Re: NCAA Day 2 (March 30) - 5 years ago
The second penalty on Morgan Barron was a joke. Davies completely embellished. Replay clearly showed he was pushed, not driven into the boards. Should have been a dive, Not surprised he was back on the ice right off the bat for the PP. Impressive effort. Balanced scoring. Think we dictated our game and wore them down. Couple of tough breaks for sure. But I thought that Cornell played excellent hockey for much of the game. Curious if the officials have a more difficult time transitioning to the Olympic sheet? Despite the big ice they were in the way more often than what I normally see. They have a tough job. Apologizing would be nice, if they do that though I imagine it would be to Cornell's coaching staffby RatushnyFan - Hockey

Have to say I'm surprised that Jason Botterrill has not given Moulson a 3-5 game test stint as second line LW on the Sabres. Botterrill was in some ways a similar player to Moulson in college, probably more physical but less skilled (particularly with his shot). Nobody on the Sabres besides Jeff Skinner is producing. Truly fantastic response from Riley Nash on Twitter......directed at an individual who bemoaned the CBJs signing him Riley's response I saw Riley play Dec 23rd vs the New Jersey Devils. Played 7 minutes in a dominating 3-0 CBJ win. Tough to score when you're not on the ice much, you're on the fourth line, and your job is to dump the puck deep and not let the other team score. French Rage CU2007 Announcer just said he had a “not family friendly” story to share about what was thrown on the ice in the Harvard game in 1990. Anyone? If I had to guess, it rhymes with "schmildo".Yes, I was there. Might have been someone whose name rhymes with "Andy" or someone whose name rhymes with "partial" - both nonetheless not only graduated but also achby RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Arizona State - 5 years ago
D1 hockey economics FYI - ASU also had two donations totalling $32mm. Possibly much of this is earmarked for the on-campus rink they're building. Maybe some for the travel budget? Guess that very few college hockey programs are self-supporting? University of MN had $4.7mm in ticket sales and $1.2mm in directed contributions. Coaches sales totalled $800k. Travel expenses were nearly $80by RatushnyFan - Hockey

DeBoer is overplaying Karlsson, Burns and Pickles. Everyone needs to earn their ice time. Karlsson's ice time is down somewhat versus Ottawa, but you have multiple stud defensemen now. Ryan's ice time is down 5 minutes per game compared to last year. That's huge. I find it hard to believe that he's gotten worse. I'd have Karlsson and Burns earn their way to 23-24 mins a night versus jusby RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Where are our Alumni Playing Now - 5 years ago
Erik Karlsson just traded to Sharks. Another elite right shot defenseman alongside Burns. Left shot defensemen include Ryan, Vlasic and Dillon. Looks like Ryan will play with Burns, Karlsson or Braun - I'd guess Burns given some success last year? Sharks depth chartby RatushnyFan - Hockey

Looks like they must have fixed it. You would think they'd nail the spelling of HOF members. He's had a pretty impressive coaching career as well. Always thought he deserved more of an NHL look.....but nobody asked my opinion!by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Dan Ratushny was fired from Lausanne. Seems odd as they did this 12 games into the season and last year he was coach of the year? I'm probably a bit biased on this issue. Ratushny let goby RatushnyFan - Hockey

Good game for Rauter. Did he sit out Friday vs Q? Anybody know why? My wife and son went representing Cornell. Hardly an Orange-out. SAD!by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Ryan sent down http://www.mercurynews.com/2017/10/03/sharks-made-final-cuts-ahead-of-wednesdays-season-opener/ Bummer, sounds like he's playing very well. Think this has much to do with the fact that they can send him down without losing his rights vs some others needing to clear waivers.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Where are our Alumni Playing Now - 6 years ago
Sounds like Joakim Ryan is playing well. Hope he makes the Sharks, although they have some decisions to make. I'll put in a good word with Pete DeBoer!! https://thehockeywriters.com/san-jose-sharks-year-of-peter-deboer/by RatushnyFan - Hockey

McCarron looked gassed at times on Saturday in the 2nd and 3rd period, some 20-30 second shifts where he was looking to get off. He didn't play poorly, I just think they realized the legs weren't there so keep the shifts short. I've never been able to find TOI for college games. I've trolled and I can't find it. BearLover scoop85 upprdeck our D and its inability to clear with control of the puck was an issue all weekend.. we would lose control or whiff or not get it up the boards all weekend long.. by far the worst the D has looked in awhile, or at least everytime other teams really went with pressure, which will probably be every game from now one. Smith's absence is quite noticeable. The D is outby RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros- March '17 - 7 years ago
That's twice now he's been called up and hasn't cracked the lineup. Can't imagine what that feels like, especially since he's playing so well in the AHL. Here's hoping he gets his chance soon.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Recruits 2016 and Beyond - 7 years ago
I have a 2003, he'd be glad to commit. The way college commitments work these days maybe we'll announce it next week. My 6'4" 2001 d-man might be a better fit though. I had to train myself to stop saying "Luke, I am your father" with my best Vader falsetto because my 2003 has a teammate named Luke (awkward!).by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Recruits 2016 and Beyond - 7 years ago
Interesting. My son's prep school played Gunnery twice this year and split with them. Can't say that I recall Rayhill standing out but he's a 2001 playing mostly against 1998 and 1999 players, that's impressive. Not that many 2001s playing with the big boys.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Trotsky RatushnyFanPenn State is just crushing it in terms of grabbing AYHL (mostly NY/NJ/CT) talent. Sternschein, Paquette, Crespo, Dowd, Gratton, Goldowski, Agriogianis and Barratt all grew up playing for AYHL teams. Barratt is freakishly good, he's one to watch. Agriogianis is the hardest working youth hockey player I've ever seen. I've seen all of them play except Crespo. That's amazing.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
