Re: ESPN+ price increase - 3 months ago
marty upprdeck CU2007 Wonder how this will impact Cornell on ESPN+ its not espn+ related so it wont have much impact anyway CNET College conference networks like the ACC Network, Big Ten Network and SEC Network are included, as is ESPN Plus. that would be interesting.. So are people who dont want to pay the cheap ESPN+ price willing to pay the $30-50 to just watch sports?by upprdeck - Hockey
Re: NIL - 3 months ago
Athletics as a hole may not. bball as a singular may though Its the same argument others school may make. If fball bring in the bucks to fund the other sports can that money be separated out? Like any business with multiple divisions that all make different profits say OSU makes 80 million from TV and spends 60 and then 20 goes to someplace else at the college. Is there really a profiby upprdeck - John Spencer Is Dead

Mr. Niss Article about our tournament chances on USCHO today It also pts out the issue of RPI having so much power in the rankings.by upprdeck - Hockey
Re: NIL - 3 months ago
You really think that Dart will now turn around and pay 300 athletes because they join a union? Because it wont just be one sport doing this? And do all the ivies bargain together with the union to level the field? or do all the schools in the ncaa do that like the pros do? That required some exemptions from congress? And how will union pay work? Do all the kids get the same amount? Do starby upprdeck - John Spencer Is Dead

the good news is that they could get a game vs BC now if Bu were to win.by upprdeck - Hockey
Re: Men’s Basketball 23-24 - 3 months ago
CAS Playoffs? Cornell beat Brown & Dartmouth on the road by a combined 4 points. Let’s see what happens at Yale. When you give a team 38Fts it gets hard to win vs Brown Then vs Dart we shoot 31 3's and make 6. Both things we need to avoid as often as we can.by upprdeck - Other Sports

If they win out. they may be ranked be default and that buys some good will regardless of SOS and NET and stuffby upprdeck - Other Sports
Re: Men’s Basketball 23-24 - 3 months ago
If they win out and lose the last Game there is a slight chance of an At large bid.by upprdeck - Other Sports

Playing the PWR what if is pretty hard to see us getting very much higher without some bad play above us no matter how well we play down the stretch. If Mich doesnt get swept this weekend by MSU they gain on us and if they sweep they really gain on us Umass has 4 chances to win over higher ranked teams. so best to have them beat UNH in a few weeks and hope they lose a bunch if WMU juby upprdeck - Hockey
Re: Clarkson at Cornell, 2/3 - 3 months ago
WMU has gone 2-5 and has gotten up to 10th in fact. I guess beating Denver twice does help Not beating Umass costs us its also an example of RPI being of more value than anything else. Look at Prov. 2-3 vs COP we a 3-0-2 but it doesnt matter that the result of 10 games we are better RPI wins out. 5-0 vs 0-5 would not help either.. There should be some weighting on COP once you play aby upprdeck - Hockey

Re: St. Lawrence at Cornell, 2/2 - 3 months ago
tickets are being sold. people are not coming.. In the old days people came all the time.. Now many townies have tickets but dont come both nights. You cant give them away any more so sold tickets become empty seats more often on the townie side. I dont think pricing is keeping the students away. And while many dont care I know covid is still a thing driving some to stay home.by upprdeck - Hockey
Re: Opponents and Others 2023-24 - 3 months ago
we need BU/BC to do their thing as well as Ndak/Denver and MSU/Minn/Wisc Mich is only a few games over .500 and under .500 in the B10.. They get swept by MSU and/OR Minn and they could fall below .500 crazy world where UNH is 8th in HE but 16th in PWRby upprdeck - Hockey
Re: St. Lawrence at Cornell, 2/2 - 3 months ago
Back to 2nd in the ECAC now. a win tomorrow and we will open up a 4pt lead over 4th. 8 teams within 6 pts of 2nd place 2nd place BC has 11 pts over 3rd place in HE.by upprdeck - Hockey

Bigger news is that Princeton went on the road and lost to Yale as well. So next weeks Yale game becomes even bigger, now that they both have a 2 game lead over Princetonby upprdeck - Other Sports
Re: TV sports packages, streaming, ESPN+ - 3 months ago
So ESPN+ is going to start locking down password sharing like Netflix.. That is fine. My question is the same one that Netflix cant answer.. I have 2 ISPs.. I cant even watch the service within my own house because they dont have a system that handles multiple ISPs yet the policy they use to enforce the rules clearly states a household.. Its like they made up a rule and don't know how tby upprdeck - John Spencer Is Dead

Much like Syracuse chooses to do Orange day when playing Clemson. also announcing it the day of the game is pretty dumb as a promotion.by upprdeck - Hockey
Re: Yet another collegetown bar bites the dust - 3 months ago
Jeff Hopkins '82 ugarte Cop at Lynah The Collegetown bar scene came under siege of the ABC board in the late 90's and continued through the early 2000's At that time Avarmis owned the most frequented bars in college town and his establishments were targeted for enforcement on many occasions by the ABC Board. I was part of those enforcement activities and the fines that the ABC Board doled out madby upprdeck - John Spencer Is Dead

roller derby is in the mall about once a month.. They sell tickets so there must be some audience for it.by upprdeck - Hockey
Re: Cornell at Dartmouth, 1/27 - 3 months ago
Al DeFlorio upprdeck Is it a different game? for sure. But its still hockey because it can and does happen in the real game even if in very limited situations. Like Bball when a game is played 5x3.. not fun to watch and doesn't happen that often, but it does. It happened in a real game for a reason: actual called penalties. It happens in overtime because some assholes decided to do it thaby upprdeck - Hockey
