Worcester: Travel Tips - 6 years ago
An old friend and colleague from Cornell who lives in Worcester now (but alas has to be out of town this weekend) offered me the following tidbits, for none of which I claim responsibility, good or bad: Where to stay: The West Side: between Park Ave on the southeast boundary and 190 on the east You are rolling the dice near Becker College; everything around WPI is nice/collegetowny; the Claby Beeeej - Hockey

BearLover Beeeej BearLover The best matchup we could get per the pairwise was Michigan Tech. There's nothing in the pairwise that says the 2nd-best team getting the 14th-best team is any more unjust than the 3rd-best team getting the 13th-best team. Sure there is. It's called finishing in 2nd, which is slightly higher than 3rd, and gets slightly better treatment. The only way you can justify giby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Ticket info & Who's going to Worcester? - 6 years ago
coz Anybody know which schools sections are which? Trying to buy and the only lowerbowl section I can do is 120. All I know for certain is that the Cornell allotment is in sections 102 (pep band), 125, 233 and 234. I don't know where the other schools are.by Beeeej - Hockey

ugarte Dafatone Yeah but ticket sales.bah. this is an excuse but not a good reason since it is antithetical to "earning" your seed on the ice. Beeeej ugarte i said this to beeeej offline but i am disturbed less by our getting screwed than by bu getting the benefit of a home game, even though obviously i feel the pain more acutely because cornell gets the short end of the stick. if yoby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: NCAA Regionals, Generally - 6 years ago
Just for shits and giggles, I took a look at the full bracket, and if it's correct (and if I'm reading it correctly, not always a sure bet), the Frozen Four semifinal match-ups are Worcester vs. Bridgeport and Allentown vs. Sioux Falls. So theoretically, at least, we could draw Clarkson in the semifinal and Princeton for the national championship.by Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Bracketology Starts - 6 years ago
ugarte djk26 I think we would find reason to complain if Cornell's regional were Brown, RIT and Alaska Anchorage. And the games were played at Lynah Rink. "That's not fair...the other regions get better preparation for the Frozen Four." It's the NCAA tournament. There are no easy games. We lost in the semifinals of our conference tournament, we have a loss to RPI (#58 in the Pairby Beeeej - Hockey

profudge Hey folks - - going to Bridgeport with my brother for Fri. and Sat. but want to make final in Worcester on Sunday if possible... Q. Can we walk up and get tickets? A. Probably, but there's no guarantee. Many people from all four schools will probably have bought Saturday-only tickets, which means those same seats will be available Sunday - not to mention the people who buy twby Beeeej - Hockey

underskill didn't we beat BC in Worcester in 2003? We beat Quinnipiac and lost to UNH in Worcester in 2002. We beat Minnesota State and BC in Providence in 2003.by Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Ticket info & Who's going to Worcester? - 6 years ago
toddlose Just an FYI. From BU thread on uscho, Cornell sections are 102, 123,124,125, 233 and 234 Thank you. With the benefit of that information, we reversed course again and bought the two-day pass through TM. Section 125, Row H, seats 11-12. Toward the top of the section but we're excited. Re: Ticket info & Who's going to Worcester? - 6 years ago
Beeeej At the moment Ticketmaster doesn't seem able to secure me two tickets in any of the locations it claims are available; it just keep switching me back and forth between rows and telling me another fan got there first, then switching back to the previous row it already said someone had snagged. I don't know how to get past this. Never mind - turned out there just weren't any pairs left avaby Beeeej - Hockey

Is 124 definitely a Cornell section, or are you buying where you can because the Cornell operation is only an "intent to buy tickets" situation?by Beeeej - Hockey

andyw2100 Who would have thought, at the beginning of the season, that we'd be staying up tonight discussing which regional Cornell was going to be sent to --AS A 1-SEED-- and that while there are still three possible regional sites being discussed, they are all no more than a few hours --DRIVE-- from Ithaca, the NYC metro area, etc.? How cool is --THAT--? Pretty amazing. Our predictions from bby Beeeej - Hockey

BearLover Beeeej BearLover WTF why does everyone keep pairing Cornell vs BU? Pair them vs Michigan Tech, an equally valid opponent, and one that Cornell won't be sub-45% to beat... Because typically you assign teams to the regionals in order from highest seed to lowest, so BU will get assigned before MTU. There's no rule you have to assign them that way. There are 16 teams here, it's not rockeby Beeeej - Hockey

Ohio State vs. 13. Boston University 6. Minnesota State vs. 12. Minnesota-Duluth Bridgeport 2. Notre Dame vs. 14. Princeton 7. Providence vs. 10. Clarksonby Beeeej - Hockey

upprdeck should be interesting seeding though if ND wins and PSU has to go to allentown . SCS - Mich - MD - air force ND - Prov - psu - Princ cornell - Minn St - Ne - BU OSU - Denver - Clark - MTech thats a bit messed up though. could easily have 3 all conf finals. Jeff Hopkins '82 Jeff Hopkins '82 Yeah, the Goofers would be #12. So it looks like we get either Michigan Tech or BU. Edit. I take that back. If Notre Dame wins, Duluth is #12 and the Goofers are out. If OSU wins, Minny is #12 and Duluth is out. Well, okay, then.by Beeeej - Hockey
