Brown wins! CU ties for first at worst, I believe. Then tie breakers. But who cares we are going to win.by Jim Hyla - Hockey

Re: YUCK...WE LOST - 22 years ago
If it makes you feel better you didn't really outplay Dartmouth as much as the shot totals would indicate Yeah, it really would make us feel better to know we didn't play as well as we thought. We'd rather know we played worse and deserved to lose. God, do people really read their posts? Anyway, it's nice to know that they have their sights set on the Ivy title, I'd rather shoot for the ECAC andby Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: Best time and place to buy ECAC tourny tix - 22 years ago
Well, I don't know about waiting to print the tickets. As I said on another thread, some season ticket holders, such as I, purchased their tickets at the beginning of the season, with our season tickets. Any sentence with four commas should be changed. How about skiing Whiteface, for anyone getting there Thursday, I may have a 2 for 1.by Jim Hyla - Hockey

Thanks, it only confirmes what we should know; it's a great place to watch hockey.by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: venting - 22 years ago
Wait a minute Rich, you grew up near the border and couldn't get Hockey Night in Canada? I grew up here in Syracuse and put up an antenna to get Kingston for the broadcasts. Too bad I was a Canadians fan.by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: venting - 22 years ago
Hey, I don't know about you, but I ski and I would never think about doing what those boarders do. They are as much a sport as speed skaters are. In fact I'd bet the boarders would fare better as skaters than vice-versa, whatever that means.by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: If you could choose... - 22 years ago
I'll take b. That will be especially true if they go to 16 teams with 4 regionals, that way we win a regional to go to the Frozen Four. However, even this year I'd take NCAA. After all, we can always say "been there, done that" if someone says we didn't win ECAC. In regards to Would you rather drive a Yugo or a Porsche., I'll take my Toyota Supra anyday.by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: Lake Placid Tix - 22 years ago
I always buy my tickets aheas at LP. In fact I have them now. I've never found it difficult to move to the CU section. I suppose that would be difficult if everyone shows, but I've never seen it full. I know CU accepts credit cards and the first year we went back there, they sent them up to will-call for pickup there.by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: Beanpot: Harvard v BC - 22 years ago
Boy, for playing their "rivals" these past two Mondays, they sure haven't looked good. Maybe they should just try and maintain their non-rivalry with us.by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: Home Ice - 22 years ago
Great work. Yeah, it does sound like you put way too much time into it. However, that's what makes this so much fun. Thanks again.by Jim Hyla - Hockey

If we could all act like this, the world would be a better place.by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: Playoff tickets - 22 years ago
No, they didn't make us, but allowed us to, at a buck off as I remember, and we could turn them back if we failed. For those of us not in Ithaca it's a no-brainer it seems.by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: The only pole that matters.... - 22 years ago
Agree, who cares what our poll position is? We need to win at LP, get our TENTH and hopefully a good NCAA seed and be able to watch them in Worcester.by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: goalies - 22 years ago
Getting back to goalies, if the weekend results continue, I predict Underhill for the playoffs.by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: what a game - 22 years ago
I have to agree with jy3, unlike Friday we started out well but went downhill. We were lucky to win tonight. We let them skate much too freely, many too many good ops for them. Both goalies were good, our D was not. Like I said about the Princeton game, good teams find a way to win when they don't play well. I just hope we can put it better together later. It looks somewhat like we are playingby Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: Standings - 22 years ago
Ah yes, but they already started when we bought our season tickets. Those smart people. Maybe they should start selling next years.by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: Where was SuperMom? - 22 years ago
I suspect parents and players expect taunts about their hockey ability or their school, however when you go against them as a person or against their family or friends then I think it's too far. Underhill's parents were at last weekend and this weekend's games. Considering how far they have to travel, that's something. So don't ever make assumptions based on no knowledge. Think about how they wby Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs Princeton (Friday) - 22 years ago
Not to disagree much, as we did win, but I think the best results out of this game is that we can win when we don't play particularly well. Let's face it aside from some great goaltending we could have been down 2-0, 3-0 at the end of the first period. To be up 1-0, well, I think it shows that the team is solid in all 3 parts of the game. When the offense and defense suffers as they did early onby Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: To Hide Fish - 22 years ago
Age, I think you have tried to imply that I want to throw out the baby with the bath water. I don't see where I, nor anyone else thought we should get rid of all traditions. You see, some of us were here before the fish, and interestingly enough there were traditions even then. In fact, intimidating fans can exist without fish or, heaven forbid, even without the word suck. Need I remind everyoneby Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: Krzysztof Wieckowski - 22 years ago
Agree, that's the kind of work that means the team is together. Good coaching and good players. Hey Melissa, it's nice to know others are not putting their whole attention on the Super? Bowl, although it is quite a good game. Let's go Pats.by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: To Hide Fish - 22 years ago
I think the coach could go a long way toward saying he won't support it and then the fans have to police themselves. The ECAC in cooperation with CU could state they would not allow any fish without a penalty. It might be hard for the team with an opening penalty, but!by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: To Hide Fish - 22 years ago
As was said on another thread, maybe the fish thing has outlived its usefulness. Afterall, when there were a few fish and a chicken was tied to the net, it was funny and suspenseful. Now it's just the thing to do, with most people not understanding it at all. I say, scratch it. If the reason to come to the Harvard game was to harass them, and all we had were words, it would probably be better sby Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: a reply - 22 years ago
WOW, I don't think anymore replies would be useful, so although I can think of a hundred things to say, I won't say anything other than maybe we have all said enough.by Jim Hyla - Hockey
Cornell Winter Olympians - 22 years ago
Here's a nice article about a "current" student. They also have an article about Travis Mayer who went from the Olympic developement moguls team to being on the team for Utah. Unfortunately they don't have a link to the article. Basically, he's from Orchard Park (Buffalo Bills) and currently a student. He won the U.S. Ski team Gold Cup on New Year's Eve and got a place on the team. Iby Jim Hyla - Hockey
Re: Harvard v. Cornell - 22 years ago
Check out the Boston Globe article. Seems like a pretty decent article for CU, missing all the stupid stuff by the fans. Of course, it also skipped all the stupid stuff by Harvard. Sorry, the link no longer works to get the article, but if you go to it and then go to Sports, then Colleges, you will be able to open the article on the CU-HU game.by Jim Hyla - Hockey
