Re: Hockey players get NCAA's highest scholarships: NYT - 16 years ago
It's amazing to me to think that some parents can be so in the dark about their financing choices. My boys play travel hockey and soccer purely because they enjoy it and because our family can afford it. While they're both good at it, I have zero expectations other than hoping that they'll have fun with it and all their hard work at a young age may put them in a position to play in high school.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Downtime & Performance - 16 years ago
CowbellGuyBeen chasing a performance problem that's been present to various degrees for about a year.I'm not sure that I'd admit that......by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Sweet. 3rd star of the game, for all that's worth. I'll bet his teammates mobbed him, they love him.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: RIT-Canisius - 16 years ago
scoop85I saw Canisius play Army, and I'm not surprised they got involved in some goonery. BTW, Army has a pretty darn good team. I wouldn't be shocked to see them win the AH tournament and give some top team a scare. The 2-1 game at Army? I saw that game, brought my kids. Great game, great atmosphere, but the thing I noticed versus other NCAA leagues is that the passing wasn't very sharp.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: O'Byrne Arrested - 16 years ago
ugarte.........or an obnoxious thing done by a young guy with a false sense of entitlement who was being a bully. He's huge, he's in Montreal, he's an NHL hockey player. Come on, he's entitled.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - February 2008 - 16 years ago
Interesting..........I wonder if he was waived from HIFK? Not sure how he's available mid-season otherwise (trade between HIFK and Sparta unlikely)? From your link: "Twenty-five-year-old defenseman came to Sparta from IFK Helsinki where he had played 38 matches and got 15 points (2+13). Cook signed a contract to the end of this season."by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - February 2008 - 16 years ago
Murray may be out for a week per Ron Wilson. Murray sidelined Anyone know what is going on with Charlie Cook? Hockeydb.com seems to indicate that he was on HIFK Helsinki with Vesce but didn't play any games. He's now listed as playing for Sparta Praha.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Re: Alumni in the Pros - January 2008 - 16 years ago
Roy 82I wonder what the greatest number of games played without a goal is (Goalies don't count). I assume you're not taking a pot shot at Marc Deschamps and his 75 game goose egg (we love you Marc!). Re. the NHL, do you mean to start a career or just any period within a career? Aaron Miller went the final 22 games of '04, 56 games of '06, 82 games in '07 and 33 games into this season withoutby RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - January 2008 - 16 years ago
Douglas Murray played in his 100th NHL game on Saturday. 0 goals, 9 assists, +20, 112 PIM so far. Way to go Dougie, looking forward to the next 100. 2008 prediction: Iggulden gets his NHL call up within the next month.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - December 2007 - 16 years ago
How does O'Byrne's decision making and speed look at the NHL level? Has anyone seen both of his games? I may be in Montreal over the holidays and try to see a game. I hope he sticks but it often seems that for your d-men they're often sent back down at least once.....even if they're good prospects (as Ryan is), particularly if they have other prospects that they want to see in NHL game action.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Re: The Story So Far - 16 years ago
Trotsky3. Nash and Greening When was the last time Cornell had two all-ECAC quality forwards simultaneously? For my money, it was 22 years ago, with Nieuwy and Moeser, and those guys were upperclassmen. You're probably right. '90-'91 had Derraugh (career year), Andison and Hughes who all scored 1.5 points per game or higher but Harvard and Clarkson both had 3 guys with better production, St.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - October 2007 - 16 years ago
Josh '99Douglas has two assists tonight through two periods, both on goals by Jeremy Roenick. 4 assists in 69 games over the previous two seasons, so two in the first two games this season isn't bad at all. I thought Doug looked strong against Vancouver. Announcers missed the Roenick deflection at first and thought that Douglas had a goal - they were clueless, they didn't know that it would havby RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Cornellians who will see ice time in the NHL in '07 - 16 years ago
Doug Murray Lenny Mike Iggulden (fingers crossed - why not give a player like him a shot on the 4th line?) .....and don't forget Etienne Belzile Hard to see McKee getting a shot. O'Byrne, not sure. Wish Charlie and Ryan were sticking around stateside.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Could It Be? - 17 years ago
That's awesome. Did he get a varsity letter for that shift? At a minimum, he lives on for eternity in hockeydb.com. More than I can say.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: MSU Wins - 17 years ago
I know that Manderville married Kim Ratushny. I could hardly call myself RatushnyFan if I didn't know that. I've kept in very loose touch with Dan since he retired, I work for a Canadian bank and when I last checked in he was an intern at one of the top Canadian law firms.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: MSU Wins - 17 years ago
KeithKSo, is your wife MandervilleFan? No. And you wouldn't ask that if you were at Cornell when he played.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: MSU Wins - 17 years ago
ugarteTheir best shot at getting into Cornell took shape the second you got into Cornell. It probably also wouldn't hurt their chances if you endowed a RatushnyFan Professor of Low Expectations in the Government Department. My wife went to Cornell, too. But I'm sticking with the hockey plan.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: MSU Wins - 17 years ago
jtwcornell91But it sounded to me like the final game still isn't over, since they never played the last 1.9 seconds after the Spartans' premature celebration. Maybe this can be the Hockey Season That Never Ends.It does feel like the hockey season never ends. Maybe it's because my 3 boys all play on two teams, fall and spring seasons. I guess I figure that their best shot of getting into Cornelby RatushnyFan - Hockey

Why can't he be a special consultant to Mike??by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Defections? - 17 years ago
Matt Herr played both hockey and baseball at Michigan. He was drafted in both sports I believe, though he was a much higher hockey draft choice. I have no idea if the allegations on this board are true, but I would be a little disappointed if Mike didn't let someone talented play two sports. I'm not convinced that it is true.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Milo - 17 years ago
RitaWe should be careful in our speculations such that reputation of Cornell and its students are not damaged by unsubstantiated claims. Not to mention that there's an online forum for this: USCHO.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Re: Complaining Early About the Fall 2007 Ticket Line - 17 years ago
A couple of people were hurt in '91 (pressed up against a fence) and many seniors who had season tix for 3 years got shut out. First time they changed the location, I believe, so when they announced it people rushed there and there was pushing, cutting, etc.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
