Re: NCAA regionals in Springfield - 5 weeks ago
arugula 4 out of 9 have us winning the region. That’s remarkable. Interesting to me that Adam has Cornell losing to Maine in the first game. My recollection is when many here were expecting a difficult rebuilding year Adam was one of the more optimistic posters. Maybe he’s trying a reverse jinxby JasonN95 - Hockey

adamw Can you all let him decide, and not try to decide for him or read tea leaves that don't exist? Lest there be any doubt, I hope he stays for a long, long time. The ECAC put together a nice, albeit short video of the championship. I'd love to see more of the ice level, high def footage of the game, and the on- and off-ice celebration:by JasonN95 - Hockey

BearLover JasonN95 chimpfood Schafer quoted in the CHN article as saying “Im on the back 9 here.” Although it really isn’t a shock, it is sad to hear him say with the guy having been coach as long as I can remember. jtwcornell91 I miss UVM, who would probably be 4.5 on that list. I sometimes wonder how things would have been for UVM if it stayed. It doesn’t seem like the jump to Hockey East worked out for the program.by JasonN95 - Hockey

Jeff Hopkins '82 One thing I heard was that they dropped Huggy Bear because people thought it was "too aggressive." Not sure Snarky Bear will be revived if people don't like aggressive logos. I’ve always called him “Skeptical Bear”. I try to encourage my daughter, soon to be a Cornell grad herself, to always have at least one garment with him on it.by JasonN95 - Other Sports
Re: ECAC 2024 Discussion Thread - 2 months ago
Since first of the year, Cornell is (if I’m counting correctly) averaging 4.2 goals a game (42 goals in 10 games) and giving up 1.4 goals/game (14 in 10) for a +2.8 goal differential. I would bet that’s Cornell’s best goal differential over 10 games in a long, long time.by JasonN95 - Hockey

Aren’t students returning this weekend? If yes, I’d wait for the next home weekend to evaluate the student section.by JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: CU-BU 2023 - 5 months ago
I thought it was a great crowd. Does Cornell bring recruits to MSG? Would like to think it helps up Cornell’s appeal. Some random observations from the game: Shortly after Walsh’s tying goal Cornell had to play defense with one stickless player and a one legged skater because the former’s stick got harpooned through the skate blade hole of the latter. I’ve watched a lot of hockey and don’t remby JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: Cornell v Yale, 11/3/23 - 5 months ago
upprdeck I thought the major was more the big kid getting into a small kid, if he was 6-2 I don't think anything happens but he can't be reckless. I didn’t go back to watch again but when it happened I thought it was Psenicka skating hard in a line, the Yale player coming in from the side trying to lunge with his stick and leaned down and forward, and the sweep of Psenicka’s arm as he was stridby JasonN95 - Hockey

BMac Why can some booster pay but their future employee no? NHL rules? Why would a NHL team want to pay a drafted player? They already have the kid locked up, no?by JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: "When The Red Come Skating In" - 1 year ago
The Rancor "ref beats his wife" is one long gone, and good riddance. Sadly, 3 blind mice is gone, with the addition of the fourth official. Long Diiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeee always bothered me, but I've lived with it. Combining that cheer with the other distasteful “the ref f*cks sheep” into “the ref beats his sheep” did amuse me.by JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: Wrestling 2022-23 - 1 year ago
CU77 Many thanks for all your great reporting over the season, ugarte! Seconded. Ugarte, thanks for all you post and write. I follow Cornell wrestling largely by what you and others put on this forum.by JasonN95 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2023 - 1 year ago
semsox I think this game is answering the question of 'How important is Michael Long to our offense?' pretty well I saw this, didn’t know Long was back and thought “Uh oh.” To spare others the heartburn: Long was back, 3G 1A, and Cornell won 20-10.by JasonN95 - Other Sports

Re: Cornell at Yale (2/25/23) - 1 year ago
upprdeck the play was so close, but maybe the ref did rule it that way. onlu thing that makes sense. Doesn’t the faceoff for offsides go to where the puck was last touched by the offense before committing the offsides? Usually that’s at the blue line but here that was in Cornell’s end so the faceoff was set there.by JasonN95 - Hockey

Re: Opponents and Others, 2022-23 - 1 year ago
dbilmes Watching the Beanpot, they just showed a graphic of the coaches of the 4 teams. Donato is coaching in his 18th Beanpot. He's won the title once! Was there a goal waved off early in the 1st? I don’t get NESN but have the NCAA live play-by-play up and there’s an entry for a goal, but the score stayed 0-0 (until just now as Harvard has apparently scored at the 8:35 mark).by JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: Union @ Cornell - 1 year ago
I rewatched the first period -that was fun- and picking up on something Grady said I rewound and watched goals two through six. I believe those five goals were scored on five shots. There’s several shot attempts between goals two and three but I don’t think any would be official shots as they were wide or never made it to the net.by JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: Polls - 1 year ago
billhoward JasonN95 Cornell up to 11th in 1/23/23 USCHO poll. Has me wondering where the team would be ranked if it had gotten a tie at BU seeing BU with some first place votes. I thought Q would drop a bit further than 3rd. Might Q only have fallen to #2 if they hadn't blown a 2-0 lead at Colgate and lost 3-2 the day after losing to us? I was pulling for Q to beat Colgate. Re: Q Game Thread - 2 years ago
After Princeton I was wondering if Shane would get the start against Q. He did and he was obviously fantastic. I don’t remember, what were the expectations for him when it was announced he’d join Cornell? I’m guessing it’s his crease the rest of the way so long as he doesn’t fall into a funk.by JasonN95 - Hockey

Re: Second ND Game Thread - 2 years ago
RichH I watched that penalty shot 6 times, and I still don’t know what the shooter was trying. If he wanted to draw Shane to the far post, and poke it back stick side, it just wasn’t a good move. Great job by Shane to stay square and not cheat to cover the post. Caught it with the stick and the pad. Good unpanicked approach. I think it’s what you thought or close to it. To me it looked he was tby JasonN95 - Hockey

Re: St. Lawrence postgame - 2 years ago
ugarte From the run of play I figured once Cornell broke through the floodgates would open. I like watching this team. That’s how I was feeling as the game got late into the second period, that a Cornell goal was coming and St. L would be done. I, too, like watching this team, more than I had hoped for going into the season. I thought the control on the PP was good and I like the slot one tby JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: Red Hot game thread and watch - 2 years ago
A good, heavily pro-Cornell crowd at MSG. Was worried about attendance at the start but arena filled in pretty well. There was a large group behind mine that knew each other and I think said were class of 2013 or thereabouts doing a lot of the classic cheers. Fun to hear and join in.by JasonN95 - Hockey
