Title: Thanksgiving Games are SATURDAY and SUNDAY
Post by: Beeeej on October 31, 2006, 12:52:28 PM
This probably deserves its own thread, for people who may not be continuing to surf the 2006-07 Schedule thread because they assume (quite understandably) they already know when the games are.

The Thanksgiving weekend games against Wayne State are not Friday night at 8pm and Saturday at 4pm, they are Saturday night at 8pm and Sunday at 4pm.  Gene Nighman has confirmed this for me.  USCHO.com still has them listed incorrectly (as does the Google Calendar), and I've notified them.

This will be at most a minor inconvenience for me and my travel partner, but I'm definitely glad I found out a few weeks in advance.  I hope it doesn't throw a wrench into travel plans for any of you.

First, thanks for pointing this out in the other thread. As I mentioned there I had planned my trip based on USCHO's schedule. Updated my hotel reservation and now I'm all set (Sat and Sun actually work better for my family).  And just to keep things lively, I'll mention that Wayne State's athletics page agrees about the games being Sat and Sun, but lists the start time of the Sat game as 7pm.  Maybe I'll just show up Friday morning at Lynah with a sleeping bag and stay all three days and watch whatever sporting events happen to occur.

Saturday's game against Wayne State is 8 pm - it's the same situation with the RIT game last weekend, where the women are forced to play at 3 by ECACHL rules, so the men's game begins at 8 to give enough time to finish the women's game, prepare the ice and allow the required warmup time.

That also relates to why the Robert Morris game was on Thursday - the women had that league series with Brown and Yale that couldn't be moved. The choice then was move RMU to Thursday or Sunday, and RMU wouldn't move the game to Sunday.
