Re: Just out......#25 in basketball - 14 years ago
KeithK ugarte Willy '06 Looks like we lost 7 votes in the ESPN poll, but kept our 2 votes in the AP poll. I think the chances that we are out for good are pretty strong now (I guess they already were) considering a 2 win weekend has us losing votes. As predicted. <takes bow> We may get some votes back if we win out - including a decisive home court win over Princeton - but we aren't going tby CM cWo 44 - Other Sports

Re: Cornell hammers Harvard - 14 years ago
HeafDog Jim HylaOK, that was a great game, but why do both the hockey and BB teams have to play at Harvard the same night? I tried emailing everyone on the Harvard Athletic Department staff, asking them if they could possibly stagger the two games, but, perhaps unsurprisingly, got nary a peep in response. Decisions, decisions. I don't even have any idea where the hoops court is. Is it anywhereby CM cWo 44 - Other Sports

Some hockey writer noticed the same thing. This phenomena is mentioned in the following ECAC notebook from INCH, under "Rankings Outrage"by CM cWo 44 - Hockey

Jeff Hopkins '82 Luke 05 The auto-bid in Bracketology goes to Harvard because they are in first place with a win over Dartmouth on Saturday. Not to mention their RPI may have been better when the article was written. This is the actual reason, cited by Lunardi in his explanation column. No league games had been played when the current version of Bracketology was posted.... but yes, they geby CM cWo 44 - Other Sports

underskillhow far is the stadium from the LIRR stop? I'm assuming you get off in Hempstead? It is a bit of a trek down Hempstead Tpke from the LIRR station. There are MTA busses that run from the station to the campus/stadium pretty regularly. They accept MetroCards.by CM cWo 44 - Other Sports

Jordan 04Not sure if everyone saw the news, but our neighbors to the south, (and safety school for Cornell applicants aplenty), the Binghamton Bobcats, are headed to the NCAA tournament for the first time. Did you really think the Binghamton Bearcats were called the Bobcats, or was that an extremely obscure Boeheim reference?by CM cWo 44 - Other Sports
Re: Any video for Yale game? - 15 years ago
They had free All-Access for the basketball game last Friday. The feed worked about 40% of the time, and the camera work was juvenile at best. At one point someone knocked into the camera and it swung around to the crowd. Online viewers were watching at a few sporatically populated rows of seats for 5 minutes trying to figure out what was happening on the court off screen from solely fan reactionby CM cWo 44 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - February 2009 - 15 years ago
It wasn't the first time Byron Bitz had a big crowd chanting his name. It had been a while, though. The rookie fourth-liner scored his second and third NHL goals Tuesday night, leading the struggling Bruins to a 6-1 win over the Florida Panthers in the opener of Boston's six-game homestand. Bitz's performance had the fans buzzing, just like he used to in his days at Cornell. "Coupleby CM cWo 44 - Hockey

Re: Important message to ice hockey ticket holders - 15 years ago
It seems that we are the only team that is preoccupied with cursing by fans during games. Maybe this is because of how many times I've encountered the embarassing lack of creativity that is the "Fuck Cornell" chant at Colgate.by CM cWo 44 - Hockey

Re: Kevin Boothe - 15 years ago
TimVMcKenzie temporarily left the game to have a wrist injury evaluated. As I type this, Giants have the ball after a Raven FG, and McKenzie is back in. Manning sacked. Put Boothe back in! Boothe was atrocious Sunday night. (There I said it). Since he's already a backup in the league, that does not bode well when you fill in and show you can't hold the fort. Re: Cornell bball at Minnesota Today - 15 years ago
Watching on 360, they are definitely up 40-28. Dominating in every facet. Louis Dale started the game (his first of the year coming back from a hamstring injury). Wittman with 4 threes at the half including a 30 footer in transition.by CM cWo 44 - Other Sports

ftyuvJim HylaftyuvDpperk29Jim HylaBeeeejDpperk29 I only have two concerns about this weekend. 1.) Clarkson plays well 2.) I make it out of Lynah without getting physically assaulted I'm told that buying beer for several people wearing Cornell jerseys before the game in a public drinking or dining establishment has been known to prevent post-game beatings. Re: Cornell 2 UND 1 Postgame - 15 years ago
Somewhat happy with the overall result of the trip, but can't help but think we may have been still undefeated had Scrivens decided to show up last night. Our first line looks like it should dominate throughout the ECAC season.by CM cWo 44 - Hockey

OmieDeja vu? Cornell loosing 6-3 against struggling team on a nationally televised game. A little different feel to this game, though same result. Pretty even throughout until these lapses in the third. BU was out of reach from the beginning.by CM cWo 44 - Hockey
