Re: Empty seats at Lynah - 5 months ago
RichHThe beginning of the end of Hot Truck was when they started taking phone orders. If you didn’t have to order in person and wait outside on the steps with everyone else, it ceased being a community. Although even back in the day some of us had the "cheat code" of friends living in the 660 Stewart Ave Co-op, where we could spend part of the wait time out of the elements.by jtwcornell91 - Hockey

pfibiger Given that Elon Musk ruined Age's live tweeting games, this is both great to chat during the games and for following the game when you're stuck at an event and can't watch video. No love for Mastodon?by jtwcornell91 - Hockey

ugarte Trotsky They strip the names and numbers off which sucks.Back then it was just names that came off. I chose #2 for Ratushny but you can tell from the size of the ghost of the old nameplate in the removed stitching that it had been Travis Bell's My mom had them sew an OATES nameplate (and an assistant captain A) on my #20 jersey, but you can tell it was actually Palahicky's because they cby jtwcornell91 - Hockey
Re: Cornell Hockey Jerseys? - 5 months ago
RichH ugarte Trotsky The replica jerseys aren't great unfortunately.no need to be so harsh this looks pretty sharp for a youth jersey Maybe better than the real thing these days, as this replica has the lower stripe historically correct. The roads the team has been wearing are now just Red Wing blanks with the white going all the way to the bottom hem. It's just wrong. Wasn't there a seasonby jtwcornell91 - Hockey

Al DeFlorio Total shots Yale 38, Cornell 21. Second period 21-6, Yale. Yikes! What's with the Yale announcers keeping track of "total shots" separately from "shots on goal"?by jtwcornell91 - Hockey

Beeeej Will Beeeej Please be patient - there are a few mods, but only Age has the ability to block instead of deleting, and literally a majority of the mods have babies under a year old in the house to care for. How dare you all have very cute babies all around the same time. The nerve of you people. That's not what they mean by "family planning." My babies are still cute, even ifby jtwcornell91 - Hockey

RichH scoop85 George64 underskill Based on some of the graffiti on campus this week, the behavior of some professors and the admin in general, I sadly don’t think Cornell students can be dismissed as culprits. Which makes me ashamed as an alum. According to a NYT article, the offending professor requested a leave of absence. I hope it’s a long one. Weder Meinig Fieldhouse will be next to the soccer field and will be big enough to hold lacrosse games, including room for spectators. Expected to open in 2026. Does that mean we're giving up our "home ice advantage" for lax vs Syracuse?by jtwcornell91 - Other Sports
Re: Cricket World Cup on ESPN+ - 6 months ago
Trotsky I gotta say, during the COVID MLB season I realized that, even as a purist who hates every innovation since batting helmets, I could get used to 7-inning games. 3-PA minimum. Pitch clock. 100-games RS. There is no problem in baseball that can't be solved by less baseball. I spent my formative teenage years going to amateur baseball games, so I got used to seven innings a long tiby jtwcornell91 - Other Sports

Jeff Hopkins '82 upprdeck with the time Cricket takes to play.. How do they even get it done in the 2 weeks of the olympics. As he said, it's "20-over" cricket. An over is 6 balls thrown, so 20 overs is 120 balls bowled per side. Think of it as a baseball game with only 120 pitches thrown to each team. The version that takes forever is test cricket. That one goes until 9 battersby jtwcornell91 - Other Sports

Cricket World Cup on ESPN+ - 6 months ago
For those of us who have ESPN+ for Cornell hockey, they're showing all the matches of the (50 over) Cricket World Cup from India. Most of the games are day/night matches with a starting time of 4:30am EDT, so there's quite a lot of play to see in the breakfast/morning time. Hosts India are off to a great start with three convincing wins, including dominant performances against Australia aby jtwcornell91 - Other Sports

Trotsky Al DeFlorio George64 Al DeFlorio jtwcornell91 Trotsky Even as a rabid hockey fan I gotta ask: why should athletics be a priority? arugula upprdeck so if you went to that site you would have no idea which game is which night..
