Re: Minneapolis Roll Call - 19 years ago
I'll be there. Staying at the Super 8 in Roseville. Let me know if there will be any organized get togethers. By the way, I've found out UND fans call Mariucci "The John" as in John Mariucci Arena (and similar to "The Joe".by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

French Rage Wrote: is a given anything is possible. Plus they have cheerleaders. Cheerleaders at a fucking hockey game. What a joke from the "state of hockey". They tried cheerleaders at Lynah in 81. They lasted a game or two, but decided to give up after all the boo-ing. As it should be.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Lutefisk? You are a very cruel man for suggesting anybody try that.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Tickets in Minny - 19 years ago
I hope nobody gets P.O.ed for me putting this on the main board instead of the exchange. I just exchanged emails with a UND fan. He's looking to dump his tickets and would prefer they ended up in the hands of COrnell or OSU fans rather than gopher fans. He's holding one for me, and is looking to round out a 2 or 4 seat package. Yes that's right. It looks like there are up to three more ticby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Re: Quit BITCHING about seeding - 19 years ago
Well if you're going to seed subjectively, then do it consistently. Don't do it when it suits you and then do it strictly by the numbers in other cases.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

adamw Wrote: They didn't need to swap CC and Denver to justify putting Michigan in Grand Rapids. I realize that. It's just a slippery slope kind of thing. Once you make one rationalization, the next becomes that much easier. Once you allow one subjectivity, the next one becomes easier. And you lose the good thing that we had, flawed as it is.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: Quit BITCHING about seeding - 19 years ago
Let's face the reality. They needed a justification to put Michigan in Grand Rapids. Otherwise the gate in that reagion would suck. After that, they knew they had free reign to toss the PWR out our apply the PWR strictly as they needed to. Welcome back to the smoke-filled room.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

IF they were in a dead heat. Volonino was essentially making the point they're still in a dead heat. After this weekend, only a homer would say that.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: Adam Wodon on crack? - 19 years ago
Or the fact that the current TUC criterion over-rewards the WCHA because their shitty teams play so many games against their top teams that even a <0.400 team like St. Cloud is a TUC.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: Yet another honors student at Harvard deserves the Hobey Baker???? - 19 years ago
I'm not sure that he was saying Cornell plays a trap. What he was saying was that everyone knows Brodeur is a talented goalie despite the fact that the Devils play a trap, just like everyone should know that McKee is a talented goalie despite Cornell's defensive system. But pushing academics as a reason why Hyphen is better than McKee? I don't buy it. That's why they have the Academic All-Aby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Re: how in bloody heck to get to MN - 19 years ago
That is exceptionally good news. You'd have to imagine that there wouldn't be a large demand for standing room for our game from the locals, nor will there be many butts in the seatsby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Yep, that's the combo I got from LGA.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: how in bloody heck to get to MN - 19 years ago
I spoke to a UND fan who was selling two on USCHO. His experience from previous regionals at Mariucci, was that there'd be plenty of seats available on the street for all games. Of course once somebody loses on Saturday, there should be even more. That's why I took the risk and bought the plane ticket without a seat. That said, I'll be working hard to get a confirmed game ticket before I leby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: how in bloody heck to get to MN - 19 years ago
Unfortunately, I don't think it's the starting point that's pushing up the fares, it the destination. Getting out of MSP is no challenge (imagine that), and getting there on Wednesday is not that bad, but flights arriving in MSP in time for the tournament are just plain booked up.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: Airfares - 19 years ago
I just posted it on another thread, but ATA is clearly the cheapest from the NYC, Jersey, SE PA area. I just booked a roundtrip from LGA to MSP for $293. It wasn't the most convenient times, but I'll use the free time to get some birdwatching in.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: how in bloody heck to get to MN - 19 years ago
OK, for those of you in the NY metro area, or like me within decent driving distance, the best airfare you're likely to find is on ATA. I just booked a ticket from LGA leaving 6 AM Friday returning Monday afternoon for $293. Newark to MSP, is about $35 more. FYI, while Southwest does not fly into MSP, they are partnered with ATA. I looked at Philly, Newark, LaGuardia, Allentown, Harrisbby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

I just spoke to a NoDak fan who has two seats and would like to sell them together. I'm travelling solo. If you are too, let's go in together. JHby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Re: Heres to hoping for staying East - 19 years ago
Actually we trail three teams and are tied with the fourth. They win on comparisons - we win on RPI. If it weren't for those stupid "double secret mystery points." And I'd have gotten away with it if it weren't for you meddling kids!by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: Anyone else think we should switch ends in Albany? - 19 years ago
I was speaking to Gleed's father this AM. He said the guys are amazed at how bad the ice is. He also said the area in front of the penalty box that they spent forever working on last night was down to the concrete. Hard to imagine switching ends will make a difference.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
