Re: Basking in the glow of #13 - 4 days ago
CU2007 While Adam has us in Springfield vs Maine (w/Denver - UMass), his colleague has us in St Louis vs Maine (w/ Michigan St - Western Mich). Springfield is a Thursday - Saturday regional, while St Louis is a Friday - Sunday. I hope Adam is right. St. Louis is showing as sold out right now.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Watching the replay of last night's Lehigh Valley versus Bridgeport game. Both Bardreau and Kubiak playing for Bridgeport. Kubiak was referred to as a "veteran player." Really?by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Iceberg The EU has adopted the name "Czechia" and that's what I've used to refer to the country for the past few years. I was in the country last year for almost a week but I can't remember what names the locals used. I almost think it was both but I can't remember. Either way, people should know that it's the same country being referenced. According to Wikipedia, both Ceská Republikaby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

BearLover JasonN95 chimpfood Schafer quoted in the CHN article as saying “Im on the back 9 here.” Although it really isn’t a shock, it is sad to hear him say with the guy having been coach as long as I can remember. If I had to guess I would say he goes when these 10 freshman graduate. I was thinking the same thing: He must be excited to see what this freshman class can do over the next three yby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: What happened to PWR this year? - 4 days ago
I came up with this: BC Wisc Quin MTU - Providence BU Minn Omaha RIT - Sioux Falls Den UND Mich UMass - Springfield MSU Maine Cornell WMU - St.Louis It maintains the 1-8, 2-7, 3-6, and 4-5 "integrity" and puts Minnesota in Sioux Falls to help with attendance. There aren't that many tix left in Springfield, so who cares who goes there because UMass (or BU) is buying up the housby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

I like Adam's bracket. He put Cornell / Maine in Springfield with Denver and UMass.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: What happened to PWR this year? - 5 days ago
upprdeck bc wusc quin mtech bu minn omaha rit den dak mich umass msu maine cornell wmu den ndak in ndak but mass needs to move to sprinsagfield and cant play bu Bu has to go out west because umass bought a home game.. Those are the 4 groupings I came up with, too. I'm guessing our bracket ends up in STL, and the BU/Minny bracket ends up in Sioux Falls.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Of course, after I say BC locks it up, BU goes on a 5 min power play and gets one back.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: What happened to PWR this year? - 5 days ago
kingpin248 upprdeck maybe,, I thought they said 5, From adamw's update this morning: adamw (at CHN) Because five NCHC teams will make the NCAA Tournament, the Committee can, according its manual, allow those two teams to meet. But it has never done so before when five teams from the same conference made it. It has only done so once, when six WCHA teams made the field in 2008. OK, I was mis-reby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

BC now up on BU 5-1 with 7 mins left. You can take that one to the bank.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

BearLover upprdeck at large vs auto does nothing to the seedings. the autos could be 13-16 just as easy as an at large Not this year. This year, the autobids are 15 and 16. EDIT: I meant the autobids from AHA and CCHA. To be fair, also 12 or 13.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

RichH jtwcornell91 Jeff Hopkins '82 To give you an idea of how second class this tournament feels, there are no programs at the rink and not even a QR code to scan for one (like there was last year). They just didn't bother creating one. Also, there's a single tiny stand selling souvenirs. None of it has the name of the schools on it - all the souvenirs simply have the tournament logo. upprdeck but if a league has 5 teams they are allowed to play to maintain the brackets.. I thought it was 6.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: What happened to PWR this year? - 5 days ago
Near as I can figure, if Omaha beats Denver, CC gets the last at large. If Denver beats Omaha, UMass gets it. And if CC gets the last at large, they can't play Denver so we get Denver despite finishing 13th, probably in Sioux Falls. CC goes to St.Louis to play MSU. Now if UMass gets the last at large, they host in Springfield. So BU gets sent west. I suspect that to maintain bracket intby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

marty ugarte Castagna x2. Really working down low and taking advantage of Craws' failure to control the puck. Not Craws, Kraws! RE: Get Smart,1965! +!00 for that. I used to work with a woman whose last name was Krah. Every time I heard it, I though "Not Krah, Krah!"by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

cth95 That's frustrating to learn after the games are over. I asked someone at the door after looking around for a program, and she said there weren't any. I agree.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Scersk '97 adamw For the record, I support LP for the ECAC Tournament - even though getting to Albany, and especially Atlantic City (or MSG/Barclays/Pru) were FAR easier for me to get to personally. AC was a 1-hour drive from where I used to live, and LP is 6 hours, often on bad conditions on Rte. 30. But I don't care - I always gladly made that drive. Scersk '97 Jeff Hopkins '82 Scersk '97 Loved the moment deep in the third where our guys pinned it against the wall in the Dartmouth end for a good 45 seconds. Old time hockey. Except in the old days they would have whistled it dead after 15 seconds. Ehhh, depends on how old time we're talking. I remember quite a few scrums during my undergrad and early alum days that were let to play out forby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

adamw Also - Albany is a sh*thole. It may be a shithole, but it's our shithole. You're right, I guess. I just wish that Lake Placid didn't rip off the fans. The woman checking me in at my hotel yesterday told me that all the hotels look forward to the ECAC tournament...so they can jack up their rates!by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

I also heard something interesting at the rink last night. Apparently, Vermont has been trying to get some OOC games with Cornell, but "Cornell's AD was so pissed about UVM leaving the ECAC for Hockey East that he refused to ever allow Cornell to play them." Maybe our new AD will allow that to happen now?by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Dunc imafrshmn Schafer likes to tamp down the emotions, at least to start games. But the way this one shook out, the emotions ramped up organically, and we finally clicked. We can win a game playing one good period, and that makes us dangerous. I like the vibes going into tomorrow. Hope Kempf's knee feels better. Kempf looked good there at the end after going down!
