stereax Trotsky stereaxContinuing the tradition of players I will care about too much for a very weak link to the Devils who will inevitably sign in Europe LOL. Well said. Re: Amateur athletic's last veil falls - 24 days ago
Someone needs to do a Ted Talk on what is happening in college sports. For me at least, it is close to impossible to fully understand or follow without dedicating a non-reasonable amount of time and energy.by CU2007 - Hockey
Re: Recruits 2025 and Beyond - 30 days ago
Announcement today on the Athletics website lists Cournoyer as coming in the fall. Great news from my perspective as I welcome the competition in the crease.by CU2007 - Hockey

arugula Considering all of those deadlines are long long past, how can he matriculate in August? He could have been proactive and taken the SAT knowing he might end up at an American college. As for an emergency back door into Cornell, no idea how that might work.by CU2007 - Hockey

Jim Hyla CU2007 Jim Hyla I'd love to see (hear) someone do a Post report. It seemed like half of Richmond's goals were hitting the post and in. The goalie is not supposed to save those. A silly mm off and those bounce out. . This isn’t really true. A guy can shoot from 30 yards out and even if it goes in off the post, it should have been be stopped. Yea knust wasn’t good at all today. It happens. Whatever about a couple nice shots. Doesn’t mean he’s a bad goalie or a bad person (before anyone gets mad at me) but he will definitely need to be better next weekend.by CU2007 - Other Sports

chimpfood Make a fucking save Wyatt. This is starting to feel like one of those out of character games that can end your season Seriously. Some nice shots, sure, but multiple goals from terrible anglesby CU2007 - Other Sports

Re: 2025-26 Incoming Freshman and Transfers - 7 weeks ago
chimpfood Got a little bored so I figured I would throw a guess out there for our lineup next year. Goalies: 1: Keopple 2: Katz 3: Roest I think Keopple is clearly expected to be the starter. There could be a battle for the backup spot but I wouldn’t give the edge to Katz. He’s bigger, older and put up better numbers in the juniors. Re: Cornell v Princeton 5/4, ILT mens lax FINAL - 2 months ago
Safe to assume we’ll be playing a “play-in” winner. Does that mean our game will likely be Sunday? Also is that first round game played in Ithaca similar to how women’s hockey was set up?by CU2007 - Other Sports

Re: Sabermetrics - 2 months ago
upprdeck not sure how anyway says WAR is easily understandable. I mean guessing things like would an avg player gone first to 3rd on a play isnt really clear logic I should have clarified. Understandable as in “wins above a replacement level player” boiled down to one simple number is understandable. All of the inputs and how they are calculated, certainly not.by CU2007 - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: Sabermetrics - 2 months ago
Luckily they have WAR which takes everything a player does on the field and puts it into one simple, easily understandable number. I stop paying attention when it gets to the level of fip, xERA etcby CU2007 - John Spencer Is Dead

Trotsky Never change, Colgate. (I had no idea about CC. Fuck them.) A more detailed (and prettier) treatment. A far, far more detailed (less pretty) analysis of Cornell. (tldr: we suck, but not compared to the other Ivies.) The scatter plot and trending charts are most interesting. I would have expected us (and the Ivies in general) to have become less scumbag-ridden in the last 40by CU2007 - Hockey

Chris '03 George64 Swampy upprdeck You want athletics to put effort into this? Absolutely. Agreed! Prospective recruits and free agents will be watching. It would also be nice to have more people in the Crescent. I’d also like to see new and improved Cornell infomercials at the half and during timeouts. Iceberg adamw BL will never admit he's wrong - so again, just for everyone else ... Mankato Assistant Coach reveals their two top recruits were paid $80-90k by a B1G school to decommit from MNSU Happening all over. Also, Denver coach (who I know well) is definitely fudging a bit. Re: Cornell vs Syracuse Men's Lacrosse, Saturday, April 12, 4 PM, Uniondale - 2 months ago
jjanow99 What happened on the dual unsportsmanlike calls at the end of the game? Kirst and a Syracuse player. Someone on Cornell apparently threw it in the empty net when the game was basically over. Cuse fans and players not happy saying it was the equivalent of dunking at the end of a basketball game that was over with the clock running down. Led to some trash talkingby CU2007 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell vs Syracuse Men's Lacrosse, Saturday, April 12, 4 PM, Uniondale - 2 months ago
Presumably Cornell feels they might get a recruiting bump playing a game in the middle of a lacrosse hot bed like Long Island, and it’s good for the NYC alumni base. Agreed it’s too much money for a regular season lacrosse game.by CU2007 - Other Sports

chimpfood How on earth do you register on fanlax? Re: 2024-25 Players Graduating - 3 months ago
Multiple things can be true. Our alumni having success in the pros is good for the program. That’s why they have all those pictures of alumni in NHL and Olympic jerseys in the hallway. All schools do this and it does impact recruiting. That being said, Bancroft leaving makes next year’s team worse. Undoubtedly true. LGR14 BearLover mike1960 BearLover CU77 It seems Mr. Manna has some serious chops as a sports announcer: Cornell notches another win. RPI drops from #8 to #9. RPI dropping is crazy. That doesn’t happen for hockey, I guess because “bad wins” are excluded as part of the formula. Anyway, back to my earlier point, I have to imagine the selection committee is going to be very hard-pressed to nby CU2007 - Other Sports
Re: NCAAs quarterfinal Cornell vs. BU - 3 months ago
To me, the most crushing loss was the Bemidji State game because we played terrible and that was a team we really should have beaten. Any OT season ending loss is crushing, especially given the situation with Schafer (and it being for a long overdue Frozen Four birth), but I find solace in the fact that we left it all out there. That’s really all you can ask for on any given day.by CU2007 - Hockey
