Re: Lynah advantage - 19 years ago
Not to mention the fact that the details we are talking about fall under the scope of Architecture, not Engineering, which by the way Cornell also has a pretty good School for.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: Attempting to retrieve the cowbell - 19 years ago
As opposed to Minnesota where they piped their band over the loudspeakers?by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Anybody know the planned dimensions for the as-yet-theoretical new rink at Quinny?by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: Lynah - 19 years ago
Changing an existing structure to allow for expansion, that unfortunately forces an advantage is quite acceptable, especially if that advantage is not universally accepted by the community. I can live with myself. How 'bout the rest of you?by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: Lynah - 19 years ago
They had "NCAA Runner-Up" banners hanging at Mariucci. I thought they looked weak. Kind of like saying "Me too!"by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: Increased Capacity - 19 years ago
I don't want a regional at Lynah. I could handle one at Rochester or Syracuse, but it's not fair to have home ice for the NC$$ tourney. I don't want us lowering ourselves to Minnesota's level.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: road trip of a lifetime - 19 years ago
Big time stares. I'm surprised they didn't boo. The swaying side to side during the Alma Mater got a lot of stares, too. And Section A Banshee, I'm glad the band got to participate. Just hearing the opening bars of "Davy" when the Red skated out on the ice for the first time on Saturday sent chills down my spine. Though you need to work on the tempo for "The Victors"by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Re: Charlie Cook - 19 years ago
Don't forget that the Flyers own Hyphen's rights, too. Not that he'll get any time with the big club once they start playing again. Clarkie's said that Niittymaki would be starting for the big club if the strike hadn't happened.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: Which loss was more painful? - 19 years ago
That's what I meant by my last sentence. It is NHL size ice.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: road trip of a lifetime - 19 years ago
Everyone didn't criticize it. I corrected what I thought was an error, but just a silly insignificant thing. I should have used a smiley. I'll give you credit. I had no idea that your usage was correct. mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpaby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Given the occasional hostility of Lynah ushers, and our tendency to put the visiting band on the glass in O, we're not in a very strong position to throw stones here.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: Lynah - 19 years ago
I spoke to a member of the Hockey Assn. out in Minneapolis this weekend. Some of what she described as being in the plans: - Building the new training & locker rooms and offices to the south of section B, C, D, E (towards Schoellkopf). These will be connected to the ice by an underground passage. - Team benches will be on the opposite side of the rink from each other. Not sure where thby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: TBRW Award Nominations - 19 years ago
Peter Natyshak Award, Career Improvement. This award is open to seniors or in the very rare case when no senior has demonstrated above average career improvement, juniors. The award measures how well the player has improved since starting at Cornell. Iggy. (Duh) Randy MacFarlane Award, Transcendent Beauty and Skating Prowess. Title says it all. Anne's favorite award. Re: Which loss was more painful? - 19 years ago
Minnesota will still host regionals. They just won't hold them at Mariucci. They'll host them at Xcel Center and draw 15,000 goofer fans to root against us. But at least they won't have the ice advantage, and that's all it'll take.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: road trip of a lifetime - 19 years ago
Not to mention the infield, where 75% of the plays are made is identical on every field. Imagine if the pitcher's mound was 5-10 feet closer to home plate for a team with great pitching. Even baseball doesn't allow that kind of game fixing.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: road trip of a lifetime - 19 years ago
I am so glad I made the trip to Minny. Not because I was in the state of hockey, but because I saw the never say die attitude of our team and our fans. The thing that struck me was the Faithful near me passing around throat losenges so they could continue to cheer long after their vocal cords were shot. That's dedication. I think part of the problem with Minnesota hockey fans is that they aby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: Don't Tread on Me - 19 years ago
I haven't felt this good about Cornell's chances to win consistently since I was a freshman. And that all comes down to Schafer: his ability to recruit, his ability to get the most from his players, and his game-time coaching skills. I think whoever made the basketball coach analogy was spot on. And I'll add Krzyzewski to the list. He missed winning the championship several times before tby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: 2005-06 Schedule - 19 years ago
The other way to look at it is if we go 1-0, and they slip up and go 3-0-1, we win the comparison. But it's still up to our guys to win the 1.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Re: Philly--Delaware Viewing - 19 years ago
As a side note, I heard that CSN Philly was showing some of the WCHA tournament this past weekend. I contacted them by email and they noted they have no plans to show any college hockey this coming weekend. Bummer.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: Tickets in Minny - 19 years ago
We'll just have to be loud then. I think we can pull it off. I'll come over and join the Cornell section during our game(s, hopefully). I have no idea where my official seat is.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
