Re: Cornell Goaltenders - 17 years ago
Duffus was outstanding '91-'92. But the year before, when we had all that talent and he rode the bench (McCutcheon didn't know he was that good), we all cheered "Doooffffuuuussss" when he got mop up time in a blowout.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Nieuwendyk to be honored Saturday at Lynah - 17 years ago
Pete GodenschwagerBut you would think his per game scoring would be through the roof in college given what it was his first two years in the NHL. Heck, he had five goals in only nine games for the Flames immediately after his junior year season. If you put 1988 Gretzky in college back then he'd get three goals a game right? Guys in the ECAC who overlapped Joe at least somewhat like Lane MacDonaby RatushnyFan - Hockey

jtwcornell91Somewhat to my surprise, this seemingly one-sided description of events looks more or less accurate based on the video. The only thing it doesn't mention is that Lindros had his back turned to Murray when Murray's stick clipped him in the back of the head, so he probably assumed Murray was deliberately whacking him in retaliation for the hit. But how ridiculous is fighting in the NHby RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Nieuwendyk to be honored Saturday at Lynah - 17 years ago
One question on Nieuwendyk. I missed him at Cornell (I was '88-'92) but saw him play quite a bit in the NHL. How on earth did NCAA teams hold him to <70 goals in 3 years? I know he only played something like 75 games in 3 years, but how did they do it? Was it a case of just a tremendous amount of defensive focus on him, to the benefit of other Cornell players? Consider: Niewendyk (firsby RatushnyFan - Hockey

6 minutes of play in a 9-4 victory. Blah. Give the kid some ice time.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Matt Connors Has Left the Team - 17 years ago
That's too bad. They guy went from being a highly ranked player to not even getting in a game and going undrafted. Anyone know where he's heading, is he staying at Cornell or trying to transfer to another college hockey program? I wish him luck.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros -- January 2007 - 17 years ago
The 5-8 minutes of ice time that Doug has played the last six games since his return don't suggest major confidence in his game right now. He was a +2 before his time on IR with far more significant ice time, I don't know why they don't give him more minutes. 5-8 minutes is goon ice time.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Al DeFlorioI'm sure the "waist lockdown gasket system" alone will be worth at least two goals per game. That's what I use in the office to avoid any sort of problems. They haven't invented anti-Viagra yet as far as I'm aware.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Ceramic Dalmatians - 17 years ago
I get to say it, because I was an Ag Ec major. I don't even mind the farming stereotypes. Most people don't honestly believe that I'm a farmer in NY City. That one ag course (economic of agriculture or whatever it was called) that they forced me to take was seriously boring as I recall.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

ebilmesMaybe finals weren't too good: possibility of players failing?Nah, aren't they all Ag Ec majors?by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: OT: Former Gopher Kessel has "medical issue" - 17 years ago
billhowardToo bad. At 19, the guy barely had a chance to try them out. Hope he's in for permanent remission. Bad things happen to Boston athletes. More than other towns? Just a few: Tony Conigliaro (beaning) Len Bias (unfamiliarity with cocaine dosages) Phil Kessel (cancer) You forgot the hockey one: Not sure if I'm interpeting your post correctly, but are you assuming that he lost bby RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Joe Nieuwendyk Retires - 17 years ago
Thanks for the memories Joe. Hoping you stay close to the game in some capacity, I'm sure he will. Sustained excellence is a rare thing in the NHL. I'm sure it's hard to walk away even with the injuries.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Cornell 6 Union 0 postgame (12/2/06) - 17 years ago
This was Scrivens' first start, right (though he has played before)? Has another Cornell goalie pitched a shutout in their first start? Just curious but no time to look it up.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros -- November 2006 - 17 years ago
Doug just got put on IR - "upper respiratory infection" Let the kid play!! The Great One is annoying me. Lenny played decent in spots, not so good in a couple of instances, but he had a quick hook and didn't give the kid much of a chance before absolutely destroying him in the press. Nice move, Wayne, if you're trying to trade him. Way to leverage the situation, maximize hiby RatushnyFan - Hockey

Re: Alumni in the Pros -- October 2006 - 17 years ago
Lenny was solid in his first game. Let in a weak goal to F. Pisani but that was after making two great saves on breakaways by A. Hemsky. He had no chance on the second goal. Gretzky has already indicated that he has the hot hand and will be starting versus the Rangers on Saturday night.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: List of current Pros - 17 years ago
Many of you are probably aware of this link but if not may be of use to a few. The list is good with a couple of exceptions. They don't add alumni until after their first pro season. So, for example, you won't see Ryan O'Byrne on this list. You'll see him on the list next year. Also, the list doesn't show current year statistics but if you click on the individual you'll find their yearby RatushnyFan - Hockey

Re: Alumni in the Pros -- October 2006 - 17 years ago
Doug is in the doghouse. Hasn't played regularly since January. Slight injury last year, sure, but he has been healed for a long time (mid/late March?). Only thing that I don't get is why they gave him a 3 year one-way contract (not sure if this is fact or just the Internet rumor). They must have thought he'd make more progress than he has so far.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Re: Mark Morris - 17 years ago
Speaking of OT - hey Rich, which team do you coach at the Ice Vault? My kid is on the Mahwah Mites (just moved to Sportorama this season, which stinks) but I'm thinking about putting him on the Bandits.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Matt Connors - 17 years ago
Just curious if anyone expects Matt to get significant playing time this year and develop into a scorer at the D-1 level. I was doing some reading on the New York Applecore/EJHL and saw that he played there. It seemed like he was a highly regarded prospect who has fallen off the map. I've never seen him play.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
