Re: Where are our Alumni Playing Now - 6 years ago
I’ve got two more additions: Joe Deven is playing with the South Carolina Stingrays (ECHL) John McCarron is playing with the Florida Everblades (ECHL) Deven is actually the Stingrays captain. Let’s Go Red!by Trigger - Hockey

For those who don't know, Nick Arujau, a 3x NYS Champion formerly of American University is transferring to Cornell and will be eligible to compete for the Big Red as soon as next weekend's dual against Iowa State. He left American after last year and has been wrestling with FLWC and taking classes at TC3. As a top-notch 133-pounder, he'll fit into Cornell's lineup nicely. He has the talent to beby Trigger - Other Sports

In case anyone else has the hockey itch already... Incoming Cornell goaltender Andy Iles will be attending the US National Junior Team Evaluation Camp from July 30-August 8 in Lake Placid. Andy is a local product, and the Big Red's highly-touted netminder of the future. If you'd like to see him play, Fasthockey.com will be carrying games from August 3-7 at 4pm each day. Sucks Weekend - 16 years ago
I have been doing this for years...but I think we need to drop that school's name from our vocabularies and simply go with "Sucks". This is sucks weekend. The sucks game is on Saturday. You should understand by now. That school's name should be used only when explaining the idea of "sucks" to an "outsider". And by outsider, I simply mean a normal person who is not raby Trigger - Hockey
Re: Sustained "Let's Go Red" - 16 years ago
CowbellGuyFlyers1037For the past 10 years (at least), the faithful have been speeding up every cheer which makes it unsustainable. FYP I think I'm one of the people who is most angry about the whole "speeding up" thing. They can't do "shorthanded" or "frustrated" properly anymore because they do it too fast and don't use the proper, dare I say traditional, tonalityby Trigger - Hockey
Sustained "Let's Go Red" - 16 years ago
This is a long shot, but after weeks of somewhat unenthused cheering, I think we need a sustained "Let's Go Red" on Saturday night. Ideally, if we could get enough people on board, we could keep it going the whole game, breaking only for other cheers. It might get a little rough on the voice, but it could be worth it. Imagine the atmosphere that would create. We'd begin at puck drop, anby Trigger - Hockey
Re: Beanpot 2/11 - 16 years ago
It's a regular season tourney...so a 5 minute OT and then a shootout, had it stayed tied. And it would have counted "officially" as a tie, had BC not won in OT. Unless the Beanpot is different than other tourneys, which someone watching would know (did they put 20 on the clock?). Also, Harvard Sucks.by Trigger - Hockey
Re: Colgate 1 at Cornell 2 - Postgame - 16 years ago
Greening was great last weekend too. He scored both goals against Yale, and was the reason for both goals against Gate. He did make a poor play in the Yale game, taking the body on the Yale forward, missing him, and allowing a 2-on-1 that tied the game, but since that one error he has played nearly flawless hockey. He has an excellent upside, with great size and hands, and decent speed. If he canby Trigger - Hockey
Re: Colgate 1 at Cornell 2 - Postgame - 16 years ago
It had to happen one of these games. A few years ago, at Starr, their chant of choice was simply "f&%$ You Cor-Nell". Figured that could get an entire section kicked out of Lynah. And NO, I don't think Colgate students are smart enough not to do something that idiotic.by Trigger - Hockey
Re: Colgate 1 at Cornell 2 - Postgame - 16 years ago
According to goalie stats, there was a netminder for about 55 minutes, which means it is possible that Princeton pulled the sieve with 7 left, and only put him back periodically when there was a face-off in their own end. I'm surprised they'd do that when down 4 goals in a non-playoff game, but that shows Princeton will aggressively pursue wins against anyone.by Trigger - Hockey
Where's Mugford - 16 years ago
I knew somebody was missing from last week. Where's Tyler Mugford?by Trigger - Hockey
Re: ECACHL Officiating - 17 years ago
Good point. I was there. I did not think about that game because anything that goes against Harvard (sucks) is automatically a good call in my book. But penalty standards do change when the game is lopsided in any sport. I used to officiate basketball, and I must say that when it is close, you call every little thing, but if it is a blowout, you let some little things go to see if the team who isby Trigger - Hockey
Re: ECACHL Officiating - 17 years ago
I noted that. It just seems like it's about 70-30 against Cornell.by Trigger - Hockey
ECACHL Officiating - 17 years ago
There have been a lot of posts discussing officials, and many have said that they should have started a new thread about this topic. I agree, so here you go. First up, something positive. Peter Feola is among the best referees in the ECACHL, and consistently calls a fair game. I have not noticeably disagreed with any of his calls yet this year. Now for some negative. Re: scrivens - 17 years ago
Is no one else dismayed at this person's disrespect toward one of the best coaches in all of college hockey? Schafer recruited Scrivens, so if he is really a bad coach, what does that say about Scrivens' abilities?by Trigger - Hockey
Re: Quinnipac and fans are for real - 17 years ago
So you are saying that losing with grace is something we Cornell fans should try, then. You are certainly one to talk, after all of the people with Cornell stickers on their cars came out of your crappy rink last year to find that some douche poured water all over their cars. We are sore losers? Maybe you need to speak with your own student body.by Trigger - Hockey
Re: Cornell 4 @ Yale 2 (2nd period) - 17 years ago
That's not good. Mugford will sit out next game, which is kind of a big one...by Trigger - Hockey
