Re: Cornell 5 vs. Union 3 2/3/17 - 8 years ago
Cornell had 5 2nd period penalties, with the embellishment penalty being a BS call. Union looked good in the second when they played nearly half the period up at least one man.by margolism - Hockey
Re: ILDN - 8 years ago
According to the writeup on cornellbigred.com, there are now only seven members on the hockey team. They all scored tonight in tonight's game against Brock, however: ITHACA, N.Y. — Matt Buckles scored twice and the six other members of the men's hockey team scored in an 8-1 rout of Brock on Saturday night at Lynah Rink in the Big Red's final exhibition leading into next week's start to the reby margolism - Hockey

That's 25% of his goal production and 10% of his points production from last season, in his first two games.by margolism - Hockey
Re: Cornell Football 2016 - @Colgate honors Banks, Frimel, Fraser - 8 years ago
Seems like Cornell is beating Cornell in this game. And the refs suck. Still a close game.by margolism - Other Sports
Re: Cornell Football 2016 - 8 years ago
According to the Cornell web site, last 3-0 start was 2008. The last time Cornell defeated a ranked school, on the road, was a bit further back....1950.by margolism - Other Sports
Re: Cornell vs Colgate - 8 years ago
This is still a pretty young, relatively inexperienced team. This is only the QBs third start.by margolism - Other Sports
Re: Cornell vs Colgate - 8 years ago
The QB (a sophomore) played on the JV team last year. And I believe we have a *** freshman QB on the team who has yet to play.by margolism - Other Sports
Re: Cornell vs Colgate - 8 years ago
More impressive is that they were down by so much at the half, and didn't give up. Even had two 2nd half turnovers, 4 for the game. This is a signature win for the program and a win and one that will certainly make people think differently about Cornell this season. Congrats to Archer and the team for a truly impressive win that has huge confidence implications.by margolism - Other Sports

Re: Cornell Football 2016 @ Colgate - 8 years ago
A little closer now. 38-33 Colgate, 3rd quarter Colgate is a top 25 team, with a well-regarded defense, and it is there homecoming.by margolism - Other Sports
Re: Cornell Football 2016 - 8 years ago
I think this makes Cornell 3-1 in their last four games.by margolism - Other Sports
Re: Cornell Football 2016 - 8 years ago
Add three more 24-3 going into halftime. I believe our current QB is not the prized recruit either.by margolism - Other Sports

Ivy alums coaching at other Ivys - 9 years ago
In light of the recent announcement of Brian Earl being named Cornell new men's basketball coach, I was having a conversation the other day with someone about Ivy alums coaching at other Ivy institutions, other than their alma mater. Brian Earl is the only coach I can think of who graduated from one Ivy and became head coach at another Ivy. Can anyone name another example of this, if one exisby margolism - Other Sports

Re: ECAC Quarterfinals Cornell @ Q 03/11/16 - 9 years ago
Disappointing loss, but look, we played a team that only two other teams defeated all year. On the positive side, this is a young team that nobody thought would be as good as the were. Who thought that we would have two wins against #1 teams?by margolism - Hockey
Re: ECAC Quarterfinals Cornell @ Q 03/11/16 - CU 5-4 game 2 - 9 years ago
We have scored 13 goals against Q this season. (And given up 16.) Strange to think that we, not Yale, are still battling for a spot at Lake Placid.by margolism - Hockey
Re: Polls 2015-16 - 9 years ago
That is correct. Each is an independent event. (I majored in statistics.)by margolism - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - January - 9 years ago
Nice two games for him - 2nd star in 1st game, 1st star in 2nd game. Maybe he is finally getting readjusted to NHL play after being in the AHL earlier in the season?by margolism - Hockey
Re: Princeton - 9 years ago
Regardless of how good / bad Princeton is (and how strong our team is), for the past 10 years, playing at Princeton hasn't exactly been a cakewalk. According to TBRW.info, looks like, since 2006, we are 5-5-1, including last night's victory. I recall a year where we had a really good team and we got crushed at Princeton 5-0. Don't remember when that was but it always stands out in my mind.by margolism - Hockey
