Re: CORNELL WINS 2025 MENS LACROSSE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! - 7 days ago
Right after we beat Maryland someone posted here that they were happy to trade the success of their professional teams for a Cornell championship, and I wholeheartedly agreed with them. Well, with the Mets in freefall and the Giants looking miserable after one game, God is putting me to the test (but I still stand by my prior assertion).by scoop85 - Other Sports

Just seeing we lost 1-0 on a goal against in the 71st minute. Outshot UCI 12-6, but it seems we haven’t found the guy(s) to replace Harris or Ka as of yet. Lots of time to figure out who steps up.by scoop85 - Other Sports

Kudos to ace reporter Jane McNally for getting the win in her first career start in goal for the Cornell field hockey team, which defeated Colgate today 2-1.by scoop85 - Hockey

Trotsky What do you think of that? I gotta say, when the RPI student experience comes to mind, based on alumni I have known, "happy" isn't the first word association I'd have made. I know several RPI alums and current students, and I concur with that assessment.by scoop85 - Hockey

BearLover marty Will BearLover (But I’m not sure this really helps Cornell win a national title, which is what I care about the most.) The more games Cornell gets to play at Lynah, the better. Obviously there's no guarantee Cornell will be in the top 8 or top 4 to guarantee postseason home games, but the risk seems worth it if Cornell can even get a postseason berth. I'm wondering whether thby scoop85 - Hockey

Re: New Facemask Rule - 5 weeks ago
Trotsky I hope they return discretion to the ref. There are times when it's a major when they reach in and yank it. In general automatic penalties are stoopid. Yanking or twisting the face mask is still a 5 minute major, as it should be.by scoop85 - Hockey
New Facemask Rule - 5 weeks ago
The NCAA passed a welcome new rule making placing a hand on an opponent’s face mask only a minor penalty; we saw the previous ridiculous rule resulting in a 5 minute major last year in the NCAAs when Walsh face washed a BU kid.by scoop85 - Hockey

upprdeck coaches sometimes liked exh games because they could use the players to develop things and it didn't go to towards record or PWR in anyway. And in exhibitions they can play everyone on the roster, even those guys who will typically be sitting in the stands for games.by scoop85 - Hockey

upprdeck George64 Cornell among 32 schools sued over alleged early decision conspiracy per Cornell Sun. Martha Pollock exited at the right time. All she had to contend with was COVID. So lets say you apply to 3 schools hoping for early decision and you get one that says yes. Al DeFlorio 1970 NCAA final vs. Clarkson highlights are there. Would like 1970 ECAC final. Also, would like 1966 ECAC quarter and semi to see the Ferguson twins at their best. I've found very sparse clips from the 1970 NCAA final on Youtube. I believe there was a longer highlight package on Vimeo, but haven't come across that for awhile.by scoop85 - Hockey

BearLover Chris '03 BearLover Trotsky Well I for one am shocked, shocked that an entity run to generationally perpetuate the dominance of the wealthy has no problems sacrificing every core democratic and human value to suck up to fascists. George64 NY Times: Columbia capitulates. In PR-speak, they reached a negotiated settlement. Go Harvard! This sad episode underscores how reliant on government funding even the most well-endowed universities are to support their operations.
