Re: Impressions from SLU(t)/Clarkson weekend at Lynah - 18 years ago
I see your point, but our whole idea was to change up the night's cheers so we could have a new one besides the standard and overused "Section O sucks" Like Ari said, after too much cheering by yourself you are gonna get tired of it and little light headed to boot.by oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Impressions from SLU(t)/Clarkson weekend at Lynah - 18 years ago
Well Clarkson's fan section kept up with their "Here we go Clarkson..." for basically the whole game. To mix things up from the "Section O sucks" some friends and I tried for the "get a new cheer" with the subsequent claps but it ended up being just our little section in the first few rows of A carrying it on. I don't know what the deal is with the rest of the secby oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Clarkson at Cornell postgame thread (2/21/06) - 18 years ago
I thought McKee had two saves tonight which he probably had no business making. The first was in the first period on a quick 2 on 1 down low that he went post to post in the full split to catch a piece of it. The second was the one I assume you are talking about in the third off the odd man rush. McKee had to go from his right to left and went down early. The Clarkson player roofed it but McKee gby oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: cornell st law. pregame - 18 years ago
A quick look at the stats shows that these two teams have a few similarities. Special teams are almost identical numbers (PPs at about 16% and PKs around 87%) and both have been outscored in the second period, while dominating scoring in the first and third. However, in conference play SLU is averaging nearly a goal per game more, both scored and allowed. And on top of that SLU hasn't been taby oceanst41 - Hockey

I think the article already factored in the 3-2-1 bonus That would make SLU the third ranked PWR teamby oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Cornell at Princeton postgame thread 1/14/06 - 18 years ago
I was listening online, and it seems to me that once Princeton had the goal they went into a prevent almost immediately. It really felt like they were doing everything possible to take time of the clock while keeping Cornell away from any dangerous shooting areas, which I guess is the point. However, it sounded like Princeton stopped trying to put any offensive pressure on, and focused instead onby oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Quinnipiac postgame - 18 years ago
The Glover injury hopefully doesn't amount to much. I was sitting right by the bench and he was stretching it out without too much difficulty, plus he was able to skate out to shake hands at the end. As for the game I was pleased as to how much flow the offense had. This was a 5 on 5 contest for most of the first two periods - which I might add seemed to be because Hansen was reffing a prettyby oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Sharks vs. Bruins on NESN at 7pm tonight, Jan. 10 - 18 years ago
He got a few shots to the net, but still no points The NESN announcers talked Doug up a bit during the second or third too, not sure which period. They were discussing how San Jose is moving their AHL team from Cleveland to Worcester, and how they develop their players so well. They were talking with a coach who worked on all the younger players' skating skills, and that coach was going on aboby oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Cornell-RIT post game - 18 years ago
This is my view from the webcast, but the physical play was there from the guys that have been showing it all year. OB, Sawada, and Mugford pretty much carry the physical play for Cornell, that's probably why Schafer opts to start them most of the time. There are other guys who like to mix it up out there, the Abbotts and Barlow for instance, but they are never gonna really knock someone out likeby oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: A Modest Proposal: The Bucknell Plan - 18 years ago
To be fair to Niagara if they run the table in the CHA and get the tourny bid, that's two wins against a TUC for Cornell, and they beat UNH which we can use for a common opponent win. However, MSU is killing us by seemingly rolling over the past few weeks and that loss to Union...nevermind that didn't happenby oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Tournament Games over the Holidays - 18 years ago
Big win for sucks, and it's nice to see Union back to form - good thing they decided to show up in Ithaca But seriously sometimes we complain about lopsided officiating 2 PP's for Union comapred to 11 for the Goophers (5 of which they scored on)by oceanst41 - Hockey

Re: Cornell 5, Niagara 4 (Post-game Thread) - 18 years ago
I liked what I saw for the most part last night, especially offensively. After not scoring even strength for 3 games it was nice to see something other than a man up goal. They were using the points more and this open Niagara up a little bit to allow players to drive to the net. So instead of being hit with the point shots out players were able to clean up the rebounds and bury them. We haveby oceanst41 - Hockey

Re: What The Hell Do I Do? Injustice Maybe? - 18 years ago
I did hear that there were a few fans who showed up in the third to find their seats crowded. They were mad that they couldn't sit down because people were standing too close.by oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: What The Hell Do I Do? Injustice Maybe? - 18 years ago
Probably for the best, but it is weird that they enacted it last night for the first time. And they told us as much when they were doing it. They definitely eluded to the face that it was because of the puck hitting the girl in B, EMS never tried to pass in front of A then either. It wasn't until the puck went into Section A, and then bounced of a friend's hand back onto the ice, that EMS walkby oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: What The Hell Do I Do? Injustice Maybe? - 18 years ago
That's what we said. They told us it was because it took a while for EMS to get to the girl in B. If she was in the middle of the section anyway, then it would be just as difficult to get to her there. At least it is a better reason than what they've come up with for not swearing during Gary Glitter and "See ya."by oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: What The Hell Do I Do? Injustice Maybe? - 18 years ago
The ushers were also pretty hardcore about not allowing any standing on the concrete in front of the glass in A and B for the first time I can remember. I don't know if it was like that in D,E, and F, but it sure was in A and B. The woman usher in A told us is was enacted as of Friday night, for an incident that happen in the Union game. We found out later that it may have had something to do witby oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Union 2 @ Cornell 1 (postgame thread 11/18/05) - 18 years ago
Perfect faceoff win right to him, he moved to his left and the puck rolled off his stick as he shot it. That about sums up the night there.by oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Union 2 @ Cornell 1 (postgame thread 11/18/05) - 18 years ago
Well on the bright side he only let up two goals on 13 shots, at DC it was 5 in 13 shotsby oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Union 2 @ Cornell 1 (postgame thread 11/18/05) - 18 years ago
That was a pretty good play by Bitz, faking the dump in and then throwing it on net instead. Mayotte must've gotten in a routine of coming out of the net early to stop the dump ins. One miss step or a goal stick that was an inch shorter and that's a goal.by oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Union 2 @ Cornell 1 (postgame thread 11/18/05) - 18 years ago
I have to agree. From my seat in A I was on a line where I could see the Union shooter, then Pegs trying to block his shot, but NOT McKee. I am just assuming that if I couldn't see McKee then McKee couldn't see the shooter fully.by oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Union 2 @ Cornell 1 (postgame thread 11/18/05) - 18 years ago
No thank god, but I watched online. To be fair the D didn't really help him any in that game. His getting pulled was as much to save what confidence he had left as it was he just didn't have his game that night.by oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Union 2 @ Cornell 1 (postgame thread 11/18/05) - 18 years ago
I haven't really been too worried about McKee until tonight. It wasn't anything I thought he should have saved or could have saved, it was that his routine isn't there anymore. Goaltending is a lot about confidence, and confident goalies just do their thing as if they are the only ones on the ice. McKee is usually a skater, skating to one corner then the other, tapping the posts and crossbar,by oceanst41 - Hockey
Re: Union 2 @ Cornell 1 (postgame thread 11/18/05) - 18 years ago
It's already been said but Cornell was not outplayed in this game, thankfully. My thinking as i just get home from the game is that Union probably only had 2 scoring chances the entire game. They just happened to score on both. Cornell had loads of chances, but Mayotte, like he usually does with Cornell, stopped all but one. 33 shots on goal and maybe twice as many hit bodies in front orby oceanst41 - Hockey
