BearLover It’s a hockey game. We have a chance of beating Denver. We are clear underdogs, but we have a chance. Maybe 2:1 odds? If we beat Denver, then the hardest part is over. Amen. I wasn't terrifically impressed with Denver when I watched Omaha (currently #18) beat them 3-0 in Denver. The next night Denver won 6-3. On the other hand, drop the home game against Union from Cornell'sby David Harding - Hockey

CU77 adamw CU77 KRACH could be adjusted to do better, as I outlined above. KRACH is a very simple model. The door is open ... I don't care enough to do it myself. In any case Massey probabilities are likely better, as they use more input (scores, locations, times). This comic says it well:by David Harding - Hockey

billhoward Thanks. I heard that (Joe's --> housing / apartments) but nothing's happening. Lot of apartments going up downtown in the vicinity west of North Meadow Street, (i.e. the street Purity, Ithaca Bakery and Joe's are on). The area along the Cascadilla inlet marina (Farmers' Market is across that inlet) has a lot of housing going up already, mixed use, also medical buildings and some ofby David Harding - John Spencer Is Dead

marty dag14 I watched the Cornell/UAlbany women's game later on Saturday and we were CORW. It took me a minute to figure it out, too. Will this sport follow? Step one:by David Harding - Other Sports

Scersk '97 arugula Have you noticed that we always seem to have small goalies? Watching Shane, he just kind of shrinks into the net. We don’t need a 6’6” keeper like Clarkson, but 6’1” would be good. They claim Shane is 6’0”. Lol. Don't get me started. I know everyone (else) loved Andy Iles… But I saw Yale open him up like a bad can of tuna in Atlantic City his freshman year, and I thinkby David Harding - Hockey

George64 George64 Movie to be released in July, Oppenheimer, “The epic thriller chronicles the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the enigmatic American scientist who ran the Manhattan Project — which led to the creation of the atomic bomb during World War II.“ As Hans Bethe, Richard Feynman and Paul Olum (had a class with him, BTW) all worked on the Manhattan Project, I think Cornell may get a mentiby David Harding - John Spencer Is Dead

Chris H82 I was looking through some of the tributes to Mike Leach today (a complex person, for sure), and there was one post-game clip where a reporter asked him about his favorite Halloween candy. While he pontificated on that, the other part of the split screen was showing the Mississippi State football team gathering with their fans to celebrate the victory, and their band was playing theirby David Harding - John Spencer Is Dead

toddlose Was at my uncles earlier today to help him “declutter” his garage and came across a copy of this. It was a shade before my time, but think a few on here may find it interesting. Last week our family gathered in Denver for Thanksgiving. Friday evening some of us went to the DU-UNO game Unranked Omaha beat Denver 3-0., so I was feeling a bit optimistic anticipating the MSG game. The DU rink seats about 6000 for hockey. Perhaps due the school being on vacation, I'd guess the stands were about 2/3 full. The place felt dead. I was quite disappointed that there wasby David Harding - Hockey
Re: ECAC Playoff Changes - 1 year ago
upprdeck Its simple math for sure.. Its a couple more possible days in a hotel and food for 30+ people x4. Travel cost is the same. You also have to look at the revenue generated since the league gets the playoff money more than the local school does. just spitball some random numbers, 2K of tickets at say $25 is $5k of income. 30 people is $100 a night for 15 rooms is $1500, food is 30x$1by David Harding - Hockey

RichH Trotsky They need to stop trying to make "Yell Cornell" happen. It's so embarrassing. billhoward osorojo All this bushwa about the "best" ranked colleges/universities is an exercise comparing wrestlers to high-jumpers. e.g.: Which is better, Cornell's Veterinary School or Harvard's Foreign Language Department? There is money to be made rating colleges. There is intense interest among high schoolers and parents in knowing which is the best school to attend – or "giveby David Harding - Hockey

ACM dbilmes arugula Yes the inaccuracies, bad grammar, and poor syntax are rather shocking. I don't know if Brandon Thomas still works for the Sports Information Office, but if he does, I'm sure this wasn't written by him. He doesn't. He left at the end of last season for another job at Cornell. ?by David Harding - Hockey
