Re: Frozen Four - 9 years ago
ACM For me, the hierarchy is pretty clear: BU - Brian Kelley, BU's AAD for Communications, is an IC grad, and a former assistant director of athletic communications at Cornell, and an all-around good guy who I'd be happy to have associated with a national championship. And it's the only chance we'll have next year to knock off the defending national champions, when we play BU at the Garden.by Bahnstorm - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros -- March - June 2015 - 9 years ago
toddlose Found this today. Few on here are our boys. Don't recall seeing this on ELynah. Figured this was best place to post this. Deslided:by Bahnstorm - Hockey
Re: LED lighting at Cornell sports facilities - 9 years ago
Most of the facilities were completed over the winter break (before the article was pubished), including Lynah. On paper it is a dramatic increase in lighting power.by Bahnstorm - Other Sports
Re: Free* Cornell Hockey Stuff - 9 years ago
The library (University Archives) always appreciates items, photos, films, and ephemera. I've built up the hockey holdings over the years, with help from folks on this forum, but, probably because of the greater alumni base, the football collections, , have grown the most. Not counting all the other photos and ephemera, we've tracked down over 1000 game films, we sadly lost a bidding war on eBaby Bahnstorm - Hockey
Re: Tonight's game v. Penn State - 9 years ago
George64 Although most referees today are rather bland, Giles Threadgold was an exception. For those of you too young to remember him, here's an interesting article from the March 17, 1970 edition of the Sun. My father was just talking about Giles last month and commented about how the crowd would cheer him. Timely post.by Bahnstorm - Hockey
Re: ECAC 2014-15 - 9 years ago
Iceberg I'm curious to see whether Colgate can hold off BU. As of 18 seconds into the third, survey says... no. There is video of this game available linked off here YMMV.by Bahnstorm - Hockey
Re: Killing Two-Man Disadvantages - 9 years ago
Jordan 04 The two-man advantage is the most dangerous man-advantage in hockey. First, ha. Dafatone And here I thought this would be about former Clarkson goalie David Leggio purposefully dislodging the net when facing a 2-on-0 th.e other day Second, that video was hilarious. The O players flub the play so Leggio's move wasn't even necessary, but what puts it over the top is seeing him signby Bahnstorm - Hockey
Re: Halloween: Cornell 1 UNO 1 (ot) - 9 years ago
Even more disturbing was the number of students who left at the end of the third because they had "parties to go to" WTH? 5 minutes of OT hockey is really going to throw off your drinking that much? Trotsky Sections empty during lineups. That's poor, Ithacans; that's poor.by Bahnstorm - Hockey

Re: NCAA Tournament Game Thread 3/29 - 10 years ago
At this point any damage regarding recruiting has already been done. U is in the Frozen Four, we are not. Might as well pull for the ECAC.by Bahnstorm - Hockey

Re: Cornell @ Harvard 1/17/14 - 10 years ago
dbilmes Harvard pep band replaced by a middle school band which featured 10 percussionists. Unlike the Harvard band, they were all there well before the game began. They also sounded nearly as good as Harvard band usually sounds. I think Cornell should reach out to do this same thing when the college students are on break. As a former pep band person back in middle and high school, my band woby Bahnstorm - Hockey

Beeeej Very sorry to hear about your friend's untimely passing. I thought you might enjoy knowing that not only did "Section D Tonight" continue after you graduated, but it's still remembered. You may not have seen these posts when I made them a few years ago, but: Anyone willing to have copies of Section D Tonight preserved in the University Archives, I'll gladly add any you geby Bahnstorm - Hockey
Re: Russian Red Stars - 10 years ago
I would like to see a rematch when the Red Stars are fresh. It was a fun game and they showed talent in spurts, but there was a major case of bus legs and general road weariness out there.by Bahnstorm - Hockey

Re: Greg Miller signs with Bridgeport (AHL affiliate of the Islanders) - 11 years ago
Swampy ugarte A team that doesn't have much blocking his path, anyway. Except there would be 2 Cornell alums on the NHL team. When has that happened before? Murray and Vesce in 2009 with the Sharks as well.by Bahnstorm - Hockey
Re: Women this weekend on ESPN3 - 11 years ago
FWIW campus priorities don't always dictate what gets funded with donor $ or what gets attention. It just takes engaged alumni pushing. This is a very good example: Its just a matter of getting the right people, who have the clout/$ to push buttons, excited about the project.by Bahnstorm - Hockey
Re: Women this weekend on ESPN3 - 11 years ago
In terms of advertising I noticed in the UVA lax stream they cut to a full screen advertisement page between almost every whistle while maintaining the audio from the commentators.by Bahnstorm - Hockey
Re: Women this weekend on ESPN3 - 11 years ago
I think what would be ideal to happen is one or two big time alums step in and say we'll help with an endowment, but make your athletic video setup like rpi/yale whomever and make it free. I get good will towards the university watching sport, I get ill will spending time screwing around with BS video feeds. Get it right, plug the hell out of it and generate a lot of fans of major and minor sportby Bahnstorm - Hockey

Here is video of the $10,000 winning goal potted by Rich Trinkl; this goes on the list of crazy things I've seen at Lynah: video: Hope the radio station had insurance on the contest.by Bahnstorm - Hockey
Re: General Women's Thread - 11 years ago
Only goal was the dude who hit the between period $10,000 slapshot jackpot. Anyone get video of that or have a capture of the game stream? That was a ridiculous shot. Through a puck size hole from the far blue line on one attempt.by Bahnstorm - Hockey
Re: PU @ CU - 11 years ago
On the plus we hold them to 0 shots in the third and with a minute left that was the loudest Lynah has been in awhile.by Bahnstorm - Hockey
Re: General Women's Thread - 11 years ago
marty Jim Hyla NU video has very good quality so far. Syncs well with Redcast audio. Very depressing broadcast because our Redcast sucks so much in comparison. Congrats to the team on a great win. Couldn't agree more. It is so sad when I see such a professional high qualty stream / well done broadcast on all levels and then I compare it to what we at Cornell get. Not only is the quality bettby Bahnstorm - Hockey
Re: Cornell 3 Clarkson 1: Just Win, Baby - 11 years ago
The clakson band kept playing over arthur so I guess some of their fans don't care about trying to understand what was going on or hear stats. When the ref debacle was finally somewhat sorted out and Arthur tried telling everyone what was happening their band was still just banging away with random crap and it evoked a giant shut up in unison from section N townies, forceful enough that it startby Bahnstorm - Hockey

Re: Cornell games VHS to DVD - 12 years ago
Good time to remind everyone that in the University archives I have slowly been building our athletic media holdings for all sports. The long term goal is to have a huge online gallery. Hockey unfortunatly has been pretty slim despite my digging: While pretty measly compared to the 1000s of films from the football team, or even the lacrosse team collection, it is a start.
