Re: Cornell football 2023 - 6 months ago
During Pollack’s presidency, applications for admission & yield have reached new highs, & admit rates record lows. The last two years were the best fundraising years in Cornell’s history. And Cornell is planning to build the new indoor athletics facility.by CAS - Other Sports
Re: Empty seats at Lynah - 6 months ago
Reported attendance of 4,316 for both games is actually higher than what was the prior Lynah capacity of 4,267 (maybe the balcony standing room?).by CAS - Hockey
Re: Empty seats at Lynah - 6 months ago
I’m not arguing against lowering ticket prices, which I support. My point is I believe Cornell hockey tickets at less than $20/game for townies (& cheaper for students) - with no seat more than 14 rows from the ice - is a great value.by CAS - Hockey
Re: Empty seats at Lynah - 6 months ago
Season tix also include the 2 exhibition games (& a Cornell cap this year). With ECAC playoff tix, that’s 17 or 18 home games. The best reason though to buy season tix is that it supports Cornell Big Red hockey.by CAS - Hockey
Re: Empty seats at Lynah - 6 months ago
Cornell reported that attendance was 4,316 for both games last weekend, which must be a sell out or close to it. Obviously some ticket holders don’t make it to the games. Most season tickets cost less than $20/game. Although I support lower ticket prices, I think Cornell hockey tix are a very good value. I doubt Cornell tix are more expensive than at many other colleges. Season tix at less tby CAS - Hockey

Believe Cornell was considering two on-campus sites for the new rec center, which would be used by both students & teams.by CAS - Other Sports

I have heard that the new indoor recreation & sports bldg is still in the works - they are trying to finish the fundraising. Inflation raised the cost of the facility.by CAS - Other Sports
Re: Season Tickets (now with booze?) - 7 months ago
As I wrote before, last year Cornell hockey still had the highest average attendance of any ECAC school & the second highest percentage of capacity (behind only Quinnipiac, whose rink has 900 fewer seats). Student attendance was outstanding.by CAS - Hockey

Re: Season Tickets (now with booze?) - 11 months ago
In 2022-3, Cornell hockey still had the highest average attendance (3,730) of any ECAC school & the second highest percentage of capacity (87.4%), behind only Quinnipiac. These numbers included games played during intercession & the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, when students were mostly away. Student attendance was outstanding when classes were in session.by CAS - Hockey
Re: Season Tickets (now with booze?) - 11 months ago
Tickets to the Harvard game are always sold out. Season ticket holders are “entitled to presale access to select games”. I take this to mean that season ticket holders can buy additional tix to the Harvard game before the public sale. But the best reason to buy season tickets is that it supports Cornell Big Red Hockey!by CAS - Hockey
Re: Season Tickets (now with booze?) - 11 months ago
Season tickets are now on sale for everyone (not just prior season ticket holders). I believe they are a great value, as most seats in Lynah cost less than $20/game. The athletic department season ticket release mentions “a multiple of benefits” in addition to the tix, including free merchandise. Who knows about this, but I look forward to again being in Lynah. I renewed all my seats. What wby CAS - Hockey

Cornell had an impressive 5 recruits listed on NHL’s final Central Scouring rankings - Hoyt Stanley (#85), Jonathan Castagna (91), Chase Pirtle (189), Ben Robertson (193), & Nick Wolfenberg (212).by CAS - Hockey
Re: Who deserves 2023 D1 championship - 1 year ago
Doubt Quinnipiac has any difficulty admitting hockey players. Quinnipiac’s 2021-2 Common Data Set reveals they admitted 89% of applicants (with an 11% yield). Btw the 11% yield is boosted by early decision & waitlist acceptances.by CAS - Hockey
Re: 2023 ECAC Post Season - 1 year ago
Just wrote in the incoming recruit thread that Cornell’s recent recruiting seems outstanding. Next year brings 2 drafted players & the 2nd highest scoring F & 4th highest scoring D in the USHL. Plus Cornell has 4 other ranked prospects in the NHL’s Central Scouring midterm draft rankings.by CAS - Hockey
Re: 2022 Incoming Recruits - 1 year ago
Cornell’s class coming in the fall will include at least 2 drafted commits (Fegaras & Devlin) & the 2nd highest scoring F (Walsh) & 4th highest scoring D (Robertson) in the USHL. Plus there are 4 other Cornell commits on the NHL’s Central Scouting midterm draft prospects list. Current recruiting looks really good.by CAS - Hockey
Re: New athletic director Nicki Moore - 1 year ago
I would hope in the current capital campaign Cornell would prioritize raising the additional money necessary to fund the project’s higher cost. Building an indoor athletic facility is for the Greater Good of the campus.by CAS - Other Sports
Re: Cornell admissions - 1 year ago
Safely schools don’t have high yields (% of admits who enroll). Last year Cornell had a yield of 68.4%. Regular decision admits (not including early decision & waitlist admits who enroll at very high rates) had a yield of 50%. I believe both yields were record highs for Cornell.by CAS - John Spencer Is Dead
