Re: Cornell at RPI pre-game - 16 years ago
Tom LentoTrotskyDouble edit: Uryadov has 67 PIM already! For some perspective, nobody on Cornell has more than 22. He got 30 in one game with Yale. Yikes. RPI as a team only got 19 PIMs in that game. Uryadov got 15 with a major and a game misconduct (which, of course, counts as 10 minutes in the box score). Uryadov had 19 against Miami, so most of his PIMs came in two 5+10 incidents.by Trotsky - Hockey
Re: Cornell at RPI pre-game - 16 years ago
I've never heard of RPI's three leading scorers: Tyler Helfrich, Andrei Uryadov and Chase Polacek. Of course, experience has taught us that RPI's scorers tonight will include Garrett Vassel and Scott Halpern, neither of whom has scored this year, and maybe Lange or Alford. Edit: Helfrich is from Alberta, so Mike probably recruited him... Double edit: Uryadov has 67 PIM already! For someby Trotsky - Hockey
Re: Bloom Hockey Center? - 16 years ago
Al DeFlorioSeems to me the rinks at both Brown and Harvard have two names--one for the building and one for the rink.BC also. Kelley Rink and Conte Forum. And Clarkson too, IIRC, though I don't remember the building name. Edit: Cheel Arena is within "Cheel Campus Center." Double edit: that's "Kelley."by Trotsky - Hockey
Re: Cornell at RPI and Union Stream - 16 years ago
ursusminorChris '03Tonight's game is also on SNY which is more likely to to be available broadly than TWS. Is that supposed to be a hint that Kevin Broad (RPI '07) is doing the color? You are really overestimating our knowledge of RPI hockey. Does WRPI still have its audio feed? Have to say, since Grady left it's the most entertaining broadcast in the conference (unless you count the St. Lawrby Trotsky - Hockey

Re: Mike Kennedy - ECAC Player of the Week - 16 years ago
lynah80I think most people would agree that his line mates are a big part of his recent success. Topher is a great play maker and Ray's scoring threat certainly complement Mike's skills nicely.Maybe it was just a slow change, but there was a moment on Saturday where Sawada was barreling down the ice with a Kennedy on each wing, but either the play was offside or there was an errant pass. Re: Betting lines for Cornell-Duke - 16 years ago
The initial line isn't supposed to predict reality, it's supposed to predict the betting pattern. It then immediately gets pulled into true by the betting volume. My problem is with lines on games like, say, Duke-Cornell, where one team is obscure. How do they put together the initial line on such a game? Presumably, betting will be much lighter than on games involving two nationally-knownby Trotsky - Other Sports

I didn't think there was anything flukey about the first goal -- it was just a perfect pass by Topher. Goal 2 was a fluke.by Trotsky - Hockey

Re: Cornell 6, Niagara 0 Postgame - 16 years ago
Cornell looked really good, but Niagara looked really, really bad. They were a 10-5-1 team -- either Schafer has connected the team up with a new pharmacist, or the Purple Eagles had an atypically flat night. Echoing Beeeej, tomorrow we'll see.by Trotsky - Hockey

Re: UMass-Lowell 2 Cornell 2 (3rd) - 16 years ago
KeithKebilmesIt was an incredibly stupid play, but I question whether it was right to pull Scrivens. He's found himself in plenty of similar situations in other games -- he falls down, or comes too far out of net -- and those easily could have led to a goal. This time the puck actually found its way into net. Maybe he hadn't learned the lesson because he has gotten away with it at other times. Tby Trotsky - Hockey
Re: JMP is credited with scoring a goal - 16 years ago
KeithK I forget the player's name or details at the moment, but as I recall the penalized Cornellian called it the prettiest goal he'd ever scored. Dave Crombeen. It was in the final game of the 1986 RS, at Houston Field House. Cornell fell behind by 2-3 goals, but Crombeen's goal helped Cornell come all the way back to win in overtime, 7-6. Crombeen was a very hard checking forward -- hby Trotsky - Hockey
