Re: Cornell 0 RPI 3 (1st intermission) - 18 years ago
Yet another really bad first period. This will be a gut check game -- Cornell needs to salvage a point, here. I have no idea how they can do that when they have no powerplay and no kill, and 75% of the game is going to be 5x4. This is genuinely disheartening. They've been poor 3.5 times in the last 5 outings.by Trotsky - Hockey

RichHTrotskyThe RPI feed is fine, as always. Who has the better Eng program, again? Well, apparently, our Athletic Department is too stupid to realize that we have an engineering program adequate enough to do a MUCH better job than an organization such as CSTV. I was joking. I know our people can do a better job than CSTV, considering that there are IHS students who could do a better job thby Trotsky - Hockey

Re: Separate ushers-vs.-fans game thread? - 18 years ago
BeeeejThen it'll get interesting. I'm not opposed to it, but I'm not really sure how interesting it will get. I would assume the ushers have broad leeway in deciding what constitutes disruptive behavior. If the usher claims you are disruptive... you kinda are. At least, I would think that is the position the AD or rink or Cornell or whoever the controlling entity is would take, in order to bby Trotsky - Hockey
Re: ECACHL Officiating - 18 years ago
Dpperk29When the score opened up, the losers couldn;t dirty, and neither could the winners. The WHL carried this to the point of formally quantifying it. I don't recall the exact details, but it was something like: if you got an instigation penalty in the final two minutes of a game with a score of 3+ goals difference, you got an automatic suspension and a league review.by Trotsky - Hockey
Re: ECACHL Officiating - 18 years ago
Rich ScalgARI '07DafatoneMy problem with Feola is that he tends to lean towards the losing team. Though he never seems anti-Cornell, he does seem to help out the team that's down a little more. Refs at all levels of all sports are guilty of that. I do not agree with this sweeping generalization. It may be true of lower quality officials but I've coached ice hockey at both the high school anby Trotsky - Hockey
Re: "Weekend Off" - 18 years ago
calgARI '07When I saw him play in the USHL, the whole powerplay seemed to revolve around the one-timer to him. He can really rip it. Watch him during warmups - it's a lot more on display there than during the game. Cool. It is an interesting question, then, why he isn't on the point on the power play. What we have aint exactly lighting it up. According to the ECAC(HL grumble...) site, Coby Trotsky - Hockey

1-7 in league so far. Looks like another long year. The talent pool of blue chip women players is very small, and there are maybe a half dozen teams nationally that get all the good players, and Cornell is not one of them. OK. But what is preventing the Red from skating at least .500 team? It's a storied program -- what is keeping it pinned to the bottom of the league?by Trotsky - Other Sports
Re: Dartmouth AD apology - 18 years ago
RichHwhen talking to a Southerner (Damn Yankee) or in Latin America (Yanquis go home) it's still a term of contempt. This is the central point. A term is an insult if... it is used as an insult. The common thread of Southerners and Latin Americans using "Yankee" as a term of derision, while others simultaneously used it as a compliment, is that the former group despises the people tby Trotsky - Hockey

He should be on the POINT... like you said Great outside shot, plus he can make plays... not dump it in the corner or hold it so long it gets blocked, iced whatever...
