Re: Cornell lacrosse 2021 - 3 years ago
Al DeFlorio Trotsky Cop at Lynah NYS is going to allowing "hih risk" High School sports to start on 2/1 with local approval. That includes: basketball, football, ice hockey and lacrosse Ever get the feeling people are willfully reckless, rather than stupid? Like, it's not actually a hardware limitation, but they simply prefer magical thinking -- they construct the world they want to lby underskill - Other Sports

ugarte why would they rank the ivy teams? is there any chance that they will play? The admin already destroyed the hockey program for at least 5 years so doubt they’ll do any different for lacrosse.by underskill - Other Sports

Weder The Atlantic has added a massive correction to this story and is continuing to review it, as it turns out the author has a history of being not credible. So like every other Atlantic story?by underskill - Other Sports

Case counts are irrelevant if it doesn’t lead to hospitalizations. Better to have these kids with each other on campus then staying w their older parents and family members.by underskill - Hockey

Look at any chart showing death by age range? Unless Cuomo is running the campus and stuffing them in nursing homes that is.by underskill - Hockey

These kids are at zero risk from this virus. Why are we trying to ruin their lives exactly?by underskill - Hockey

scoop85 Trotsky I get why matter collects into clumps -- that's gravity. But why do you get enough uranium atoms to collect into molecules close enough to each other that you get uranium ore? Why don't you get infinitesimal traces of uranium scattered everywhere so that most matter has a random handful of uranium atoms scattered through it. Matter concentrates but why does it become relativeby underskill - Hockey
Re: Vote Barron for Hobey - 4 years ago
Trotsky I am trying not to get excited by this. wouldn't he have the option of free agency if he doesn't sign and returns to school? can't see the Rangers letting him get that far given his upside as a cheap depth player for them.by underskill - Hockey
Re: Incoming Recruits - 4 years ago
scoop85 Trotsky Looks like a ‘21 commit; he’ll be 21 years old that September. Is he viewed as a Galadja successor or a depth goalie.by underskill - Hockey

Weder Al DeFlorio The Rancor JasonN95 ESPN article about lost opportunity for double national championships for Cornell: red helmets at home? IIRC, red helmesa in NCAA regional final last year. Bad omen. The photo is not Lynah so I think you’re right. (Though wasn’t there a short stretch in a recent season when they did wear red helmets at home?) I think that was the NCAA regional gameby underskill - Hockey

Re: Cornell Football 2019 - 4 years ago
Trotsky CAS The CFA has indicated that they negotiated with the university but were unable to reach an agreement. It’s apparent they have zero confidence that the football program will receive the institutional support needed to be competitive. Perhaps this action by football's greatest supporters will prompt the Cornell administration & board to examine the program & do what’s necessarby underskill - Other Sports

as a very casual lacrosse fan (i.e. when Cornell is in the tournament) - how did Yale get so good recently? I remember people kept thinking Harvard would make a jump, but Yale seemed to come out of nowhere.by underskill - Other Sports

or he signs an ELC, tries the AHL for a few years, and failing that, ECHL and Europe and comes back for his degree when his career is done. It's not like Pittsburgh's farm system is so loaded that he wouldn't have a chance to play.by underskill - Hockey

get in, take your shot and try not to get seeded on some other team's home ice seems the best bet, b/c it's a total crapshoot in single game elimination.by underskill - Hockey

Anne 85 KenP IMO biggest room for improvement is Strength of Schedule.I'd have said so too but our shit SOS got us to #1 in the country this year. Now, did it hurt our preparation for the playoffs? Maybe. it seems like the ECAC is now generally strong enough to prepare a team for the tournament - I'd rather play a mediocre schedule and take our chances in the tournament, instead of overscheduby underskill - Hockey
