Watched the Minn-UMD game. To me it looked like the reffing crew lost its collective spine in the last few minutes as I saw three Minn penalties, although I guess up to two of them could have been blamed on the crew not seeing them.
- Gopher defenseman on his knees places his hand on the puck and draws it into his body to stop play. Whistle but no penalty. This was clearly seen by the ref and you could here a UMD player pleading with him, shouting "You can't do that!"
- In an attempt to draw a penalty, Gopher goalie does an obviously theatrical stumble, with bonus arm flailing, after a UMD skater brushed by.
- Gopher goalie with his head and stick shaft along with a Gopher defenseman using his shoulder knock the net off, in the last minute of play to boot (=penalty shot).
Totally agree. I was thinking the same thing watching it tonight.
Most notably when you could hear the UMD player saying "You can't do that" after the gopher pulled the puck in with his hand to cover it.
I mean COME ON. It was clearly visable watching the game.
How do they miss that!?
