Re: Lake Placid-2024 - Yesterday
Jeff Hopkins '82 Al DeFlorio Nice TV station recap of the championship: The announcer called him Ca-stang-a. They don't have Italians in Burlington? They certainly do lol. I grew up in the Burlington area. In my high school we had some actual italians from italy; the father worked for rossignol and had moved over here on temporary assignment while i ws in HS. Jeff Hopkins '82 upprdeck We didn't need to win the conf title to get in with PWR if we don't blow any one of about 6 other games, ^^This^^ nope. it's the other way around. let's get cause and effect in proper order. Which is to say that bearlover's good takes arrive highly correlated with full eclipses. I actually agree with him. -cause: We punted 6 games. -Effect: therefore had toby abmarks - Hockey
Re: Opponents and Others 2023-24 - 2 days ago
for all this talk of smaller rinks wanting regionals more, if memory serves, there's been decent to excellent ticket historically for regionals in Manchester, Providence and Worcester, all of which are well north of the 5k seat mark. Granted attendance would vary depending upon how many of the local schools are playing there, but those have to be better venue choices than 3k-5k seat rinks, andby abmarks - Hockey

Trotsky jtwcornell91Now that they're doing the regionals on Thursday-Saturday and Friday-Sunday, couldn't one site bid to host both regionals? This is actually brilliant. Only downsides I can imagine would be finding enough practice facilities for 8 teams plus enough hotel blocksby abmarks - Hockey
Re: Opponents and Others 2023-24 - 2 days ago
Swampy Iceberg I find it crazy that the committee or whoever is responsible couldn't find another site in the midwestern US. There has to be a ton of better arenas willing to do this event at a tolerable cost. I think it has to do with who the host(s) is (are). In this case, the Midwest Regional is hosted by Lindenwood University and the St. Louis Sports Commission. What's even more surprisiby abmarks - Hockey

Swampy upprdeck it would be nice if Athletics actually said thats its a pay link on the schedule page. if you just take a quick look you woudnt know and some may jump in sat expecting to watch and not pay the $9. BearLover ugarte BL annoys me less than a lot of people on here even when i disagree with him. He's got strong opinions and way too much of the Need To Argue Pedantically about the same issues like he's got a calendar tickler, but the structure of eLF has too many windows for people to be throwing stones around. Trotsky scoop85 dbilmes If we think our freshmen are good, BC has an all-freshman line which has combined for 38 goals this season. If we had 3 1st rounders on a line they’d have the same type of productionAnd they'd leave after 2 years. If you can reload with 3.more every two years, who cares?by abmarks - Hockey
Re: Cornell 3 Quinnipiac 2 (ot) - 2 months ago
VIEWfromK ... The Big Red finally wore them down around the midway point of the third. Penney and Devlin both had some crushing hits. There hadn’t been much physicality early on so it was nice to get that part of their game going in time to turn the tide. That opened up the ice for them to find their offensive game. Just read some Schafer quotes in chn roundup "We started gettingby abmarks - Hockey

Trotsky scoop85 BearLover Trotsky BearLover Trotsky arugulaGrady wouldn’t have mentioned it. That would require paying attention. Jason perhaps. Not Grady. Grady is an excellent announcer. Your comment was bad and you should feel bad. Unfortunately, Grady spends too many words on random tangents and not enough on the game itself. He needs to track the action better. I love him. Re: ECAC 2024 Discussion Thread - 2 months ago
chimpfood BearLover chimpfood BearLover If the PWR is doing its job, i.e. accurately ranking teams, then how good or bad the ECAC is should not affect Cornell’s odds of an at-large bid. This is because, if the ECAC is bad, Cornell should have a better record in-conference (and vice versa). Obviously, holding constant Cornell’s odds of beating (for example) Union, we’d rather Union perform well ouby abmarks - Hockey

Trotsky abmarks HeafDog ... I've realized that I value uniqueness quite highly and am not too keen on the fact that most American fanbases more or less sound the same: there's the doorbell chant, there's trisyllabic chants, and, with some exceptions, not a great deal else. Trotsky Iceberg chimpfood Wow these quinnipiac announcers piss me off The one guy whom they have in the booth (the student player) this period is at least knowledgeable about goaltending but the PBP guy is somethingThat kid was shockingly good. upprdeck I thought the major was more the big kid getting into a small kid, if he was 6-2 I don't think anything happens but he can't be reckless. Agree, tho I don't think it was a penalty at all after watching the replay a bunch of times. The elbow did connect with the head, but in no way did 26 try to hit the kid. He was skating back towards the blue line on the right side of the Offensby abmarks - Hockey
Re: Cornell v Yale, 11/3/23 - 4 months ago
RichH Are the Yalie announcers on ESPN+ having a competition to see how many inaccuracies the can sneak in? Between pronouncing Seger “See-Jer” and how Cornell’s head coach was a goaltender, it been hammering on my inner fact-checker. The one that got me was when "Costanza".for in alone and hit the pipe. Re: Opponents and Others 2023-24 - new Union rink? - 5 months ago
billhoward marty Dreams of a return to D3 sunk in the harbor like the Flying Dutchmen. Be about 3/4 mile away from Union's current Messa Rink.
