Re: Recruits 2025 and Beyond - 4 weeks ago
Pghas So a bit off topic but of definite interest here. My son is a prep school player and we recently attended this big D1 showcase in Florida - they time it to be held just after the NCAA coaches annual conference and so literally there are either head coaches or assistant coaches from every hockey east and ECAC school there. Competition is pretty amazing. Anyway they have a conference portiby Trotsky - Hockey
Re: CORNELL WINS 2025 MENS LACROSSE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! - 4 weeks ago
ugarte Weder mike1960 ER stereax ugarte scoop85 stereax Ken711 Last week, Walker Wallace, a first-team All-Ivy League long stick midfielder, helped the Cornell men's lacrosse team win the national title. Now, the Richmond native is transferring to #UVa to play football. He will be a tight end for the Cavaliers. To play football?? Yes, for football. Several lacrosse players have made the switch,by Trotsky - Other Sports
Re: Cornell Lacrosse legacy started before Richie Moran - 4 weeks ago
The hockey program is the bust of Ned. Someday the inevitable will happen. Lynah will be replaced by a Cheel-like antiseptic Chamber of Wraiths, and it will have a Cornell hockey museum (with overpriced gift shop) suspiciously similar to the Jackie Rotunda at Citi Field. The vaulted ceiling should be The Creation of Adam, with Ned about to pull Mike's finger.by Trotsky - Other Sports

The only strong team I can remember keeping religiously to their platoon in the playoffs was Harvard. I think in 89 but maybe one (or more) of their other Frozen Four years (83, 86, 87) during that incredible Cleary run.by Trotsky - Hockey

Remember too that while Mike liked to go with a #1, Casey may prefer a platoon, as I do, being highly risk averse.by Trotsky - Hockey

Re: Recruits 2025 and Beyond - 5 weeks ago
I had not considered a guy announcing an NC$$ offer but staying CHL another year. That would be perfect. The CHL's blue chippers are significantly better and more numerous than the NC$$, so if he wants more time to learn to shut them down I am just fine with that. He does seems extremely savvy and hockey career-oriented which suggests to me he won't be here 4 years, but you had me at 6-4 andby Trotsky - Hockey

toddlose If we are just throwing names out there, there’s always Jiri Kloboucek. He was a housemate of mine and was always considered the best hockey practice player of all time when I was there. We called him "Mr. October" because he was amazing in the exhibitions against Canadian teams.by Trotsky - Other Sports

Re: Future Predictions - 5 weeks ago
There are two approaches to these forums: observational vs critical. The observational approach is Montaigne. “Let us give Nature a chance; she knows her business better than we do.” The critical approach is Marx: “The philosophers have only interpreted the world in various ways. The point is to change it." I'm content to just watch and enjoy. I have no advice nor would I have any stanby Trotsky - Hockey

David Harding 617BigRed Its hard to make predictions, especially about the future! (-Yogi Berra ?) A discussion of the origin of the saying can be found at I am amazed Churchill isn't on that list. ursusminor From Heisenberg's list for 2027 and Anthony Dontigny A CHL player, from the spectacularly-named Shawinigan Cataractes. The pretty waterfall; not the gross eye condition. He's gonna feel right at home at the gorge.by Trotsky - Hockey

Re: Nothing about the pope - 7 weeks ago
Jeff Hopkins '82 Trotsky Jeff Hopkins '82Am I right in assuming he's the first modern mixed-race pope? Of course, I have no idea who the popes were in the early church, hence the "modern". Race in the sense we mean it is a modern conceit. Amazingly, nobody gave a shit about skin color except as a curiosity, like eye color. They cared A LOT about where you born and what language yby Trotsky - John Spencer Is Dead
