Re: Cornell v Yale, 11/3/23 - 5 months ago
Trotsky Same same on parking and New Haven pizza. For seating, Yale's so bad now it may be like the 90s when you could just walk around and plant yourself anywhere in the rink. Beautiful rink with atrocious facilities. The Yale crowd is divided evenly between (1) students, (2) 8-year olds, and (3) 80-year olds. It's like a football game in terms of the number of sheer fossils, and theyby Swampy - Hockey
Cornell v Yale, 11/3/23 - 5 months ago
I'm planning to attend the game at Yale and have some questions: Where are the best seats for visitors? The Yale website offers parking, apparently for an extra fee. Is this really necessary, or is free parking readily available nearby? Is there anythng else one should know about attending the game at Yale?by Swampy - Hockey

TimV Trotsky Al DeFlorioThat looks exactly on beam.Depends whose "day" you mean by "our day." In the early 60s it was a $25 CUAA coupon book that got a student into every sports event. Well, in the early 60s we sucked. Supply and demand. Do we still just give free football tix to students? I had a CUAA book 64-68. Harkness years when we SO did not suck. Trotsky underskillI assume it’s more admission issues as opposed to academic issues once they’re admitted. Perhaps they don't have academic issues because Day Hall maintains standards*. * Unless you can afford tutors to physically carry you into and through the school and on to your reserved chair at their firm. Re: Electronic Schedule - 6 months ago
RichH Swampy I looked at the "official" team schedule, but nowhere could I find a link to an electronic version (i.e., one that can be imported to something like Google Calendar). Does anyone know if & where there is one? BTW, the "Schedule" link to db.elynah.com under "Slack" is not working. Edit: There isn't one on the 2022-23 schedule you linked to. Onby Swampy - Hockey

mike1960 This is a fantastic schedule! We've got Denver and Ohio State. Also, Syracuse and Notre Dame. (Can't wait to beat Syracuse.) But Denver, Penn State, and ND not on television?? Tough, yes, but great lacrosse all spring! The Denver (2/24), Hobart (2/27), tOSU (3/2) stretch is particularly brutal. Re: Cricket World Cup on ESPN+ - 6 months ago
Jeff Hopkins '82 upprdeck with the time Cricket takes to play.. How do they even get it done in the 2 weeks of the olympics. As he said, it's "20-over" cricket. An over is 6 balls thrown, so 20 overs is 120 balls bowled per side. Think of it as a baseball game with only 120 pitches thrown to each team. The version that takes forever is test cricket. That one goes until 9 battersby Swampy - Other Sports

Ken711 Cornell will be lucky to win another game this season. If the new AD doesn't fire Archer, then just drop the sport. And use the money we save for an indoor facility for lacrosse and soccer.by Swampy - Other Sports

dbilmes scoop85 Great game story from the Daily Orange As a former sports editor of The Cornell Sun, it pains me to say this, but the quality of this story is better than any sports story I've seen in the Sun in years. The Syracuse sportswriter actually went to an away game in person, had some good tactical details from the game, and had pertinent quotes both from the coach and one of the playersby Swampy - Other Sports

billhoward If any school has the money to support any and all athletic teams, it would be Stanford. Whether Koll stayed at Stanford or rejoined the Tar Heels, he's in the ACC. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, these Stanford sports go to the ACC: Football, basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, women’s lacrosse, wrestling, women’s gymnastics, cross country, golf, tennis, track & fielby Swampy - Other Sports

Trotsky George64 randyranger I was told (many people talked about it) that in the previous year's V vs F game (October,1967) that Kevin scored a hat trick against Ken Dryden...the ONLY player to do so in Dryden's 4 years at Cornell. Trotsky The ruling is irrelevant to legacy admissions as a matter of law. It's simply a particularly hilarious self-own by our ruling class (and many of our classmates) of their hypocrisy. It should be enjoyed and savored as one of those moments when the scenery falls away and we see the bare wall at the back of the theater.
