1 04:32 Mai Purcell (Léveillé, Shepheard)
1 12:17 Cor Romano 6 (Barlow 3, Bitz 7)
1 16:56 Mai pp Soares (Ryan, Hopson)
1 17:33 Cor Seminoff 1 (Bitz 8)
2 03:20 Mai pp Johnson (Shepheard, Purcell)
2 08:31 Cor Krantz 3 (Scott 12)
2 09:34 Mai Purcell (Hopson, Soares)
3 07:19 Mai pp Lundin (Léveillé, Shepheard)
3 16:01 Mai Laise (Hahn)
Scrivens replaced Davenport at 9:34 of period 2.
Cornell on the pp
Not sure what "London Calling" has to do with hockey, but Cornell has an early pp.
Not Cute, Maine up 1-0. Goal by Purcell . Time of goal 4:32 first period
All-Access is working
Sounds like a very quick start by Maine.
This just in from WHCU: Gerald Ford remains dead.
8:07 to go in the first. Still Maine 1 Cornell 0
Nice flurry by Krueger and Romano. Still no good chances for the Red.
CORNELL SCORE
Romano gets the credit on Bishop's own goal!!!!
goooaaaaaallllllll romano!
"Black bears really playing well this period, just an unfortunate situation" - Maine radio announcer on the first Cornell goal...
it sounds like we're picking up our play after the slow start
Sounds like a Lynah bounce with the puck deflecting off Bishop's skate. Romano was there to finish off, but didn't need to.
Btw Milo in for McCutcheon tonight
Anyone know anything about Gene Binda? Maine announcers said all the refs were ECAC.
The station is having all sorts of issues going back to commercial break -- snippets of canned news, overplaying the action with ads.
Anyone know anything about Gene Binda? Maine announcers said all the refs were ECAC.
I'm pretty sure he's WCHA

Maybe we'll 'see' some five-on-five tonight.
did they say what was wrong with Mark?
I think I heard the Maine announcers say they were #1 on the power play this year. With our kill, that could be the difference.
Just as soon as Cornell's down 2-1, they score again, 2-2
2-2; We just got an unbelieveable break on a goal
Wow...we let in a good PP goal then tie it back up on a lucky bounce
Who's got the telekinesis tonight? :-D
"Maine's working a little bit harder for their goals than Cornell"
did they say what was wrong with Mark?
Nope - left the UNH game with an injury in the 2nd period.
Who's got the telekinesis tonight? :-D
Schafer. He can break a stick over his head just by looking at it.
1:32 to go in first period. Cornell going on the power play b/c of hooking by Maine
I had to switch over to the Maine feed to figure out which team scored. Jason really needs a color man with him.
The UNH feed is playing the Maine game?
Or the Northern Michigan game? ;-)
The UNH feed is playing the Maine game?

OOPS!::doh::
It sounds like we're lucky to be in this game. I hope we come out with a lot more energy.
OT here, but Nickerson and Frey win Southern Scuffle at 125 and 133. Leen and Anceravage still to wrestle.
Krueger and Davenport have been on the ice for all 4 goals against so far this weekend.
Could someone please describe how Cornell got that second goal? I couldn't visualize it from the Maine guys' description (partly because I'm not sure I know what part of the goal is the "stanchion"). Thanks.
Someone please straighten me out. Gametracker lists Binda as the referee for this game. USCHO Box score lists Murphy as the ref for the UNH-WMU game today, but I listened to that game earlier on the UNH feed and the announcers kept referring to the referee as Binda. Were the UNH announcers just wrong, or did the refs get switched? Thanks.
With fifteen power plays in the consy game, it must have been Murphy.:-P
Greg know the second period started a few minutes ago?
Mugford serving a Contact to the Head/Roughing penalty.
...not anymore, as Johnson scores on the Power Play. 3-2, Maine.
Anybody else who's listening to the Maine feed getting small, frequent audio cut-outs?
KRANTZ!
Krantz scores off the Scott face-off; 3-3 tie!
Krantz from Scott!!! .... good effort on "Davy" from what seems like the lone horn.
Krantz is good for about 3 of those a season
good defense tonight
Pearsall makes it 4-3 Maine, now. Cornell pulls Davenport for Scrivens.
Scrivens in
Scrivens coming in....maybe Schafer was losing confidence in Davenport
Cornell finally kills one, now 1 for 3 on the PK tonight. :-/
We seem to be really out of synch. Very different from last night.
Sucks to be down a goal, but overall Cornell seems to have played much better this period. Get the even-up and Maine may start to think they're a vampire.
Interference call on Maine; Cornell goes on the PP.
Interference penalty on Maine, Cornell PP coming up
We seem to be really out of synch. Very different from last night.
Yeah it doesn't sound like Davenport was the main problem. This 1st pp unit is really struggling.
We could use a goal on this pp.
Nope, even-up Interference on Sawada.
Yale is choking:
They've given up 4 straight goals in the 3rd to Nebraska, now tied 4-4 with 4 mins left.
edit: now OT
SLU(t) down 3-2 to North Dakota with several minutes left.
No indication Davenport is hurt?
No indication Davenport is hurt?
Wind burn, maybe?**]
Third period underway, Sawada penalty now over.
3rd period underway. 19:32 to go... Sawada's penalty is over, even strength
High-stick penalty on Maine.
Maine penalty High sticking, Shepherd
Couple good Cornell shots on the PP so far - 19 more sec of power play
"Ben Scrivens makes it fun." Hmmm. Not sure how to take that.
Power play goals are killing us.
Lundine (sp?) with the PP goal; 5-3 Maine.
We might want to stay out of the box against Maine...
Power play goals are killing us.
Scoring and allowing

0-for-5 vs. 3-for-5.
Maine powerplay: 3
Maine even strength: 2
Boards: 2
Cornell 1
During a commercial break, Lacey scores for Maine. 6-3. :-(
quite the letdown after last night
Honestly? It's a shame, but face it, most of us expected to be playing WMU tonight and hoping to get the win we "should" be getting. Beating #5 Maine after beating #2 UNH would have been serious icing on the cake. I'm not thrilled, but I'll live with it.
That's 14 goals (7 on pp) for Maine this weekend. They don't suck.
asking alot of this team who hasnt played in 4 weeks to beat to good teams in 2 nights especially when the weakness all yr has been PP.. get ahandle on that in the next month i hope.

I'm talking more about the 6-1 (adjusted score) drubbing the team is getting. Losing is one thing, but getting creamed is another.
Losing is one thing, but getting creamed is another.
Getting creamed is losing 11-0, something which never happened twice in recent history.

Actually we're both wrong. I just looked it up and "getting creamed" is losing 12-0

Let's just say that a Google Images search for "getting creamed" isn't work-safe, and leave it at that.
What's really amazing about that 19-1 game is that it only involved one hat trick.
What's really amazing about that 19-1 game is that it only involved one hat trick.
Even more amazing in that it wasn't unusual for that squad to have only 15 or 16 skaters a night.

Most games, that squad was so much better than its opposition, 15 or 16 skaters was more than they needed to win.

In those days teams skated three lines and two defensive pairings. A fourth line was sent out occasionally to give the others a breather. Fourth liner Ed Ambis had just one goal in the great 1970 season--the game-tying goal in the ECAC championship. No one "rolled" four lines then. Ned won the NCAAs at RPI skating two lines and three defensemen.

And frequently retying the laces on his goalie's pads. ::whistle:: [He didn't, however, have control over the lights against Michigan and Minnesota at the Broadmoor World Arena.]
