Re: Scrivens for Hobey? - 15 years ago
I would think that the best winning percentage, 1.25 GAA and 95.3% save % would put him in the running...............but it's still a bit too early to start seriously thinking about this. After next weekend's games or the following week, if the team is still doing as well and he has these numbers than I say it's time to start making comparisons.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

jkahnI spoke with an Islander scout Sunday in Estero. I told him they should call up Iggy. He mentioned that he had spent some time with Mike a few days ago - "really nice kid" is how he described him, but didn't really respond to the call up idea. I told him that Mike was great on the penalty kill for us, and they have nothing to lose by giving him a shot (except, and I didn't thinkby RatushnyFan - Hockey

Josh '99Huh, I had no idea Casey was from Quebec. Never would've guessed from his name. I had no idea, either. Rope in Etienne Belzile and Marc Deschamps to help with the recruiting and start making some visits! I'm imagining that it's somewhat difficult to convince French-speaking kids from Quebec to spend 4 years in upstate NY? We've had a few good ones, I hope it works out.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

What is it going to take for the Islanders to recall Iggy? They're calling up a couple of stiffs. Bridgeport also did a Q&A piece on Iggy recently.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Lenny filled the backup role admirably (hair combed, congratulated Hiller after the game, watched the game versus staring into space) before being sent back down. Unfortunately for him Hiller is playing pretty well this year. I watch all the Ducks games given my Brendan Morrison fetish. Dougie usually suits up regardless of the opposing team's speed (though that can impact his minutes playedby RatushnyFan - Hockey

That's too bad. When do the lowly Isles recall Iggy, their leading scorer. Give the kid 10 games to show what he can do........heck, they've done that with plenty of retreads who can't score at all.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Circa '89 one of our fine students tossed one of those toys on the ice. I was young, I thought it was funny. That I still think it's funny points to my maturity level.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

cbuckserRatushnyFanisn't this the goalie from BU that was in the '91 game, when BU beat us 5-4 @ Lynah? Boston College won that game.Whoops, you're right, my bad. My memory isn't what it used to be.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - October 2008 - 15 years ago
Here's a (sad) tangent to the alumni thread............isn't this the goalie from BU that was in the '91 game, when BU beat us 5-4 @ Lynah? As I recall, at the end of the game, he skated around the rink giving the Lynah crowd the finger. Hate to bring that up, but it was a very memorable game with Ryan Hughes scoring 4 goals. RIP Scott. Re: Alumni in the Pros - September 2008 - 15 years ago
I think opposing players really keep their heads up more with him out there and he changes the flow of the game enough that he's a really valuable player. That said, against good teams with fast forwards (like Dallas in the playoffs) I thought that his foot speed left him exposed at times. But I would definitely want him on my team and I think he'll log enough minutes and continue to be an effeby RatushnyFan - Hockey

Re: Casey Jones returns to Cornell - 15 years ago
RichHVery odd find whilst googling: looking at the list of other athletes this guy has done...it seems he gets contracted to do them.I'm afraid to look at the Jeremy Shockey 12 inch. Welcome back, Casey. Driving that train, high on..............whoops, wrong Casey. If you look at the comments to the O'Byrne article, Sampson 1 has an interest explanation. It's mere conjecture but he thinks that O'Byrne was trying to help a fellow teammate - the women supposedly had compromising photos of him. Not that you should steal her purse, but I like the thought of him sticking up for a teammate versus a stupid random prank. I never thought of him as a real criminby RatushnyFan - Hockey

Ryan O'Byrne re-signs with the Canadiens. It's a 3 year deal. No terms yet. Could it be a one way deal? I don't think he would have signed a 3 year two way deal where he could be buried in the organization for pennies.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Josh '99pfibigerMike Iggulden was signed by the Islanders:Ewwwww.Not so bad if he actually gets more than a cup of coffee at the NHL level? I don't like the Islanders either but they could use some two way forwards. Plus, if he becomes successful at the NHL level, he'll leave!by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Captains for Next Year - 16 years ago
ACMGreg Ratushny was Dan and Kim's younger brother. He was accepted by Cornell for the class of '96, but was seriously injured in a car accident shortly before his scheduled arrival at Cornell (summer of 1992). He never recovered from those injuries. I don't know exactly when he passed away, but the Greg Ratushny award was established in April 1997.An article from the Kansas City Star in 1998 sugby RatushnyFan - Hockey

I'm a Michigan fan but Christian Hanson was obviously hurt in the first period and toughed it out and played. He showed a lot of determination. I was surprised at how big he, Cole and a couple of the Notre Dame kids were. I haven't looked at the rosters but they have to be bigger than B.C. They were slower than Michigan but passed well and forced a lot of offsides and icing calls against Michby RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Selection Show - 16 years ago
Chris '03I like how they went out of their way to protect no. 1 seeds from having to play at host schools the year Michigan doesn't have a home regional. Wouldn't want poor Michigan to get a taste of its own medicine now would we? Woulda been funny to see an under-.500 Bucky team knock of Michigan at home to earn a FF bid.Don't they deserve the easiest draw given their overall #1 PWR ranking? Thby RatushnyFan - Hockey
