Re: Cornell-Harvard lacrosse thread - 6 years ago
Didn't get much better for H. Cornell adds 6 more in Q4. Harvard scores 4 in Q4 as well, but it seemed like Cornell was playing a lot of reserves on D.by margolism - Other Sports

From the Cornell Sun today: Injury report: Sophomore defenseman Cody Haiskanen is out for the year, while freshman forward Max Andreev is likely to remain out until at least the beginning of the playoffs. Sophomore forward Cam Donaldson is expected to play this weekend after battling some upper body soreness in recent weeks.by margolism - Hockey

Wonder is Schaefer is out all weekend or if he will make it to CT. He loves Rand.by margolism - Hockey
Re: 2019-01-14 #20 Cornell at Princeton - 6 years ago
The no penalties against us certainly was huge since Princeton converts on a third of their PP opportunities. I don’t recall seeing a game where the penalty boxes didn’t get occupied at least once.by margolism - Hockey

Cornell men's hockey will get a number of inured players back as it takes on Princeton and No. 3/5 Quinnipiac this weekend. Assoc. HC Ben Syer said today senior D Brendan Smith is expected to play, sophomore D Alex Green not expected to play.— Raphy Gendler (@raphy_gendler) January 3, 2019by margolism - Hockey

Re: Cornell-Harvard at MSG - 6 years ago
The only hope I have is that we will be a better, more determined team once we are are at full strength - we still have four players out, and four important ones, including two of our best Ds. I have to imagine that the reshuffling of lines to accommodate for their absences has played a part in our performance to a certain extent. Plus, we are overworking our healthy Ds and top players, so theyby margolism - Hockey

Schafer was pretty pissed with the team in his post game comments. “Disappointing. Really disappointing, how we played tonight,” said head coach Mike Schafer ’86. “That’s the least physical I’ve ever seen a Cornell team play in a game against Harvard. “No life on the bench. … How could you be lifeless in this type of game?” Schafer said of his team in front of 14,132 at Madison Square Gardeby margolism - Hockey

Crazy looking at the USCHO stats. Yes, a sample of three in a long season is not indicative, but strange to see us near the bottom in terms of defense, goaltending, penalty kill, etc. Galajda really didn't get much time, and even less work, in the exhibition games. This may have led to his subpar performance against Michigan State. He looked much better last night, and the team didn't surreby margolism - Hockey

Re: Cornell football 2018 @ Brown W34-16 - 6 years ago
Of the three Cornell losses, one came against Delaware, a 4-2 team nobody ever expected us to beat, and Colgate, a ranked team that hasn't given up a single touchdown since the first week of the season. It's not as if our losses were against mediocre, cupcake teams. Our only Ivy loss (thus far) was against the team favored to win the Ivy League this season. Perhaps we we are better teamby margolism - Other Sports

Re: Cornell lacrosse 2019 - 2019 preview top 20 - 6 years ago
I have to imagine that this rule change would lessen the impact of face offs to a certain extent, and benefit team defenses (since there would likely be fewer super long possessions.) This rule change will likely impact Cornell's game quite a bit since they really took advantage of longer possessions and the extra pass.by margolism - Other Sports
Re: Recruits 2018 (and beyond) - 6 years ago
ursusminor Trotsky Thank you. Is 4 the top? 5.00. The only Cornell recruit since 2016 who was greater than 4.00 was Yanni Kaldis at 4.50. Edit: Wahlstrom was an example of a 5.00. Even with 4.5 stars others were selected over Kaldis in the NHL draft.by margolism - Hockey
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2019 - 7 years ago
Prior to the start of last (hockey) season, what was the word on our incoming class? I think we had two NHL picks, and one of them (Cairns) didn’t enter the lineup as a starter for the most part. How a recruiting class looks on paper doesn’t indicate how well they will gel with the other classes and / or their fellow classmates. I believe there was a period when Harvard supposedly had amazby margolism - Other Sports

Re: Cornell lacrosse 2018 - 7 years ago
Last three games the Cornell defense has been lights out in the second half. - Versus Brown, 3 second half goals allowed - Versus Yale, 3 second half goals allowed - Versus Syracuse, 2 second half goals allowed Whether this is due to comfort or defense adjustments, I don’t know. But I’ll take it.by margolism - Other Sports
