Re: Big Red 4-Onion 4 - 12 years ago
Garman split with Iles b/c last year was a rebuilding year, and by the time the team was ready to compete nationally again, Garman would've been gone anyways, plus Iles was a blue-chip recruit, so it makes sense to play him and get him ready for the future. Marozzi was a last minute backup addition. I'm sure the ideal goal is to bring in Iles' true successsor likely during his senior year, as pby underskill - Hockey
Re: National Collegiate Hockey Conference - 12 years ago
Aaron M. Griffin More evidence that CBS Sports and NBC Sports think that there is a market for college hockey? Seems that the ECAC is going to be left out. B1G Hockey will have BTN. NCHC will have CBS Sports. Notre Dame and HEA will have NBC Sports. Except those conferences have Michigan, Notre Dame, UND, etc. The ECAC has Clarkson and RPI. There's no sizeable TV markets besides Boston, wby underskill - Hockey

Re: CFL team still interested in Kent Austin - 12 years ago
If he is staying he's probably just leveraging this interest into a raise.by underskill - Other Sports
Re: CFL team still interested in Kent Austin - 12 years ago
I could see him going back to Toronto if anywhere in the CFL next year, Saskatchewan isn't the same team as when he left. Most likely if and when he leaves it is back to Ole Miss at some stage.by underskill - Other Sports

Re: CU Hockey-Preseason - 12 years ago
ajh258 nyc94 ajh258 Looks like this isn't the same Yale team we saw last year. 2-2 OT against Princeton, 30-28 SOGs. Yale also lost their exhibition game against Waterloo last weekend. Yale had a 42-32 shot advantage and they started a different goalie in each period. I was aware, but Waterloo was an exhibition opener, so the outcome could've been skewed if Allain simply wanted the new guysby underskill - Hockey
Re: Overrated Chant - 13 years ago
phillysportsfan Yeah but the chant did what it was supposed to make SU even angrier, we have had enough painful losses to these guys over the past few years that we will always have more of a chip going into the game I don't think the SU players cared at all what 20 Cornell students were chanting; they will probably have enough motivation in the NCAA tournament, b/c well, it's the NCAA tournameby underskill - Other Sports
Re: NCAA regionals 2011 - 13 years ago
Scersk '97 underskill assuming the score does hold up, it does lend some support to the idea that the way for ECAC teams to compete nationally is through defense and goaltending, b/c no matter how talented you are offensively, it won't hold up against the WCHA teams' skill level. You know, I was thinking instead about how UMD doesn't look all that skilled but looks hard-nosed and, to use that wby underskill - Hockey

any close call like that hit is going to go that way given the crackdown on headshots now though. Besides, watching Yale choke this away is pretty amusing.by underskill - Hockey
Re: Cu - 0 Yale - 6 after two - 13 years ago
css228 Ben css228 ajh258 I'm disappointed that we have such low standards. No wonder student attendance has been declining. As a current student I can tell you the exact reason why student attendance has been declining. I know tons of people who'd love to have season tickets and just can't afford to shell out $260 dollars. As a result the a lot of the people who replaced them are people who thougby underskill - Hockey
Re: Cu - 0 Yale - ECAC finals (postgame) - 13 years ago
Dafatone Kyle Rose Trotsky We will disagree, but I don't think you can just "figure out" how to compete with a team that is simply head and shoulders superior to you They may not figure out how to win, but they certainly should be able to figure out how not to lose 6-0 after several years of observation and planning. I hate to go with "wait and see" as a strategy, but I thinby underskill - Hockey
Re: Cu - 0 Yale - ECAC finals (postgame) - 13 years ago
css228 Rita Thank you Chris for compiling this list. I was trying to recall how many national championships Michigan has won in the past decade or so. I thought it was a big fat zero. Glad to know I still have some memory cells that still function . Almost every year, Cornell is in a position to win the ECACs and/or have a PWR ranking that puts them in position to be in the NC$$ tournament.by underskill - Hockey

Re: The Sad Thread: Worst Losses in Cornell History - 13 years ago
Chris '03 RichH Nobody mentioned the 2002 "UHN" game in Worcester. I guess it goes in the "we had 'em where we wanted 'em" category of potential upsets, similar to the 2005 game vs. Minnesota. Not many gave us a great shot against #1 UNH...we were suckered into playing UNH's style in the 1st period (seeing 4 total goals in the first 6 minutes was shocking for that team), and tby underskill - Hockey
Re: Harvard 3, Cornell 3, 3rd period, 11:28 left - 13 years ago
ScrewBU jkahn BigRedHockeyFan Idiot Fans! Bench minor on Cornell for fish on the ice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Schafer should offer to play both games at Lynah East next season, a smarter collection of Cornell fans there. That's a great offer, actually. The few real fans left at Lynah wouldn't have to be subjected to this gutless, undisciplined abortion of a team be incompetent on the power plby underskill - Hockey
Re: Cornell 4 Quinnipiac 1 Final - 13 years ago
ajh258 Had a fun night. Our performance wasn't completely consistent, but most of it was good and we looked like a contender for the ECAC championship again. In other news, sections A and B sucked at doing coordinated chants besides the obvious ones. The student fans need more practice, especially since there's a lot of freshmen this year. Let's hope this momentum carries on to tomorrow'sby underskill - Hockey

Re: The Jersey - 13 years ago
Towerroad I like the old style better but it might be an economy move. The whole University is taking large cuts owning to the losses in the endowment and the need to offer more discounts (the proper term for financial aid) in the presence of out of control tuition and the economic meltdown. In the end my loyalty is to the team and the players in the uniform. If it is Carnelian I am cheeringby underskill - Hockey

Re: CU's 2010-2011 Schedule - 13 years ago
geez, all you guys do is bitch. If you don't want to go to the game, don't, but its a game in a great arena, 20 minute train ride from NY, which is a lot more accessible than Lynah for most people, meaning its the one time most alumni can see them in person this year--who cares if its just Colgate?by underskill - Hockey
