CU77 My NCAA bracket prediction: 1. Duke v Delaware/Marist 2. Virginia v Richmond 3. Notre Dame v Bryant 4. Maryland v Utah 5. Penn State v Army 6. Hopkins v Princeton 7. Georgetown v Yale 8. Cornell v Michigan Pretty close! Got the top 8 exactly right, shuffled the opponents of the 3 to 6 seeds: 1. Duke v Delaware/Marist Sun 5 2. Virginia v Richmond Sat 12 3. Notre Dame v Utah Sby CU77 - Other Sports

Re: Cornell lacrosse 2023 - 7 months ago
Three games left. I assume Duke > Merrimack. Then the top-11 RPI are fixed, with only the order of 7-8-9 still to be decided by the other 2 games. Amazingly, only one of these 11 definitely gets an AQ! 1. Duke 2. Notre Dame 3. Virginia 4. Johns Hopkins 5. Georgetown AQ 6. Maryland … 10. Denver 11. Penn Princeton > Yale: 7. Penn State 8. Cornell 9. Yale Yaleby CU77 - Other Sports

Terps dismantled Hop in the 2nd B1G semi, winning 14-9, face Michigan in the final. I expect Maryland to easily avenge their regular-season loss. Top 4 seeds will go to the ACC and the Terps. Cornell has a shot at the #5 seed with an ILT win, especially if the final is over Penn. Looking too far ahead, Cornell will need to play as well as possible, and wish a dash of luck, to have a chanceby CU77 - Other Sports

CU2007 If we win the Ivy League championship, I assume we will get a home ncaa game? Almost certainly. CU2007What if we lose in the final? Or lose in the semi? My guess is no, the ILT winner gets it. Unless it's Princeton, then we might sneak in. ACC & B1G will claim 3 seeds each, BET and ILT winners likely the other 2.by CU77 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2023 - 7 months ago
mike1960I would love for Cornell to see Penn State in the Big Dance. Likely only if Cornell first beats Duke, UVa, or ND, who will be the top 3 seeds. Cornell is looking at a 6 to 8 seed. Unless Cornell loses to Yale, then they could be unseeded and sent to PSU in first round.by CU77 - Other Sports

BearLover Also bummer that Teat and Donville didn’t opt to extend their Cornell careers. AFAIK they had both exhausted their Ivy eligibility, which is different than their NCAA eligibility.by CU77 - Other Sports

mike1960 I thought Long was a junior. ... Any chance he can or will stick around for a year? Per poster VeryRustyRed at fanlax: the "front line" graduating players are Ierlan, Adler, Coyle, and Lombardi. I'm not sure about Petrakis. Long returns - his entry class graduates, but he took an LOA.by CU77 - Other Sports

Re: Cornell lacrosse Princeton 4/29/23 noon - 7 months ago
Well I think you are right to worry, but I also think that our coaches and players will do everything possible to be ready. Will that be enough? I hope we'll get to find out. But first is PU, then Y or Sucks, then PU/PeU again (assuming the best outcome in each case).by CU77 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2023 - 7 months ago
Trotsky How corrupt is the tourny selection now? It's not purely deterministic like hockey, right? Does the Baltimore Mafia still have room to do their thing? 1) Since the great criteria change of 2009 (the horrific seeding of 2007 forced the NCAA to fix it), it is not at all corrupt. It is, however, somewhat random. 2) It is not deterministic like hockey. 3) No.by CU77 - Other Sports

ILT possibilities: If Cornell beats Princeton, the top 3 seeds are Cornell, Penn, Princeton. If Princeton beats Cornell, the top 3 seeds are Princeton, Cornell, Penn. The Harvard-Yale winner gets the #4 seed.by CU77 - Other Sports

Re: Cornell lacrosse 2023 - 7 months ago
The NCAA selection committee revealed their top 10 on Saturday: 1. ND 2. Duke 3. UVA 4. UMD 5. PSU 6. JHU 7. Cornell 8. Army 9. Rutgers 10. Georgetown Big surprise here is Army, which was #19 RPI at the time. H2H over Rutgers in the only plausible explanation for this, but it's a real departure from the official criteria. My takeaway: this committee is whack!by CU77 - Other Sports

George64 Blake initially draws two defenders and passes to Kelleher. Blake is now open and signals for the ball, but Kelleher instead passes to Coyle, further drawing defenders away from Blake. Meanwhile, CJ, who doesn’t get a goal all afternoon, is busy drawing a double-team. Coyle passes to the wide-open Blake and the goalie reacts, so Blake dives and shoots it low and away from the goalie’sby CU77 - Other Sports
