#NEWS - Doug Derraugh has been named head coach of Canada's National Women's Team. pic.twitter.com/XTqUVQdclF— Team Canada Women (@HC_Women) July 7, 2014 Someone help me with what that means. Is it like the men's job where the coach has another full time job or is this a full time job? Either way congrats to Doug. Cornell Men's Lacrosse 2015 - 9 years ago
Figured this should start the 2015 thread: . @CornellSports hires interim coach Matt Kerwick to coach men's lacrosse team. Took over after dismissal of Ben DeLuca last fall.— Thomas Fleischman (@TomF_IJSports) June 11, 2014 Personally I'm very happy with the decision.by Ronald '09 - Other Sports

TimV Current successful Head Coaches Bates at Princeton and Murphy at Penn were not familiar names before they were hired, so I suspect there are other good assistants available, like Dave Metzbower at Loyola, at one time thought to be the successor to Tierney at Princeton. In my opinion you lose a lot of credibility referring to Bates as "successful." Are we certain he is even keepinby Ronald '09 - Other Sports
Re: What is your definition of a Successful Season - 10 years ago
MattS You know what else would have gotten CU into the tourney? Winning the ECAC. I don't feel like calculating it but isn't the biggest reason we didn't make it the fact we got one point in two games against a bad Dartmouth team? I imagine the BU loss kept us out too but at least we played pretty well in that game and just every bounce went against us. Which can happen in one isolated game. Buby Ronald '09 - Hockey

Jim Hyla Question for anyone who watched the Colgate video last night. Was it choppy? I've been trying to watch and capture the game. It's very jumpy, just stops, and won't reload. Mine froze every five or six seconds and it was so unwatchable I swithed to Jason's audio after a few minutes. Thought it might be my internet connection though. If other people had the same problem, I guess not.by Ronald '09 - Hockey

sah67 Matt Moulson left the Sabres' game against Phoenix last night after taking a slash to the arm and a cross-check from Shane Doan. He appeared to be in considerable pain but there's been no update on his diagnosis/prognosis today. Upper body injury for Moulson, looks like he'll be out until after the Olympic break, #Sabres Interim Coach Ted Nolan says.— Buffalo Sabres (@BuffaloSabby Ronald '09 - Hockey

Rita Dafatone SCRIVENS From Backhand shelf: * BEN SCRIVENS. Ben Scrivens, man – he set the NHL RECORD for saves in a regular season shutout last night (regulation). 59 saves in a 3-0 win. The Sharks attempted 100 shots on the Oilers net, all told. Damn. Oh, and Taylor Hall had a goal and two assists. Whatever. And there is video. And the NHL.com recap. billhoward margolism I hate sudden death. It is not really a good indicator of team is the better team. Overtime in the first years of the NCAAs was the winner after an OT period, which is how Cornell and Maryland went into the 1976 championship overtime tied at 12 and Cornell won 16-13 after giving up the first OT goal. billhoward Pannell Named Ivy Player Of the Week For The Fourth Time This Season ITHACA, N.Y. – It will come as no surprise to anyone who watched the Cornell men's lacrosse team's 17-11 victory over Princeton at the Big City Classic that Big Red senior Rob Pannell has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week, earning the honor for the fourth time this season. Re: Rutgers Coach Abuse - 11 years ago
This got lost in everything going on in Boston today (good day for a news dump), but Rutgers suspended the men's lacrosse coach pending an investigation for verbal abuse today. As a graduate student at Rutgers, so I'm somewhat familiar with the atmosphere on campus and how they treat the athletic department, I would say (admittedly without any evidence) that I'd be shocked if this wasn't going oby Ronald '09 - Other Sports

redice Rita Ambivalent about the NHL returning. I'll tune into games already included in my cable package, but I won't pay for NHL center ice, nor pay to see a game this season (I usually try to catch 1-2 panther games/year). I've already put DirecTV on notice that they better be "fair" about their Center Ice pricing. I'm already disgusted with the NHL hockey establishment/playersby Ronald '09 - Hockey

Trotsky Jeff Hopkins '82Anybody have USA versus Sweden in the finals? Anyone? Bueller? The Swedes are the defending champions and the US isn't terrible, so I don't think it's a huge shocker. The US has never met Sweden in a gold medal game. Actually the US has only gotten to the gold medal game three times before (all against Canada, losing in 1997 and winning in 2004 and 2010). I don't have any details because I didn't wake up for the game at 4 AM, but team USA stunningly beat Canada 5-1. No points for Cole. Gold medal game against Russia or Sweden Saturday at a much more manageable 8 AM.by Ronald '09 - Hockey
Re: Bardreau to U.S. National Junior Team - 11 years ago
Russia up 1-0 on an early powerplay goal. Cole was on the ice for the penalty so he couldn't be out there for the first wave of kill when Russia scored. He did some nice work killing a couple later penalties. Team USA having all kinds of trouble staying out of the box. Cole's line forced another penalty as Hartman just got tripped. Team USA powerplay at 12:28 in second period, still 1-0 Ruby Ronald '09 - Hockey
