Columbia - Cornell hoops - 18 years ago
I turned on the game and Cornell was up 48-40 with ~8 minutes left (after being up by 11 with 10 to go). It was a rollercoaster after that. After losing the lead, and making it look like Columbia would definitely win, Cornell hit a 3 with 9.5 seconds left to take a two point lead. Alas, Columbia hit one of their own with 2 seconds left for the win. The Columbia broadcasting crew made it soundby ugarte - Other Sports
Re: 6th defenseman - 18 years ago
DafatoneHad Pokulok taken down, it would've been a penalty.Maybe even a penalty shot. So why don't we just assume that Pokulok did take him down, and then Princeton scored on the penalty shot.by ugarte - Hockey
Re: Cornell webcasts and TV schedule - 18 years ago
Al DeFloriobillhowardAm I reading the Big Red multimedia calendar correctly? Basketball vs. Columbia webcast today, but not hockey vs. Clarkson? And not wrestling against Lehigh? Last year--before All-Access--we got to see the Penn dual meet.According to CU Athletics, both hockey games, CU-Columbia hoops and CU-Lehigh wrestling will all be available for viewing on All-Access.by ugarte - Hockey
Re: St. Lawrence at Cornell postgame thread (1/20/06) - 18 years ago
All of this was so pleasant to read. I guess we need to see the results of our games against Colgate to know if we want the DeVergilio suspension to hurt SLU, right? Or do we even care, since we play two games against both teams? (For conference-representation-at-NCAA purposes I guess we need to wait until the end of the season to decide whether we want the suspension to hurt SLU.)by ugarte - Hockey

Re: Oklahoma 19, Cornell 15; Cornell 19, Northern Iowa 12 - 18 years ago
Al DeFlorioFive matches won by each team in the opening dual, with the difference coming on a pin by Oklahoma's #1 141-pounder Teyon Ware and a major decision at 157 (Manotti did not wrestle.). Key match was #2 Sam Hazewinkel handing #5 Troy Nickerson his first defeat, 2-0. Mormile, Anceravage, Miracola, Mazzurco (over #13 Justin Dyer), and Rinaldi (over #3 Joel Flaggert) took decisions for Corby ugarte - Other Sports
Re: Polls 1/16 - 18 years ago
The big shocker to me is that Princeton didn't even get rewarded with a single "other" vote. Not that the Tigers' season deserves it but Cornell and Colgate weren't really penalized for losing to them.by ugarte - Hockey
Re: HF interview with Iggulden - 18 years ago
The only person who could keep Jordan under 20 points a game was Dean Smith. The best thing for Iggulden's stats was not necessarily the best thing for Cornell.by ugarte - Hockey
Re: Cornell at Princeton postgame thread 1/14/06 - 18 years ago
dadeoI was sitting behind the Princeton goal (near Beej) and saw Powe attempt to pass the puck from behind the net, and instead hit the back of McKee's shinpad and into the goal.It hit Gleed's skates and went five hole. It looked like Gleed freaked out a little when he saw where the puck was coming right at him. I'd like to see a replay.by ugarte - Hockey

Al DeFlorioTrotskyNo, the Moulson goal has neither a pp nor an en. Threaded view is a failed technology. Join us in flat view. Join us... Some day the flat-view society will be viewed in the same light as the flat-earth society.Just because you use flat view doesn't mean you can't help out the threaders - all you have to do is hit the quote button.by ugarte - Hockey

Re: [OT] Retiring Moose's # - 18 years ago
KeithKAgreed. Hockey is appropriate enough to simply be [OT} flagged. Other Cornell sports probably are as well. It's topics that have nothing to do with either "Cornell" or "hockey" that don't belong. All IMNSHO.That's how I would draw the line also. My instinct was to think that "Moose" referred to Mike Mussina. I was less than shocked that Steinbrenner bothby ugarte - Hockey
Re: polls 1/9/06 - 18 years ago
KeithKTeams don't usually drop after a winning weekend unless the teams around them had a particularly good weekend. NoDak and Michigan both split and Maine swept but only against Lowell. So no reason to drop us.We outshot RIT very badly and the voters don't read eLynah. All most people know is that we won and might have won by a lot more. I wouldn't expect a drop just because we played a bad tby ugarte - Hockey

The first one was getting a little long. Tomorrow our #10 Big Red goes on the road for duals against #12 Penn State (1PM Free PSU audio) and Lock Haven (7PM (live updates). Penn State matches of note: 133: #10 Mike Mormile vs. #13 Jake Strayer 157: #2 Dustin Manotti vs. #15 Nathan Galloway 184: #7 Joe Mazzurco vs. #1 Eric Bradley (I'm assuming that Mazzurco is back.) 197: #9 Jerry Rinby ugarte - Hockey
