Re: Rutgers - 22 years ago
I might actually be able to make the Quarters at Hofstra on May 18, but as for the rest... May 11 I'm in Yosemite, May 12 Las Vegas, May 19 NYC AIDSWalk, May 25 and 27 in Miami. Ah, well. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Notes on the Frozen Four (long) - 22 years ago
From what Coach Mullins told me, Coach Schafer is extremely proud of his team and what they accomplished, but it's impossible to come as close to the Frozen Four as they did and not make it, and not do a little bit of second-guessing. We didn't get into much detail, which is probably just as well since repeating even this much makes me a bit uncomfortable. As for the women's team, Coach thinksby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Notes on the Frozen Four (long) - 22 years ago
That's what the guy said (unless I mentally inserted the "city" part). He's currently living in Philadelphia, not that I expect that to help much... Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Notes on the Frozen Four (long) - 22 years ago
I'm afraid I stupidly never got his name, but he said he was from New York City originally if that helps. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: [Lax] Syracuse @ Cornell, 4/9 - 22 years ago
Cornell is currently up 5-2 in the first quarter. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Notes on the Frozen Four (long) - 22 years ago
I'm pretty sure Jen didn't row crew. She was also in marching and pep band (as was Anastasia, before anybody asks if she's the Anastasia Enos who pole-vaulted for Cornell). Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
[Lax] Syracuse @ Cornell, 4/9 - 22 years ago
Audio feed seems to be working just fine. Heading for #Lynah now. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey

Thanks, Rich, I appreciate the confirmation. Definitely doesn't excuse the non-calls on Hauser, though. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Notes on the Frozen Four (long) - 22 years ago
Since I think I was the only eLFer there, I thought I should post my Frozen Four diary. Gee, I Wonder if There's Some Hockey Being Played This Weekend I flew Delta from LGA to MSP via CVG (Cincinnati), and the second leg was almost surreally populated with Frozen Four-goers. I knew there would be a heavy Minnesota contingent at the actual games, but this forty-seat plane had about twenty Mby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Hockey-L Dinner - 22 years ago
S'okay, I have to drive into Minneapolis to pick up my friend and host Uncle Mikey (yes, that Uncle Mikey, JTW) for the second semi anyway, so I wouldn't have the time. Should be some good games. Dammit. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: UNH fans - 22 years ago
In this case, someone who bids on several auctions for similar items (e.g., Frozen Four tickets) then only actually follows through on the ones he wins for the best price. My high bidder at the time had been the winning bidder on this Maine alum's tickets, but backed out. Luckily the "trouble bidder" also contacted me, to back out before the auction closed, so he didn't affect the outby Beeeej - Hockey

...on being named a member of the Presidential Search Committee! I don't suppose you could put in a good word for Dryden? Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: UNH fans - 22 years ago
A Maine alum who helped me identify a trouble-bidder in my eBay auction for my extra pair of Frozen Four tix said this afterwards: I was at the Cornell-UNH game in Worcster. They are a big team, showed a lot of good qualities. Play next season like you did in the regional and will see you in the F 4 in Buffalo. Have Fun, Will have to get a Beer and some wings. Hockey-L Dinner - 22 years ago
Is there a Hockey-L Dinner this year? I think I unsubbed from the list months ago, though I still get the occasional posting (I suppose I could still be subbed to Info-Hockey-L, the scores/standings-only version). Anyway, I'm probably too late to sign up at this point. My only experience with the Hockey-L Dinner was in Anaheim in '99, where we supposedly had reserved an entire room and wouldby Beeeej - Hockey

Since when is the first semi not at 12:30pm? Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Swedish (Warning: bad language) - 22 years ago
Saw a t-shirt yesterday in Manhattan that I found out later was for the band "The Haunted" - it said on the back in very big, capital letters: SWEDISH AS FUCK Wonder if we can buy a bunch for the flag-wavers? Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey

Nah, I gave up correcting grammar (and Lent) for Passover. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: For Messers Hyla and DeFlorio - 22 years ago
FWIW, I've had nothing but good experiences with eBay over the course of two very successful years both buying and selling, and that's over 200 transactions total. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
QU fans - 22 years ago
At first, the QU fans seemed really delighted and almost touched that I went down there with the leftover Snickers - a "hey, this Cornell guy is making a genuine overture of good fan relations, and he had to hobble down here to do it" sort of thing. But one bad reffing call, and the candy was flying on the ice. Ah, well... they'll learn. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Red is gonna Kick White's ass - 22 years ago
I heard differently - it's the Pantone-186/Honkies game. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: More ESPN genius - 22 years ago
The piece was credited to the AP - and I took care to mention that specifically in my first post on the subject at the beginning of this thread. I know this is a silly question, but does ESPN (or any other outlet for that matter) ever double-check what AP/UPI/Reuters give them? Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Next year's schedule - 22 years ago
A 6:50pm flight out of Ithaca after a 3pm game at Lynah shouldn't be difficult at all, especially on a Sunday. It's not like being there an hour before departure time serves any purpose at ITH other than to make you wait while the octogenarian security officer wakes up and raises the gate. Re: Pair of Frozen Four tix available - 22 years ago
Seats down low in the Garden go for way more than $100. Anyway, Chris, yeah, they're expensive - the Frozen Four has become a very big deal, and the building sells out a year in advance. It works out to a little less than $42/game. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Pair of Frozen Four tix available - 22 years ago
I'm still going to the games in St. Paul with a friend - but since Cornell isn't going, I've now got an extra unclaimed pair. Each ticket covers both semis (Thursday, April 4, 12:30 and 6:30) and the final (Saturday, April 6, 6:30). Asking face value for the pair, which makes $251.50. Will consider splitting the pair if I get definite interest from two separate people. Seats are in Sectionby Beeeej - Hockey

Re: Bear Head - 22 years ago
Hey, maybe we can get a permanent ban on "Macho Man" thrown in as a 3-for-the-price-of-2 deal. Anyway, the old bear heads weren't exactly the most stable things either. Especially if you were trying to skate around in one, after, say, driving a 12-hour cab shift. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
