abmarksANd, to heafdog...as several pointed out way back when you first introduced that ditty, it's not even unique to the league. SLU? SLU chants "SLU". But we should continue to chant "Let's Go Red", right? Let's not let the perfect be the enemy of the good. While not ideal, this nonetheless has energized people, injected some much-needed variety, and is a step in theby HeafDog - Hockey

abmarks HeafDog ... I've realized that I value uniqueness quite highly and am not too keen on the fact that most American fanbases more or less sound the same: there's the doorbell chant, there's trisyllabic chants, and, with some exceptions, not a great deal else. Hence, as my first effort (of possibly more songs; the reaction to this one so far has been very positive), Yet you decided on tby HeafDog - Hockey

chimpfoodAre you the song guy?! May I ask what led you to start the chant? I'll try to spare you a soliloquy. In a nutshell, after loving our antics for four years of undergrad, I had the good fortune of observing a couple of games of a different sport and much different fanbase, and wanted to bring a terrific aspect of it -- the delight of singing in unison and feeling like you're part of someby HeafDog - Hockey

Trotsky As #21, they play #9 and #16 at least twice. This is that little springboard in front of the pommel horse. Cue the gif of the male gymnast from the eighties who tried to vault with a full speed face collision. (Will that be us?)by HeafDog - Hockey

arugula Ondrej is a hoot. My daughter, a current junior, knows him slightly and has some funny stories about him. Good guy. He took the time to take pictures with my son (because I had informed him that he is my son's favorite player) and gave him a puck. (Incidentally, I started to cry. TMI?)by HeafDog - Hockey
Re: University of Minnesota Duluth @ Cornell , 10/28/23 - 6 months ago
FYI, Psenicka left the ice in the third period (I think), in visible pain, and then collapsed in the passageway to the locker room. He was down for a few minutes and being attended to by staff, and then he retook the ice and surprisingly played the rest of the game. Apparently, he was no longer in enough pain that he had to leave the game (or, even worse, have his season or career impacted), butby HeafDog - Hockey
Northville-Placid Trail (backpacking/camping recommendation) - 1 year ago
Not entirely off topic, since our hearts are in Upstate NY anyway, and some of us make pilgrimages to Lake Placid, so thought I'd just put a plug out there for a long distance backpacking trail that is usually a bit under the radar: the Northville- Placid Trail, which runs 138 miles through the Adirondacks from the village of Northville to Lake Placid. A couple of good buddies of mine and I haveby HeafDog - John Spencer Is Dead

Going. Need 1 ticket for today, if anyone is selling an extra in or near the CU section. (Which is where, BTW?) Also can offer a ride from northern NJ or pick up along the way.by HeafDog - Hockey

French Rage Is this done in a call-and-response manner like it would be done at a soccer game? It _can_ be, but I figured we'd just let it develop on its own. Meaning, if that's the way we end up doing it, (shrug) I guess that's fine. I think what's more important is to sing it in unison, as a full voiced crowd, SLOWLY, at least one time through. After that it would be okay for the inevitable Aby HeafDog - Hockey

Re: "When The Red Come Skating In" - 1 year ago
jtwcornell91 I suspect this has something to do with the reduction in road trips, but this would feel wrong to anyone who'd been to a game at St. Lawrence/with an SLU band present. Yeah, that definitely crossed my mind. But then I reasoned that with such hits as "Kill, Red, Kill", the bar is pretty low. Doesn't have to be perfect.by HeafDog - Hockey
Re: "When The Red Come Skating In" - 1 year ago
BMac If you’re an undergrad, feel free to ignore what all us old timers say. Make your own traditions! Revive old ones! It doesn’t matter, so long as you’re there, loud, and ideally clever. Agreed, and very well put! Dunc, with respect to the thread topic in particular, it's in your hands. I'll try to make it to a home weekend next season but who knows.by HeafDog - Hockey

Re: "When The Red Come Skating In" - 1 year ago
CU2007 Love the undergrad enthusiasm, but please spend most of your energy saving the traditions COVID ruined, rather than inventing new things. "Undergrad enthusiasm"? Sorry, I don't follow you. I celebrate my 25th reunion this summer. I can assure you I know all about our traditions. And I agree with you that they should be kept alive. On the other hand, they are a living, breathby HeafDog - Hockey

jfeath17 FYI from Cornell ticket site: “Cornell fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in Section 3 - which can be accessed by visiting the Lake Placid Olympic Center ticketing site, clicking the lock icon on the top of the screen and entering the access code ‘CORNELL23’” You also save $10 using the code. That code's not working for me. (shrug) Oh, well.by HeafDog - Hockey

Re: UConn @ Cornell (MSG), 11/26/2022 - 1 year ago
dbilmes 2) I was disappointed no hats were thrown onto the ice when Bancfroft registered his hat trick. I wanted to throw mine, but since I was 18 rows from the ice I would have had trouble throwing it that distance and getting it over the glass. Same. I was way up in the 200 level and the only way my hat could have made it to the ice was if it had a brick in it. Would throwing a hat at MSby HeafDog - Hockey
Re: UConn @ Cornell (MSG), 11/26/2022 - 1 year ago
There's a lot of posts in this threaad about how well we played during that monumental, good old fashioned ass-kicking and name-taking last night... And sure, we played well, but something doesn't add up. How in the hell was UConn 10-2-2? I just don't get it. They played decent teams, many from Hockey East. Heck, even if they were 7-2-2 from just playing AHA teams that would still be reasonably rby HeafDog - Hockey
