Ari, I love reading your stuff, but I'd love it even more if you'd use paragraphs to make it easier to read.
Thanks for doing this every week.
Exceptional column this week... especially the point about Mugford's penalty.
To add onto the "Fish Throwing" commentary, and the administration's role in policing fish-trafficking. I think it's noteworthy that the rink staff was a lot more lenient last year in searching for contraband. Two seasons ago, there were pat-downs from the waist up, removal of hats, ect. Last season, however, students were simply asked to open their coats; a procedure that would expose only the most inexperienced (or confident, I suppose) of smugglers.
It will be unclear until Friday whether they have turned the corner on their monitoring of the fish, or if they simply relied on reputation for one season. Hopefully it will be the former.
the proper way to sneak in fish...

no one was going to find these suckers...
Do they do real searches now? My senior year they just patted around your stomach, which worked well for me as I had one in my crotch that had fallen and was seconds away from falling out my pant leg and another wrapped in newspaper sticking out the top of my jacket that should have been obvious.
Also, a reminder to thaw them in time, so you're not in the parking garage throwing a block of frozen fish against the ground in a vain attempt to split them up.

speaking of which...dont wait until the last minute to goto wegmans to buy fish. they will most likely be close to sold out, and you'll either be fishless, or have to buy an expensive fish/one that is less/larger than optimal size
But if you're gonna do it that way, do yourself a favor. Don't forget an extra pair of boxers.
jaybert- recognize you and your friend from the fish pic. you guys were the transfer students right? we were the group of like 30 in front of you that camped out early thursday night, a few years ago. glad to see you're still raisin hell
