Re: Alumni in the Pros - October 2014 - 9 years ago
Something's gotta give in Ottawa..........a consistent healthy scratch making $2.65mm isn't sustainable. They have to at least showcase Greening if they're going to try and trade him.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Let's hope so..........yes, I get the reference. Hockey input preferred. I've heard he's quite a physical player.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Bobby Robbins, who toiled 9 years in the minors, played his first NHL game for the B's last night. Nice story. Craig Cunningham, another rookie, played in just his 3rd NHL game. I would think that the B's are going to give some of these young guys, including Ferlin, a few games each to see who has NHL mojo. Always great watching the Flyers lose.....by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Daren Eliot is now working with Little Caesars as director of minor hockey operations. Pizza Pizza Little Caesars has great AAA youth teams, I've run into that buzzsaw a few times at the Chicago Bauer tournament with my kids. Sounds like a fun job. He's keeping his night job as hockey analyst on Fox Sports Detroit for Red Wings games. Two fun jobs.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Funny. I actually picked Cornell over U. Penn and U. Chicago. Wouldn't change a thing and I hope my kids go to the #1 safety school.by RatushnyFan - John Spencer Is Dead

Also curious about Sade. Spoke with his junior billet family today and they were so positive on him as a person.........and as a great stay at home defenseman who can really hit.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Cornell Hockey European Tour - 9 years ago
cbuckser were you at the games or just providing info (helpful of course). I'm curious on the scouting report for some of the new kids like Alex Rauter if anyone saw the games.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Bartender killed, Simeon's destroyed in runaway truck accident - 9 years ago
I walked by Simeon's this past weekend when I was in town dropping my kids off at hockey camp. What a tragedy, RIP Amanda Bush. This article indicates that the truck driver consider driving straight into the Commons but saw construction workers who would have been hit: Accident Description Walking by the area and considering the options he had at that point.......not fun to think about.by RatushnyFan - John Spencer Is Dead

A good game overall for Matt. Would have liked to see him block that shot that Stastny scored on but great job of screening Varlamov throughout the game.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Jerseygirl I rarely post these days, but when I do, I make it count. How did you recognize the pictures? Thought you were a young Doug Murray era type? Are you cyber-stalking old hockey players?by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Re: What is your definition of a Successful Season - 10 years ago
Perhaps a minority opinion here - I'm not a fan of consolation games. We had to beat Union, period. If you have to win a consolation game to get into the NCAAs you don't deserve to go IMO. It cuts both ways - in another year, someone could bump us from the tourney by winning a consolation game. And a meaningless consolation game is an awful sight to see.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Should He Stay or Should He Go 2014 - 10 years ago
Be careful what you wish for. Brian McCutcheon is available (I think).......wasn't he fired after one season in Italy? My question is whether we can find and recruit players analogous to Moulson, Vesce, Greening........even a couple more Ferlin types. I don't think that the staff is either lazy or somehow less competent so I presume that it's not easy but they're working intently on recruitiby RatushnyFan - Hockey

20-10-5. Win the ECAC tourney, make it to the NCAAs and pick up a win.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: LP Games - 10 years ago
rediceI will confess my surprise that Joakim Ryan was not 1st team all-ecac. I am a big fan of his, but I used to think that he could be manhandled in front of Cornell's net. Not sure if others agree with that assessment. I think he has improved his defensive play. The kid is tough too, he blocked a shot with his facemask against Quinnipiac in their barn. Shook it off on the bench and kept goby RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: LP Games - 10 years ago
BearLover^^ Goal differential probably is a better indication of lop-sided scores and overall offensive explosiveness than winning. Noooooooooooo. This is NOT correct--in fact the total opposite is true.I looked at the NHL standings to get another view, point taken, I retract that statement. Teams like Philly and Montreal have very average goal differentials and are in position to make the playby RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: LP Games - 10 years ago
^^ Goal differential probably is a better indication of lop-sided scores and overall offensive explosiveness than winning. 17-10-5 is a reasonable record. We have an outstanding class of 2015 - Ferlin, Ryan, Lowry and McCarron were our top four scorers. Bardreau (6th in scoring) is simply a great two-way hockey player. There's only one senior leaving who was a top 10 scorer........our secondby RatushnyFan - Hockey
