Re: Opponents and Others 2023-24 - Yesterday
BearLover abmarks chimpfood CHN has syer as a finalist for the Princeton head coaching job. Leave a link next time? For those of you looking, its at Also, it doesn't exactly say he's a finalist. It says " Among those who have interviewed, or were expected to, are Cornell assistant Ben Syer, Michigan assistant Rob Rassey, and Arizona State assistant Dana Borges" Re: bearloby scoop85 - Hockey

Al DeFlorio CU77 Buczek likely remembers when DeLuca kept him on the bench his entire freshman year. I remember that, too. Still a mystery considering Buczek quickly showed his talent once he got on the field.by scoop85 - Other Sports

The NHL’s Central Scouting Service’s final ranking was released yesterday. Gio Diguilian came in as the 124th ranked North American skater, up from 153 in the mid-term ranking. Unless I missed anyone he looks like the only Cornell recruit or player in the rankings.by scoop85 - Hockey

arugula BearLover Laughing at teams like BC/BU/NoDak/Quinnipiac losing just doesn’t hit the same when they’ve won national championships recently. (BU fans might try to claim 15 years is a long time, but to a Cornell fan it’s definitely not.) At the same time, each brutal loss by Cornell feels extra crushing because it’s been so long since we’ve won at hockey or lacrosse (“our sports,” as scoop85by scoop85 - Hockey

Trotsky RichHWe swept UND at the Ralph in Jan 2022. Both games were comebacks. Those 2 games were where I 1st thought we might have something in this Shane kid.by scoop85 - Hockey

chimpfood scoop85 chimpfood scoop85 chimpfood I’m honestly not worried at all. I’d expect us to win by at least 5 and never really struggle. So with Brown up 5-2, how are your feeling now?I may be an imbecile. Well, you apparently didn’t know Brown took Maryland to OT, or that their goalie can steal games.I knew that, just didn’t think they’re a very good team. Re: MBB: Jon Jaques - 15 days ago
semsox Also really like this. I feel Jaques' own, somewhat unique, career progression/path (being a reserve for 3 years getting limited minutes followed by being an integral starter on the Sweet 16 team) will be fruitful in being able to recruit/develop/connect with players. Also hopefully means he's here for a long haul. He and his wife are both Cornell grads, so if anyone has the chance to beby scoop85 - Other Sports

chimpfood I’m honestly not worried at all. I’d expect us to win by at least 5 and never really struggle. While that may happen, Brown historically gives us fits so I wouldn't count on as comfortable a win as you predict.by scoop85 - Other Sports

abmarks Couple of related items from the athletic. From an article listing the top potential free agents. Broken down into categories by potential impact in NHL. In the category of "Long shot to play games" 27. Dalton Bancroft, RW, Cornell-ECAC Bancroft is a strong-skating winger with a decent-sized frame. Re: Men's Lax Syracuse at Cornell 4/2/2024 - 16 days ago
Al DeFlorio chimpfood I like sudden death OT. Walk off goals are just electric. But a ridiculous way to decide a game when a goal is scored every two minutes. They did it right in 1976. Would you want sudden death in basketball? I’m fully on board with a full 4 or 5 minute OT period, followed by sudden death if we must.by scoop85 - Other Sports

scoop85 One of the Colgate players in the portal is Ryan MGuire, Pierre’s son. Ryan had a productive sophomore year and I’m surprised he’s looking for greener pastures. I imagine he’ll have plenty of suitors. McGuire's going to Northeastern.by scoop85 - Hockey

CU2007 Yea sorry but he loses a lot of credibility saying Psenicka is a flight risk, barring something unknown (grades, off-ice issue, etc etc). I think he picked two big wingers in the lineup with decent numbers and just threw it on a page for clicks. Seems about rightby scoop85 - Hockey

Swampy Scersk '97 scoop85 With no more games to focus on here’s a late season update for our listed recruits. We have plenty of talent in the pipeline: I have never seen us line up the talent at center that we seem to have and are bringing in. I have to assume some of those guys are going to be converted to wing, but my god. IIRC, Dan Lodboa was a forward when he came to Cornell, but Nedby scoop85 - Hockey

I’m rather indifferent to the guys who leave before graduating, but have no trouble supporting the players who do well as grad transfers (well, maybe Zach Tupker would be an exception). I was thrilled for Malone, especially because he knocked out QU. It would have exacerbated my frustration over the Denver loss if QU had somehow gotten to another FF and knocked off the #1 team to do it. And to thby scoop85 - Hockey

CAS Chase Pirtle is the 2nd highest scoring ‘05 in the BCHL And the ‘05 he’s right behind plays for Surrey, which is 44-8, so the other guy likely has a stronger supporting cast.by scoop85 - Hockey
Re: NCAA Tournament 2024 - 20 days ago
RichH Iceberg Malone sends BC to the Frozen Four. Wow The greatest transfer if this is the result. Fuck Rand and his ECHL program masquerading as an educational institution. Bye bye. Yeah, no tears from me. Somehow their guy Fillion missed a wide open net that would’ve made it 5-3 and pretty much sealed the game. Seems like something that would happen to us in the quarterfinals.by scoop85 - Hockey
Re: NCAA Tournament 2024 - 20 days ago
QU was probably the better team today, but I would’ve had a hard time stomaching them getting back to the FF. And what better way than for a Cornellian to end their season.by scoop85 - Hockey
Re: Opponents and Others 2023-24 - 20 days ago
Despite BC’s superstars, I’d give the edge to QU in the OT based on the way they played the 3rd period and their edge in experience. We’ll know soon enough.by scoop85 - Hockey

scoop85 After weathering BC’s pressure at the end of the 1st period, QU scores twice in 35 seconds to go up 2-0 just 2 minutes into the 2nd period. Please don’t tell me they’re going to win it again? BC scores right away after a phantom penalty call on QU to make it 2-1. Boy did they ever need that.by scoop85 - Hockey
