Re: Section G: Problem Solved - 15 years ago
Looks like the issue is "solved" for the remainder of the season: Athletics Ticket Office Dear Section G hockey season ticket holder, Thank you for purchasing your Cornell Men's Ice Hockey season tickets and your continued support of the Big Red. With the increased sale of tickets in Section G to local fans (townies), it is necessary to prohibit standing in the section during plaby JDeafv - Hockey
AitP Nov. 2008 - Sasha Pokulok - 15 years ago
Sasha escaped a fire in his apartment building last night. He's ok, as are his dog and cat, and the article says a pregnant girlfriend was out of town. Sasha has 1 G, 2A, +6 in 6 games with S.C. this year.by JDeafv - Hockey

Was anybody else surprised to see Riley Nash on the PK? Is it possible Schafer is actually trying to make Riley a better player by forcing him to play on the PK?by JDeafv - Hockey
Re: Cornell 3 US U18 NDT 3 (final, ot) - 15 years ago
ebilmes -Goaltending. Scrivens looked decent during his 30 minutes of play. He only had 9 saves, but some of them were tough. Garman looked even better IMO. I felt very comfortable when he was in net, even with the 2 GA. When Schafer said he might remind people of Lenny or McKee, he wasn't reaching too much. I have agree that Garman looked like McKee, but he looked like the McKee who was reactby JDeafv - Hockey
Re: Cornell 3 US U18 NDT 3 (final, ot) - 15 years ago
profudgeJim Hyla, 5 Min major to Brendan Nash happened about a half a second or so after whistle to end the period.... What was also weird was at least 2 USA players jumped off the bench to get into a scrum with Nash (who turned away). Schafer saw this and sent Nicholls off the Cornell bench across the ice. After the period Schafer was arguing with the Refs not about the 5-min major, butby JDeafv - Hockey
Re: Cornell to play two @ North Dakota - 15 years ago
I watched the ticket office personnel actually open the envelope from NoDak.by JDeafv - Hockey
Re: Cornell to play two @ North Dakota - 15 years ago
Cornell ticket office has tickets to the 2 NoDak games. Cornell got 120 tickets/game (not including comps) and all tickets (including comps) are in section 311, rows F-H.by JDeafv - Hockey

Dpperk29yes I feel the same way about the idiots who do this sort of crap at Cheel. It's not personal, but where does that leave the infamous Clarkson cheer: "Hey , I'm going to take off 's skate and slit your throat."by JDeafv - Hockey

Kate and I are strongly considering, but it looks like it will mean travel to MSP on Thanksgiving. We'd be up for carpooling from MSP. Anybody else want to do an eLynah T-giving in MSP or Grand Forks?by JDeafv - Hockey
Re: Athletics Announces Hockey Line Procedure - 15 years ago
Dpperk29Townie and since he asked what address to send the renewal form next year I would guess permenent. I had heard there was a dramatic increase in the number of people called off the townie waiting list this year due to a number of people simply not renewing tickets.by JDeafv - Hockey
Re: Red White Game? - 15 years ago
Cornell's first official practice is not until the 17th. Usually, the Red/White game coincides with the first official practice, but not if it's the night before the U-18 game.by JDeafv - Hockey

Also the tickets are thin again this year. Have any townie season ticket holders received their tickets?by JDeafv - Hockey
Re: Athletics Announces Hockey Line Procedure - 15 years ago
Graduate students chose their seats last night, all the seats in Section B and D (136 seats) were chosen, but only about 50-60 seats in Section G, meaning the graduate student tickets did not sell out. Also, some of the players noticed the decrease in attendance at the line when they came into the Ramin Room around 8:45 and wondered what was going on.by JDeafv - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - September 2008 - CHL Strike - 15 years ago
Looks like the players in the CHL went out on strike. I guess this will affect guys like Pegararo, McLeod, and Krantz. I can't think of who else is playing down there this season.by JDeafv - Hockey

ebilmesstark contrast between hockey ticket prices and those for other sports. Men's hockey needs to stay in the black -- it's the only sport at Cornell that is!by JDeafv - Hockey

Re: AitP - April 2008 (Texas Brahmas) - 16 years ago
The Texas Brahmas with Kevin McLeod and Doug Krantz were eliminated from the CHL playoffs with their game 7 loss to Colorado after being down 3-1 in the series. Krantz had an assist in game 7 and McLeod in game 6. Colorado started a bit of a melee after game 6, and Krantz (wearing #18 in dark) can be seen tied up with a Colorado player in this YouTube video.by JDeafv - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - April 2008 - 16 years ago
We played a pretty rigid system at school. Perhaps too rigid? Barry Melrose had a piece earlier in the year about the Washington Capitals playing in such a rigid system under former coach Glen Hanlon that they weren't able be create goal scoring opportunities. The system changed under Bruce Boudreau to a disciplined system with options for all players on the ice, not just the most skillby JDeafv - Hockey
Re: Cornell's 2008-2009 ECAC Schedule - 16 years ago
jkahnIn the '06-'07 season when the BU game was announced, Coach Schafer was quoted by USCHO about future series vs. BU, North Dakota and UNH. Has anybody heard anything recently about the latter two? Since we're in rumorville: I heard we're playing 2 in Grand Forks the weekend after Thanksgiving on Friday and Saturday.by JDeafv - Hockey
Re: Riley Nash ECAC ROTY - 16 years ago
ebilmes Schafer gives him lots of ice time, but I've seen this as more a reflection of the poor alternatives (Johnston, Berk) than of Devin's play. He hasn't been bad for a freshman, but I find it hard to believe that he was one of the two best rookie defensemen in the ECAC. Johnston and Berk are not battling Devin for ice time. Nash, Seminoff, Krantz, and Krueger are the choices Schafer has fby JDeafv - Hockey
Re: Riley Nash ECAC ROTY - 16 years ago
ebilmespfibiger All-Rookie Team D – Mike Devin, Cornell Really? Mike Devin has more responsibility than any other freshman on the team. For all the tough spots he is forced to play, he does remarkably well and deserves the all-rookie team honors.by JDeafv - Hockey
Re: Bloom Hockey Center? - 16 years ago
A quick double check this morning confirms: "Bloom Hockey Center" over the bike room, but "Lynah Rink" over the walkway to the south entrance. I figured they would put the sign up and maybe make an announcement at a home game, or put out a press release.by JDeafv - Hockey
Bloom Hockey Center? - 16 years ago
Kate saw a new sign going up on the outside of Lynah rink (above the exercise bike room) reading "Bloom Hockey Center." Does anybody have any info on this? I do realize Schafer is the Jay R. Bloom head hockey coach, but did he give additional money to the renovation?by JDeafv - Hockey
