Cornell with the ball, could take the lead with this drive...by margolism - Other Sports
Re: Cornell Football 2016 @ Colgate - 7 years ago
A little closer now. 38-33 Colgate, 3rd quarter Colgate is a top 25 team, with a well-regarded defense, and it is there homecoming.by margolism - Other Sports
Re: Cornell Football 2016 - 7 years ago
I think this makes Cornell 3-1 in their last four games.by margolism - Other Sports

Add three more 24-3 going into halftime. I believe our current QB is not the prized recruit either.by margolism - Other Sports

They haven't won a sprint football game since the 20th century.by margolism - Other Sports
Ivy alums coaching at other Ivys - 7 years ago
In light of the recent announcement of Brian Earl being named Cornell new men's basketball coach, I was having a conversation the other day with someone about Ivy alums coaching at other Ivy institutions, other than their alma mater. Brian Earl is the only coach I can think of who graduated from one Ivy and became head coach at another Ivy. Can anyone name another example of this, if one exisby margolism - Other Sports

Re: ECAC Quarterfinals Cornell @ Q 03/11/16 - 8 years ago
Disappointing loss, but look, we played a team that only two other teams defeated all year. On the positive side, this is a young team that nobody thought would be as good as the were. Who thought that we would have two wins against #1 teams?by margolism - Hockey
Re: ECAC Quarterfinals Cornell @ Q 03/11/16 - CU 5-4 game 2 - 8 years ago
We have scored 13 goals against Q this season. (And given up 16.) Strange to think that we, not Yale, are still battling for a spot at Lake Placid.by margolism - Hockey

That is correct. Each is an independent event. (I majored in statistics.)by margolism - Hockey

Nice two games for him - 2nd star in 1st game, 1st star in 2nd game. Maybe he is finally getting readjusted to NHL play after being in the AHL earlier in the season?by margolism - Hockey
Re: Princeton - 8 years ago
Regardless of how good / bad Princeton is (and how strong our team is), for the past 10 years, playing at Princeton hasn't exactly been a cakewalk. According to TBRW.info, looks like, since 2006, we are 5-5-1, including last night's victory. I recall a year where we had a really good team and we got crushed at Princeton 5-0. Don't remember when that was but it always stands out in my mind.by margolism - Hockey

Morgan Ivy co-player of the week AND rookie of the week. He is the 4th leading score among freshman in the country.by margolism - Other Sports
Re: 1/30 @ SLU - 8 years ago
I don't think we have lost six in a row. We did tie Union. 0-5-1. A six game winless streak would be more accurate.by margolism - Hockey

When will Hatter return? Smith another 33 points tonight. Only question is will he be Ivy POTW or Ivy Rookie OTW?by margolism - Other Sports

Re: Colgate at Cornell, Friday - 8 years ago
Some interesting tidbits: Through 4 2/3 games, Cornell has scored 20 goals. Took twice as many games last year to get to 20 goals. Last year Cornell scored 57 goals. We're at 35% of last year's total scoring total, and we are not done with our fifth game.by margolism - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs Niagara 10/31 - 8 years ago
My senior year was worst-season-ever. Six wins. Last year's team won almost 2x as many games.by margolism - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs Niagara 10/31 - 8 years ago
If I recall, didn't we lose early on to a weak Princeton team last year? Not sure if we were blanked or not, but I recall the loss.by margolism - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs Niagara 10/31 - 8 years ago
The seven goals this weekend represents 12% of all of last season's scoring.by margolism - Hockey
Re: What are your expectations? - 8 years ago
I can't imagine this team scoring less than last year's team. Not impossible, but I have to imagine they will score a few more goals. If the defense and goaltending remain solid, and we score 10 more goals this season, we could be a top 4 ECAC team.by margolism - Hockey
Re: Cornell football 2015... - 8 years ago
When Cornell wsa up by 19, I was trying to think the last time they were ahead by that many points, regardless of the final score. Years I imagine.by margolism - Other Sports

Re: Cornell Men's Lacrosse 2015 - 9 years ago
I'd rather have our 14-6 loss to Syracuse, in our first game with limited practice, than Duke's 19-7 loss. Makes our initial loss feel a little better in that context.by margolism - Other Sports
Re: What a difference one goal makes - 9 years ago
My initial point is that we don't really need that much. We just need one, maybe two players, who can seal the deal. Some better luck would also be helpful, including fewer injuries. I don't think a complete overhaul is in order. To be where we are (which, I admit is only mediocre, but certainly not horrific), with the nation's 6th least productive offense is respectable.
