French Rage RichH Now is where I admit I had no idea where Bryant was until today. Firmly in the side of that mountain after the helicopter crash. Too soon? Not too soon in that there'd be no good time for that one--definitely in poor taste.by djk26 - Other Sports

The Daily Princetonian offered predictions on this game (which I did not see until well after the game ended.) Two out of the three staff members in the article picked Cornell to win, but the one that didn't wrote this: Daily Princetonian The Big Red will struggle to contain Mackesy Adler is such a great player.by djk26 - Other Sports

jjanow99 mike1960 djk26 Ben Abladian--anyone know what happened to him? He was a much heralded transfer and he's barely played this season. I feel bad about speculating about an amateur player's status, but it seems strange that he would transfer if he wasn't going to play. Abladian played in the Marquette game. It was either Barry Leonard or Tom Lafalce who said that he was still learning thby djk26 - Other Sports

arugula They were announcing from their basements. Didn’t realize ESPN was doing it this way. They seemed disengaged and quint was absolutely refusing to take the bait and give Cornell due credit despite his partners prompting. Par for the course I guess. I guess he was a little more convinced by watching Cornell live...er...on TV yesterday. In this week's rankings, Quint has us #5 behind theby djk26 - Other Sports

The Rancor Do we know if this game is on Espnews or just on Espn+? Cornell's game is on ESPNews...I thought I got that channel but alas no. I didn't watch the first game either but 5-1 is an impressive score. Still, I've wanted another shot at BU since the game against them earlier this year. Denver looks extremely good, too...if Cornell somehow wins both games I think it'll be the most imby djk26 - Hockey
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2023 - 6 months ago
This game against Yale was like a dream--winning half the faceoffs, winning the ground balls, AND Michael Long was playing. I was actually surprised to see the stats at the end of the game--50% on faceoffs and ahead only 34-32 on ground balls--seemed like Cornell was dominating both stats through three quarters. So happy to have Long back--the games don't get easier even if, on paper, the Iviesby djk26 - Other Sports
Re: 2023 ECAC Post Season - 6 months ago
djk26 Ugh--so this weekend is the double torture of losing to Harvard--and then having to root for them in the next game. I guess yesterday was the best of all possible results--four ECAC teams (apparently) in the NCAA tournament, and most importantly, Cornell is one of them. We can talk about how it would have been nice to have an easier path to the Frozen Four, but the fact is, we had some bby djk26 - Hockey

Re: Men's Basketball 22-23 - 6 months ago
Ken711 I fear Princeton making a continued run in the tournament could mean their coach Mitch Henderson gets offered a higher level opening, and Brian Earl, a Princeton grad leaves Cornell to take his place. That scenario sounds all too plausible, and I bet one win in this tournament is enough for Princeton's coach to get serious interest from other schools. If Earl goes to Princeton we'll havby djk26 - Other Sports

dag14 I watched the Cornell/UAlbany women's game later on Saturday and we were CORW. It took me a minute to figure it out, too. Reminds me of my all time favorite in the Daily Sun--the second page of each article abberviated the names of the teams, too. Men's basketball was "MHOOPS", which meant women's basketball was "WHOOPS." Not in the days of Jeomi Maduka, they wereby djk26 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2023 - 7 months ago
Strange thing on the LiveStats yesterday--"CORNELL" was abbreviated "CORM". A typo? No, "ALBANY" was listed as "UALBANYM". "M" must be for "men's team." Whew--I didn't want to have to change the name on my diploma to "CORMELL".by djk26 - Other Sports

I know I'm pretty late to be asking this question (haven't had a reason to pay much attention to the team in the last few years) but when/why did Ivy League teams stop playing league games every Friday and Saturday? The only "traditional" weekends I see on Cornell's schedule this season are vs Penn/Princeton, at Princeton/Penn and vs Dartmouth/Harvard. Pandemic holdover?by djk26 - Other Sports

Congratulations to both teams. What an amazing effort by Cornell. That showed a lot of guts and the graduating seniors, who contributed so much to this program, should absolutely walk away with their heads held high. While it's tough to come up just short, this feels better than the last time Cornell was in the championship game. Inside Lacrosse article on the Cornell/Delaware game Inside Lacrosse "First thing I'll say… It's great to be here,” Delaware coach and Cornell alum Ben DeLuca said to open his team’s postgame press conference, an homage to legendary Cornell head coach Richie Moran, who coached DeLuca as a freshman and died on April 24.
