Re: Flopping - 17 years ago
WillCMJrThe crowd does give Scrivens a more enthusiastic introduction. And when they win and he's leaving the ice they give him a rousing 'Scrivens, Scrivens,..." This was most noticeable when we finally scored the first win in January. The win got the monkey off our back...only L or T since December win vs. UNH and Coach got his winningest record. Re: Post Game! - 17 years ago
billhowardIt was a 2-minute shove from behind, not a 5-minute major. If you believed the refs were in debt to a bookie who had money on Colgate, it would have been understandable. Since that's not the case, the next best explanation is: It was a bad call by referees who wanted to keep the game safe ... and over-reacted. We had a clear view from Section G. Breaking news today from the Ithaca Journel ... Cornell men's basketball: 7-foot transfer center headed to CU By BRIAN DELANEY Journal Staff ITHACA - Cornell assistant men's basketball coach Zach Spiker acknowledged late Thursday that 7-foot center Jeff Foote, a former walk-on at St. Bonaventure's and star at Spencer-Van Etten High School, will transfer to Cornell and play for the Big Red nby MINIteam8s - Other Sports
Re: Higher Glass in Lynah - 17 years ago
We heard from an older couple during the Red & White scrimmage that their seats cost 50% more than regular seats. The view was pretty bad for them. The seats are too far back from the glass for the older people (with canes) to sit in and see the ice / action below. I haven't seen them in their original seats so maybe they moved. That leaves the area open for the "vocalists". Itby MINIteam8s - Hockey

Re: BC 0 @ Sucks 4 (Final) - 17 years ago
Since Friday's game comes just a bit after Halloween and given Teddy's quote after last night's game, I'm thinking that wearing a witch's hat during the team warmup might be a good add to the evening. Our seats are right behind the goal in Section G. Good idea or not?by MINIteam8s - Hockey

Re: The Cornell Bears? Noooo.....Cornell Big Red! - 18 years ago
We too miss the skating bears in their retro sweaters. The last time we remember seeing the two of them was during the 2004-2005 season. Mascot? YES! Calling us the B**** - NOT! I can't even write it out it sounds so baaaad. The role of mascot at some schools has been elevated almost to artist or professional. They attract the students, alums and their kids in a nice way, instilling schoolby MINIteam8s - Other Sports
Home Games in Elmira? - 18 years ago
While the Elmira Star-Gazette bears the title of First Gannett Newspaper (100 years old this year), it isn't often internationally known (eLynah does have a regular contributor based in Australia - right?) for breaking news stories. Today's sports section reports the manager of First Arena in Elmira as saying last night, "Cornell is looking to have home games at the arena. Cornell will beby MINIteam8s - Hockey

CKinsland, Thank you for sharing both of those items from the Ithaca Journel. I haven't had a chance to scan the e-news yet today. Re: WHERE TO WATCH: Directory of places showing CU-Wisconsin in regional final (updates needed) - 18 years ago
We just got home from the Statler - watching TW Channel 26. The bartender was fantastic. He turned the channel to 26 and put the volume up as soon as we got there to watch the Eastern Regional Hahvahd game and then the Big Red vs CC match up. He's off tomorrow, but we suspect that Sunday afternoon should be more of the same. We have Adelphia at our Kuehka cottage and TW-Binghamton at home, bby MINIteam8s - Hockey
Re: CC players with the FLU? - 18 years ago
Zaba, the CC goalie, is hurting both physically and mentally...from another article in gazette.com: Coach Scott Owens said Zaba ices his right knee after every practice and every game to reduce soreness. Zaba missed three games after he bruised the knee Feb. 10 in a 6-3 win over St. Cloud State. “I don’t know if he has had quite the year he had last year,” Owens said. “But he has had to play aby MINIteam8s - Hockey

Re: WHERE TO WATCH: Directory of places showing Cornell on TV in the NCAA tournament - 18 years ago
Thanks for confirming the Ithaca location. TW Binghamton is still on the fence...can't say if they found a channel yet (out of how many channels?) to run the game on for the Corning area. So we're hedging...may be able to watch on Risley TV or will end up at Uncle Joe's. I was ready to 840 mi to Green Bay, but family convinced me otherwiseby MINIteam8s - Hockey
Re: Time Warner - semis live - Corning area - 18 years ago
Thanks for the clarification. We'll check w TW today when their offices open. Their regular schedule seems to vary - even between the local towns down here. We started making plans to watch the games on campus (Risley), not thinking that the Corning market was big enough to encourage a programming change. This will be a good learning to better understand how TW manages its programming!by MINIteam8s - Hockey

Re: OFFICIAL NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament Bracket 2006 - 18 years ago
Definitely agree with the last few posts ... Our best team can win on any one night. We haven't brought our best team to every game this year; we had lots of opportunities to impact the ratings. We do need our team healthy ... A mom-to-(player's)-mom conversation Friday night revealed that sinus, flu and typical upstate NY winter colds were taking their toll on the whole team.
