Re: Cornell vs Quinnipiac postgame - 17 years ago
jtwcornell91Robb Well yes, that would have certain advantages... I was just quoting the song: We are the alumni, we write out the checks. We deplore campus violence, pot smoking, and sex. We're summa cum laude, we're doing quite well - But, oh, to be 20, and back at Cornell! Isn't that "our careers are progressing, we're doing quite well"? The part about magna cum laude (but sby KP '06 - Hockey

Re: Cornell 3 at 3 Union 2/9/07 postgame - 17 years ago
ebilmesOh, and our band was penalized by Onion for daring to play Davy after lineups were announced. Their punishment? The band could not play between periods. Instead, they hummed My Old Cornell and other songs. For which we got in trouble a second time. And don't get me started on the DJ pumping music through the rink while we had an injured player down. Union doesn't deserve D-I sports.by KP '06 - Hockey
Re: Clarkson at Cornell postgame - 17 years ago
redhair34dtoI went to Clarkson 92-96 and never saw Cornell's band up there (or if I did, I got way too drunk at happy hour to remember). I watched the game from Cheel this year on the internet and I saw some Red fans, but don't recall seeing or hearing a band. The were there. I'm guessing about one third of the band made the trip? About a dozen people made it as part of an unofficial alumniby KP '06 - Hockey
Re: Clarkson at Cornell postgame - 17 years ago
Dpperk29upperdeck2 two thoughts.. a 3rd of the clarkson band was there?? must be tradition cause it was the same size its been for 10 years.. and yeah its good they finally put the opp band in a place that doesnt effect the rest of us sitting next to them. my understanding is that there were only enough tickets alotted to the band for 1/3 of the band to come. (and Daredevil can confirm this oby KP '06 - Hockey

Re: Cornell at Colgate postgame - 17 years ago
redhair34The atmosphere was definitely a letdown after last year. I guess the students don't get loaded on Thursday evenings. Those Colgate nerds. It was nice to see Cornell carry the play for the entire game ... though a win would be nicer. I'm hoping for a solid win on Saturday, especially if the crowd gets to Mark. He's made himself into an easy target.by KP '06 - Hockey
Re: Cornell at Clarkson Post-game - 17 years ago
Dpperk29"Fuck em up, Fuck em up, Go CU!" and "Cya Asshole, you goon" are both more offensive than SHIT spells IVY. Those chants are organized and led by YOUR BAND. [ I know our band does "the price is wrong bitch, I hate that one too] The Cornell band does not swear at games, even to the point that the administration doesn't let us say the word "suck." Yale is choking: They've given up 4 straight goals in the 3rd to Nebraska, now tied 4-4 with 4 mins left. edit: now OT SLU(t) down 3-2 to North Dakota with several minutes left.by KP '06 - Hockey

Re: Cornell 6 Union 0 postgame (12/2/06) - 17 years ago
evilnaturedrobotFor those complaining about the spead up pace of chants (and I agree) you'll be happy to know that we did get two really slow sieve chants going in A, though I can't say that too many fans joined in. Those are great. I can imagine them getting very disconcerting to a goalie if they're loud and extended.by KP '06 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 6 Union 0 postgame (12/2/06) - 17 years ago
I just sat in section H on Friday, my first time outside of section A since becoming a Cornell student. I was indeed surprised at how little of the band could be heard on the other end of the rink. We just don't think about that sort of thing. However, the bass drum and quads are actually audible from that end of the rink (edit: but possibly not from within E-F, with loud cheering happening).by KP '06 - Hockey
Re: Clarification from Nighman - 17 years ago
Good to know. After calling RIT "a bunch of D-III goons" during pregame warmups, a member of the athletics staff (not an usher) pulled me aside and asked me to please be "less vicious" due to the new rules about sportsmanship. I tried to get more specifics out of her, and failed. This helps.by KP '06 - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Wisconsin postgame thread (post-season thread?) NCAA quarterfinals 2006 - 18 years ago
TrotskyKP '06My only beef during the game was when one of our players (Carefoot?) was down on the ice and the entire rink was booing him. They may have been booing to indicate they didn't want a penalty (which didn't happen), but that was still fairly classless in my book. According to many posts on USCHO, they were booing the ref for stopping the play, with Wisco in possession, not Carefoot.by KP '06 - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Wisconsin postgame thread (post-season thread?) NCAA quarterfinals 2006 - 18 years ago
Yesterday was just a phenomenal hockey game, clearly our best of the season and the most exciting hockey game I've ever seen. We played like the #2 team in the country, and I couldn't have been more proud. Wisconsin fans were overwhelmingly nice, wishing us luck before the game and some giving condolences afterwards. Re: Cornell vs. Clarkson, game 1 postgame - 18 years ago
jtwcornell91action jacksonEither way, our fans were out of line throwing crap on the ice...it's a bad habit that has to stop. We don't want to be that kind of crowd. Hear, hear. That shit has got to stop. Did anyone get tossed from the rink for throwing stuff? ... 'cause they should have.by KP '06 - Hockey
Re: Cornell at St. Lawrence post-game thread (2/11/06) - 18 years ago
calgARI '07Well I wouldn't say they banned Cornell cheering, but they heavily restricted it. We were told that we were not allowed to yell T after the S-L-U or the band would be kicked out. Ah, I had wondered why we switched to R and then Tau.by KP '06 - Hockey
Re: Cornell at St. Lawrence post-game thread (2/11/06) - 18 years ago
oceanst41Out of respect for the band, the conductor asked if we didn't mind keeping quiet just in case, most people did a silent fist pump And thanks for helping out. The same demand was made of the band at Brown this year, except the band got bitched out when other people in the crowd (who we clearly weren't affiliated with) still yelled Red. You guys helped avoid a situation.by KP '06 - Hockey
Re: Does anybody else - 18 years ago
Cornell95nyc94I really dislike the way Cornell adds on to buildings... Same goes for Duffield being stuck to Phillips. And could they have matched the stone when they added on to the law school? Well it has been some time since I was on campus and in a design department (Landscape Arch. '95) but I will chime in anyways I think the decision to place Duffield on the Engineering Quad was a hby KP '06 - Hockey

Re: Impressions from SLU(t)/Clarkson weekend at Lynah - 18 years ago
schoaffBeeeej Who remembers it being led by the Tubas?! It was led by the trumpets, and on increasingly rare occasions still is. Beeeej That's exactly what I remember, but a year or two ago when I brought it up people from the pep-band swore it was a Tuba cheer which made me question my sanity. Very much a trumpet cheer. The last time I remember doing it, most people stared awkwardly, whiby KP '06 - Hockey

oceanst41I agree, the remote control goalie has been lacking all year And there are more verbs than Skate, Turn, and Bend Over ... Glide, Stop, Sweep, Tap, etc. The band usually does them, but everyone else is already chanting Bend Over. Edit: We're both psychic.by KP '06 - Hockey

Not sure what I'm listening to on the Northeastern radio feed, but it's definitely not hockey. On closer inspection, their webpage says 7PM, so I guess they'll be playing a delayed version?by KP '06 - Hockey
