arugula Trotsky RobbTrotskyThe world needs finance bros too.Needs? What - are the poors hungry again? "Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard." Fwiw my friend the BC grad is a union organizer. I guess that’s the opposite of a finance bro. A bit closer to the Jesuit tradition.I'm just glad there still are union organiby Trotsky - Hockey

Re: ECAC Early and Grad Departures 2024 - 21 days ago
BearLoverOf course, if you root for a strong ECAC, you would prefer that Martino return for his senior season. Preferring a strong ECAC would also mean rooting for Colin Graf to stay, for Macklin Celebrini to transfer for Harvard for his sophomore season, etc.Players going pro is a tremendous sign of strength. I hope all our opponents get kneecapped by early flight.by Trotsky - Hockey

There are two men and four women in the portal who have 4 years of eligibility left. Huh?by Trotsky - Hockey

BearLover Mid-majors like RIT, Michigan Tech, Army are getting absolutely wrecked in the transfer portal right now.How does it work with the academies? Isn't that a little... complicated?by Trotsky - Hockey
Re: NCAA QF - Denver - 23 days ago
DLOne bad penalty and one shitty call while playing a side stuffed with talent is probably all that separates any quality team on any given year from taking the crown. I would add one puck bounce. So many games are decided by fluke events. Great teams can only put themselves into position where those events cut their leads rather than costing them their leads.by Trotsky - Hockey

ugarteyou have to understand that greg processes the world through a cumulation of prejudices and loathings - no subject too small, no umbrage too large - and has no idea how crazy it sounds to third parties when he turns on the opinion hose. most people just nod as they back away and i do this. the actual hockey, though, he gets right as often as i do.This guy gets it.by Trotsky - Hockey

arugulaWow. Ad hominem much? My experience on bc’s campus was a good looking group. My experience with people who call others physically unattractive is they generally should buy a mirror. Ad hom is attacking the poster. I was attacking the people of Chestnut Hill. Obviously, any friend or blood relative of yours who has attended BC is stunningly beautiful, and would be a New England 10 andby Trotsky - Hockey

Chris '03But BC kids being likely to be local isn't true. I'd bet Cornell has more NYers than BC has kids from Mass. as a point of comparison. Ah, but those are kids who self-selected to go to BC. They were but temporarily exiled from their true home. Essence precedes existence.by Trotsky - Hockey

Dafatone Trotsky arugula It is? I’ve been following college hockey for forty years (oy vey!). Never experienced it from the BC group. 40 years here, too. It is. It's primarily the self-absorption of Bostonians. BC students are likely to be locals. BU gets a large contingent of kids who didn't get into Ivies, so the solution of Boston Idiocy has been diluted. That wasn't it at all. The mixed feels was wishing he was still with us, but also being happy for him. There was nothing vituperative. I wouldn't root against a guy who left us either. It wasn't a good fit. But I'm also friends with my exes, so...by Trotsky - Hockey

Re: TBRW Awards 2024 - 24 days ago
Even though we were outshot in, I think, every one of the last 4 games, I felt like we got the lion's share of the really good, close chances in all of them, and were the better team in all of them. I was fine with not rolling up perimeter shot totals. I just loved the way this team played this season, and especially in March. They found a great balance between creativity and responsibility,by Trotsky - Hockey
Re: NCAA Tournament 2024 - 24 days ago
Robb DU, UMich, BC, BU. Does the blood get any bluer? The two western teams with the most championships and the two eastern teams with the most championships. Yawn.Minnesota for Denver would be bluer. Go Pioneers. Least objectionable of the F4, with a fine Cornell history.by Trotsky - Hockey

scoop85 Among the names in the transfer portal is UCONN’s Matthew Wood, a 1st round draftee in the 2022 NHL draft. Rumored to be looking at Minnesota/Wisconsin/NoDak. If he leaves a big loss for a Huskies program trying to gain relevance. When is the Transfer Portal deadline? or does such a thing exist?by Trotsky - Hockey

DeSantis had an amazing second half. I also really appreciated Devlin, Penney, and Psenicka down the stretch. I think Psenicka was playing as well as he did in the first half of his freshman year when he looked like an unstoppable force of nature. We have guys who find the net, guys who can see the ice, and guys who can create chances. I'm not sure what the missing Chemical X is to bring itby Trotsky - Hockey
Re: TBRW Awards 2024 - 24 days ago
Scersk '97I have my eye on Devlin. We were a different team when he was out. I felt this way about Mack. We have legitimately scary scoring threats in Mack, Castagna, Bancroft, DeSantis (curse sold separately), and then greasy, hard working goal scorers in Walsh, Psenicka, Penney, O'Leary. We don't have the Denver offensive threats, but I think we are the equal of Q. Someone wondered whethby Trotsky - Hockey
Re: TBRW Awards 2024 - 24 days ago
I think there was confusion about the Gage Award, given all the Kempf nominations. It is given to a player who flies under the radar, receives few accolades, and/or plays a particular role well. Kempf is as some of you noted the primary stay at home D on a team built out from goal -- the opposite of a supporting player. My choices for Gage were Devlin and Stanley and honestly it could haveby Trotsky - Hockey
