Thought it was a week ago. I haven't heard anything about it.
The skills competition was held last Friday 12/8, during "Skate with the Big Red" night.
The results were as follows:
Fastest skater: winner was Joe Scali...Scali left both Romano and Milo in the dust, which was pretty impressive.
Hardest shot: Doug Krantz probably was the winner as he was last year (with a 100 mph slapshot), since his highest registered shot was 96 mph I believe. However, Byron Bitz joked around a bit with the audience, announcing Matt Hedge as the winner with a "104 mph" shot, since Hedge was the hometown boy and had a lot of friends and family cheering him on.
Shot accuracy contest: winner was Topher Scott...best quote of the night was here, with Byron Bitz announcing "And now...#26 on the scorecard, but #1 in your hearts, Topher Scott!"
Free-for-all shootout contest: winner was Justin Krueger...he was able to score on all three goalies. Scrivens had the most saves I believe.

Matt Hedge did, however, legitimately win the rapid fire contest netting 4 out of 6 past DiLeo. The second place finisher in that contest (can't remember who it was) only netted 2, if I remember correctly.

He smoked Kennedy too. Also of note, Milo beat Krantz (last year's winner) in the first round.

oh come on marcus, he faced dileo. meanwhile everyone else got either scrivens or davenport, both of whome where supperb.
Well, yeah, he faced DiLeo...but we assume that DiLeo doesn't suck totally (despite being the #3 of our three). He got 4/6 in and the other two went off the posts.
He has a quick little wrister that seemed to go where the goalie didn't expect. Whatever. The skills competition, though entertaining, tells you pretty darn little about how people will/can perform on the ice, with a team, defenders, etc. etc.
Still nice to see the local guy win one of the competitions. Without injuries it doesn't look like he'll see game time until (and maybe not even then) senior night. However, those that don't play still serve the team.

Mcleod also faced Dileo and I recall him getting most of his shots in aswell. It was evident that Dileo was far inferior to both scrivens and Davenport.
It doesn't really matter, and it's nice to see the local guy win. I just think it's alittle silly to pretend that Hedge won that competition fair and square.
