Title: W Volleyball over Harvard
Post by: CKinsland on November 04, 2006, 08:32:48 AM
After losing the first 2 of a best of 5 match, the Women's Volleyball team came back to beat Harvard.  This extends CU's win streak to 6.

I found the gametracker (through Harvard's website) quite compatible with keeping up on ELF and listening to WHCU on the radio.

They play Dartmouth at Dartmouth today at 4:00.

Great game at Dartmouth! They came out all fired up. I've never seen Bishop and Dyer hit the ball so hard.

The game on Saturday is huge. I believe no matter what happens on Friday, Saturday will pretty much determine the winner of the Ivies. There are a ton of scenarios, but if we win out, it's a done deal.

QuoteWith that said — and with the fear of possible retribution from Cornell hockey fanatics in my heart — the Cornell/Harvard hockey game is simply not the best sporting event on East Hill this weekend. Instead, that honor goes to the matches being played just 50 feet east of Lynah, as the volleyball team tries to wrap up its third consecutive Ivy League championship on the hardwood of Newman Arena.

I'll still be at Lynah.

They beat Penn last night in 4 games!

Today at Newman Arena at 4 PM they will play Princeton for the Ivy League Championship and the NCAA tournament bid.

Hope a lot of you can come out and watch.

About how long do these things tend to last, by the way?  I'm okay relying on Rinkfood™ during hockey if I don't have time for dinner between Vball and hockey, but it's nice to know these things in advance...

The quickest games are aobut an hour and fifteen minutes - a decisive 3-0 win. A 5 game marathon could run about two and a half hours. Last years 5 game win over Yale at Yale was 2:31. So let's hope we are done by 5:15 with a championship in hand!

Tonight you need to tack on a little time for it being Senior Night, with 5 graduating seniors (including the record setting Elizabeth Bishop, lauded in the paper today as probably the best volleyball player ever to play for Cornell).

You should run no risk of running into the start of the hockey game and may, or may not, have to rely on rink-dogs.
