Title: All-access failure for Sacred Heart
Post by: sah67 on January 06, 2007, 05:35:22 PM
Anyone else having All-access freeze your computer when it attempts to load both audio and video?  I've tried this with three computers now on two different internet connections.

Argh.

I just tried to load the video and am not having any problems.

I'm also pleasantly surprised at
1) the presence of video this early,
2) the lack of Loch Ness/truck rally commercials, and
3) what looks to me like a slightly improved interface.

And as I finish this post, I get a "This event has not yet begun."  Maybe I spoke too soon.

Video up.... McLeod and Fontas in the lineup tonight...Glover, McCutechon, Salmela, and Carefoot are out for mostly non-serious reasons.

Can you elaborate on these reasons?

McCutcheon and Glover got "dinged up" in Florida, Carefoot is at his brother's wedding in Canada, and Salmela is a healthy scratch.

Ah, thanks. Besides McLeod and Fontas, anyone else in who's usually out? Kindret?

No more annoying commercials when logging on to All-Access.  Video up early.  Let's hope it continues.

Looks like a Red-White game.  In the stands, too.

I got the usual run of long commercials before getting. The video picked up immediately, though.

Yes, there's video.  Yes,games can be watched later under "past games."  Yes, the WHCU radio guys do the announcing.  And--amazingly--yes, it all worked perfectly last night for my first attempt this season.

It worked perfectly for me as well other than I thought the cameras kept staying a little too zoomed in to see plays develop.  This was the first time I watched with direct cable in an apartment and not on an office network like I was last year.  I don't know how much of a difference that can make.

Last year I don't think I ever saw a complete game without at least a few freeze-ups.  Last night went completely without a hitch.  (I'm knocking on wood right now)
Yes,games can be watched later under "past games."
Al,  with regards to the "past games" function, is that just streaming content, or can it be downloaded and watched offline?   (I don't have broadband available at my location.   So, streaming video doesn't work for me.  Long downloads are a pain but are workable).

I've never tried but I don't see how it could be downloaded.  There might be some kind of copyright or rights issue.

I watched in the same environment as I have the rest of the games.  The changes I observed go right along with everybody else's experiences:

1) No fucking ads.  Thank God.
2) One or two momentary freezes but nothing dramatic.
3) Feed began on-time and continued throughout the game.

Now, yeah, I know it's true this is the very LEAST we should ask of a paid and purportedly professional service.  But credit where it's due: last night's coverage was adequate.  It bore some semblance to the promises that CSTV made when I signed up.  It was the first time all year I didn't feel like it was a complete ass-reaming.  That's progress.  I'd like a reimbursement for the first third of the season, but, since that would probably force CSTV into bankruptcy, I'm content to see whether they can be competent for the rest of the season before firebombing their offices.

I actually wasn't going to sign up this year because of the problems last year and what I had read this year, but I saw the charge on my credit card so I figured I might as well catch the game since I had time.  I was pretty surprised to see how smoothly the feed went.
