Re: Men's Lax Tournament 2024 - game times - Today
Good point, taking kids or grandkids < middle-school age to an 8:30 game. Conversely if your kid plays a youth / HS spring sport, odds are greater it was an afternoon game. Or will be a Saturday game and hopefully not in the morning. Assuming you're in the Syracuse-Ithaca-Rochester area, a reasonable ride home. I do think about parents / grandparents taking kids to Lynah, where the lanby billhoward - Other Sports

Time of day doesn't matter all that much. This is May not March 3. Lacrosse is still playable when temps are in the 40s. Way more important is that it's not in New Haven or Princeton or Philadelphia. At Columbia was okay because so many alumni are in the metro NY area.by billhoward - Other Sports

BearLoverIf the committee doesn’t consider margin of victory, then there should be no committee at all. RPI does a way better job of determining who is most deserving than the committee ever could. The 2024 NCAA tournament bracket diagram shows one early-round bracket, sort of like the basketball play-in or (for a year before they were hooted down) the "first round" which then made it aby billhoward - Other Sports

upprdeckDo we think there will be a sig attendance jump from NYC for a late night game? if you are making the drive you need to give yourself 4-5 hrs no matter when it starts . I'm making this up as I go along: Looking for all possible reasons why the school or the league chose the 1-seed in the late game not early game. And why it may have gone the other way. This is nice. He sounds like a student. And athlete. One problem about profiles of good HS/prep players as they pick a college is, you have no idea if he'll barely hang on, be a starter, or be a real star. Let's hope Nimani is the real deal.by billhoward - Other Sports

This was just coincidence ... your last sentence included Money, Trump and Fairness ? I'd like to believe any college lacrosse player whether just turned 18 or maybe 22 or 23, no one is so young or so old a game at 6pm vs. 8:30pm is going to affect his abilities. I get the advantage of the ECAC 1-seed at Lake Placid wanting the 4 pm semifinal game for an extra 3 hours of rest for a game 2by billhoward - Other Sports

Al DeFlorio upprdeck Getting out of a lAX game at 1030-1100 isnt fun. Good news is the crowd wont be that big that time of night. Not so great for the winner of the late game, either. Re: Cornell lacrosse 2024 - Yesterday
Right! The Omar Kanjis of the lacrosse world work just as hard as the starters and the stars. If their parents and siblings and girlfriend see them in a game for 5 minutes, it is worth a lot. I think it ripples back to the recruiting candidates about which are the teams you want to play for. And the non-stars will support Cornell lax as alumni.by billhoward - Other Sports

mike1960 You gotta ask: How difficult is it to broadcast the shot clock? a) there was at least one other game where the shot clock wasn't in the clock/scores onscreen graphic. b) at some schools, either the clock doesn't output a signal for time shot clock time remaining, or their software doesn't accept the clock output but if ESPN is supplyng the production equipment (which may be as simple aby billhoward - Other Sports

Cornell cruising up in New Hampshire. 10-5 at the half, 4-1–5 for CJ Kirst. Dartmouth shut out in the third, Cornell eases off the throttle, puts Tully in goal. Finally Cornell 15-10. . Final weekend of the regular season. Ivy League nicely stacked the 3 games (Penn DNP today) so we can watch 2 1/2 of them without a lot of overlap. The current standings: Cornell 4-1 Yale 4-1 Penn 4-2 Princeton 3-2 Brown 2-3 Harvard 1-4 Dartmouth 0-5 Princeton @ Yale, 12 noon. Princeton needs the win to guarantee it makes the ILT. Maybe the near-binary choice made by this near-sentient researcher described it as superstars or nobodies who drift back to the juniors. There is a reasonable number of college drafted college players who may have ~5-year NHL careers punctuated by one or two trips back to the minors. I think, ah, the Ivy League was in a deadline crush, say, and somebody didn't proofread the sketch that became the graphic. Everybody, everywhere, doing online stuff feels rushed. But they also know, if they make a mistake, they can correct later that day, or tomorrow. In print, you're kind stuck, except you run a correction in a future issue. One in four NHLers have been to college. Per AI: Google AI answer to "nhl percentage college playrs" Roughly 25% of NHL players have played college hockey, but the majority come from Major Juniors. In 2021–2022, 48 NCAA Division I schools had an alum playing in the NHL, which is a 65% increase from 2002–2003, when 21.1% of NHL players were NCAA alumni. This schedule 10 days in advance of the Ivy League Lacrosse Tournament has the 2-3 seeds playing the early game at 6 pm, the 1-4 seeds playing at 8:30 pm, then the title game at 1 pm. When it was neutral-site last year, I believe the 1-seed got the early game. Ignore that the graphic has all 3 games Sunday May 5. It should be semifinals Friday, day off Saturday, title game Sunday. Jeff Hopkins '82 You'd have to figure that if more sites are relocated to there, they'd probably add parking, too. You'd think. One suspects Cornell downplayed the need for parking. Two miles is too long of a walk from the old Hoy Field and there's no bus service, I believe. Parking has been a hot button for Cornell. Consider the possibility that all Cornell sports will be exiled – sorry, relocated – to a more distant location. There is certainly plenty of room at the McGovern Fields complex for more varsity sports. You can fit a soccer / lacrosse field plus sidelines in 2 acres, plus stands. There would certainly be more room for a 50-meter pool there than on campus. The tennis center and polo barns areby billhoward - Other Sports
