Gist: a college-only ESPN clone is starting up and so far the best conference deal they could get was with the Ivies. The Ivies grabbed it since they aren't getting any national exposure anyway, so hey ride it while it lasts.
CSTV has now struck exclusive programming agreements with more than 24 college conferences including America East, Atlantic 10, Big Ten, Big 12, Big East, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial Athletic Association, Conference USA, Gateway Football League, Horizon League, Ivy League, Metro Atlantic Athletic, Mid-Continent, Mountain West, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Southern, Southland, Sun Belt, West Coast, the Western Athletic Conference, and the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. The agreements cover more than 250 U.S. colleges and universities.
1) I assume that these are either cable exclusives (I can't imagine that CSTV can afford to oubid the networks $$$ for the big conferences) or basketball isn't included for the Big East or basketball/football for the Big 12. True? (I noticed that it doesn't include "ivy league" hockey, to the extent there is such a thing outside of the ECAC.)
2) I wrote an email to the address they give to find out if the network is going to be in your area (I have digital cable) and the email was returned as undeliverable. Interesting network. . . ::rolleyes::
