Re: Men's soccer off to 8-0 start - 11 years ago
Apparently Ivy League soccer is highly regarded so hosting is not as unusual as it might otherwise seem to those on this forum who were in pre-school when Cornell last went to the tournament. I on the otherhand remember the last outright Ivy Championship and the guys who played on that team....by dag14 - Other Sports

Men's soccer beats Columbia 1-0 to win the Ivy outright for the first time since 1977. Congratulations are definitely in order!by dag14 - Other Sports

You wouldn't find it offensive that someone you don't know contacts you by email asking you to dish dirt on one of your colleagues? Kudo to Coach for saying what he thinks.by dag14 - Hockey
Re: Gate @ Cornell - 11 years ago
Those of you criticizing officials for losing sight of the puck. prematurely blowing the whistle, deferring to the official in the offensive end, etc., etc,, etc., have obviously never officiated a hockey game. Let alone a Division I level hockey game. It is frickin' impossible to get it perfect everytime. How does one anticipate where the puck will end up with reference to where the bodies arby dag14 - Hockey
Re: Gate @ Cornell - 11 years ago
Broadcast comment on the waved-off goal was that whistle blew so play should have stopped even though puck was still in play so no goalby dag14 - Hockey
Women -- Princeton & Quinnipiac - 11 years ago
The women roll over Princeton on Friday 4-0 and then squeak by Quinnipiac 4-3 on Saturday. Lauren Slebodnick left the game Friday, presumably with an injury and was replaced by Moak who played well, although neither goalie was particularly challenged. Moak started Saturday. Cornell was up 2-0 at the end of the first period and Quinn scored two pretty quickly in the second to tie. Moak left atby dag14 - Hockey
Re: Cornell - Gate - 11 years ago
Kirill is a junior not a senior and there are 6 other defensemen on the roster all of whom may be viewed as being equially talented by the coaching staff. We have healthy scratches every Friday at forward, and many of those guys play on Saturday of the same weekend. Why can't this also be the case with a defenseman? He could also be sick or injured. Re: Red Cast Really Sucks - 11 years ago
I paid %5.95 to watch/listen to the Colgate b'cast and enjoyed it very much. Loved the comments about the "packed Starr Rink." Was it really packed? It is hard to tell watching the video stream but I would have sworn there were lots of empty seats.by dag14 - Hockey

Re: Cornell 2, CC 0 (game 1 Friday) - 11 years ago
Jason Vogel was not an engineer; I didn't think Ryan Hughes was either but since I was a student during the Plestiocene my memory isn't perfect.by dag14 - Hockey
Re: Cornell women 5, BU 2 - 11 years ago
I didn't see the end of the game but it was 1-1 when BU scored with 19 seconds left in the second period. We had the puck on offense, took a shot, BU controlled the rebound and went down the ice 3 on 1 to score. That 3 on 1 resulted from a lack of hustle....had Cornell played all 20 min of that period, we likely would have gone into the lockerroom tied. The BU goaltender was outstanding todayby dag14 - Hockey
Cornell women 5, BU 2 - 11 years ago
After a slow start the women's hockey team started to click in the second period and beat BU 5-2 with an ENG. We had 2 short-handed goals to tie at 2-2 and then take the lead for good. I was switching between the men and women so didn't catch those goals to know whether we created the opportunities or just got lucky to get an odd-man rush.by dag14 - Hockey

I had problems watching soccer at Colgate. No video until about 20 min into the game after we had scored a goal. Must be an upstate NY sidearm phenomenon.by dag14 - Hockey
Re: Women's Preseason - 11 years ago
Women lose to Montreal 1-3. No exaggeration: half the visitor's roster listed "Team Canada" as last team played for. Both goal tenders who played were on the Olympic team. And this wasn't a team of 35-year-old Olympians, either. They were unbelieveable athletes and a pleasure to watch. That being said, given that our coaches have been on the ice for a week and this was the team'by dag14 - Hockey

Men's soccer tops Colgate 3-1 to go to 11-0-0. We were clearly the better team but it was a sloppy effort.by dag14 - Other Sports

Re: Red Cast Really Sucks - 11 years ago
When I was watching the sprint video it showed no score. Linking to live stats via the sprint football schedule, live stats shows Cornell up 20-0 as the second half starts. Still no video even though second half has started. And the weather is not that bad. It is drizzling with no lightning, etc.by dag14 - Hockey

Re: Men's soccer off to 8-0 start - 11 years ago
I have been to every home game and they are a lot of fun to watch, other than the disturbing tendency to give up a soft goal early. Hartwick scored its only goal in a 4-1 game 21 seconds in, for example. That being said, watching Cornell then work to tie and eventually win is exciting. All the credit goes to the coaching staff I suspect, first for recruiting the talent and then successfully coby dag14 - Other Sports

Since I am no longer an undergrad, I wouldn't do jammies at a football game....by dag14 - Hockey
Re: Red Cast Really Sucks - 11 years ago
200% better than any sprint video I watched in the past. I was heading out the door to attend the game when I heard thunder. Saved me hanging around for what turned out to be a 2 hr weather delay. So I particularly appreciated the fact that I could drink beer in my jammies in my living room to watch a pretty decent Redcast broadcast of the game.by dag14 - Hockey

Cornell leads ECU 4-2 after 4 innings. They batted around; runners advancing one base at a time to score 4 runs in the inning.by dag14 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell baseball no-hitter - 11 years ago
Sorry; I may not have been clear. UNC had the great pitching. Ours was "decent." In that our starter didn't completely suck. Our defense kept us in the game early, however. Now we need to win tomorrow.by dag14 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell baseball no-hitter - 11 years ago
Through the first 5 innings we played great defense and had decent pitching, but for one 4-run inning. We didn't hit as effectively as UNC so they were not called upon to play great defense. They got great pitching but for one home run. Hence the 5-2 score. I just got a text from CU Athletics indicating they hope to resume at 5:45.by dag14 - Other Sports
